BEULAH STEWART THOMAS MCNEILL
BROADWAY — Beulah Stewart Thomas McNeill, 90, died Wednesday, May 29, 2013.
Mrs. McNeill was born in Harnett County on December 2, 1922 to the late Douglas and Molly Stewart of Broadway, N.C. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John Ellis Thomas; sisters, Virginia Lett, Ellen King and Jewel Dickens; brothers, Frank Stewart, Emory Stewart, James Stewart and Hal Stewart; her son-in-law, Gerald R. Thomas; her stepdaughter, Judy M. Wood; her grandson, Donald Ray Thomas Jr.; and her granddaughter, Karys Karpp. She was a member of the Holly Springs Baptist Church where she had served as a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir for many years.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Holly Springs Baptist Church in Broadway with the Rev. Jerry Parsons officiating. Burial will follow at the Baptist Chapel Church Cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, Cornelius B. McNeill of Broadway; daughters, Karen T. Thomas of Broadway and Jinger T. Gibson (Bill) of Sanford; sons, Stewart E. Thomas (Penny) of Sanford, Donald Ray Thomas (Hazel) of Greensboro, Ricky D. Thomas of Little River, S.C. and Danny L. Thomas of Sanford; two stepchildren, Jimmy McNeill of Sanford and Glenda M. Womack (Sammy) of Broadway; 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Holly Springs Baptist Church Sanctuary prior to the funeral service and other times at the home of her daughter, Karen Thomas, 307 First Street, Broadway.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church of your choice or to Community Home Care and Hospice, 1836 Doctors Drive in Sanford.

PITTSBORO — John DeGraffenreidt, 67, of 600 Millbrook Road, died Monday (5/27/13) at his residence.
He is survived by two sons, John Jr. and Elijah DeGraffenreidt, both of New York; one grandchild; three sisters, Geraldine DeGraffenreidt of Pittsboro, Phyllis Watson of Chapel Hill and Carolyn Siler of Sanford; sister-in-law, Rebecca DeGraffenreidt of Orangeburg, S.C.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Sinai AME Church in Pittsboro.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Percell Revels who died Monday (5/27/13), was held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cool Springs Baptist Church by the Rev. Matt Martin and the Rev. Don Luellen. Burial followed at the church cemetery.
During the service the congregation sang and the soloist was son-in-law Steve Bristow. Grandchildren Jennifer Gregg and Josh Revels gave testimony of their grandfather, and a memorial video was played. The eulogy was given by Joe Liles. Musicians were Melanie Wood and Jane Craig.
Pallbearers were Eric Berndt, Jack Childress, Eric Gregg, Joshua Revels, Anthony Strickland and David Ward. Honorary pallbearers were The Senior Men’s Sunday School Class, Billy Black, Gary Garrett, Steve Hazelwood, Raymond Hester, Bobby Hutchens, Pete Marsh, Arlie Wright, Ben Yarborough, Leon Morrison, Ray Branch and Reggie Wilson.

SANFORD — Barbara Covington, 60, of 1296 Hooker St., died Tuesday (5/28/13) at her residence.
She is survived by her husband, Clifton Covington; father, Everette Dorsett Sr.; son, Nathaniel Murchison; sisters, Peggy Murchison, Phyllis Dorsett, Gwendolyn "Faye" Dorsett, Vickie Gainey, Marcia Neal (Ronald) and Linda Sydnore; brothers, Terry Murchison, David Dorsett (Darlene) and Jimmy Murchison (Paula); four grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Works For Christ. Burial will be at Ebenezer Cemetery.

He is survived by his mother, Deborah Schultz; brother, Sean Schultz; sons, Austin and Memphis Schultz; their mother, Cyndi Martin; a daughter, Skyler Raylynn Johnson; a sister, Bryanna Morris; and a host of other relatives and friends.

SANFORD — Jordan Rebecca Collins, 24, of Mamers, died Thursday (5/23/13) at Central Harnett Hospital.
She was born on April 2, 1989, in Lee County to Bob Ranford and Teresa Whitaker Collins.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by one son, Isaiah Jordan Matthews; grandmother, Lillie Mae Whitaker; six brothers and sisters, Jessica Mae Collins, Bob Ranford Collins II, Christopher Alan Cook, Melissa Dawn Hollar, Esther Collins and Rhonda Collins; also survived by other family and friends.
A visitation will be held Saturday from 2 until 4 p.m. at Miller-Boles Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Cross Roads Community Church Cemetery in Carthage.

LILLINGTON — Funeral service for Ellon Dennis Upchurch, 81, who died Friday (5/24/13), was conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Martin Groover officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.
During the service, Barbara Koepp was the pianist. The congregation sang. Justin Harrington was the soloist, and a taped selection was played.
Pallbearers were Wayne Dennis, Randy Dennis, Tony Upchurch Jr., Rusty Upchurch and Mitchell Dennis.

LUBY SHELTON WEAVER (vet)
PITTSBORO — Luby Shelton Weaver, 79, of WR Clark Road, died Wednesdsay (5/29/13) at his home.
He was born July 21, 1933 in Goldsboro, the son of Luby Lisker Weaver and Dora Estelle Denning Weaver. He was a graduate of Grantham High School, received his BS in Industrial Arts from East Carolina College, and his Masters in Education from the University of Maryland. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church, where he had served as a Deacon and also taught Sunday School. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Virginia Wood Weaver; daughters, Dora Owens and Virginia L. Weaver, both of Pittsboro, and Ruth Ann Weaver of Siler City; a brother, Leslie L. Weaver of Chester, Va.; a sister, Mary W. Pedigo of Grantham; and four grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Emmaus Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Moore presiding. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday at Hall–Wynne Funeral Home in Pittsboro.

CARTHAGE — Jerry Franklin Norton, 59, died Wednesday (5/29/13) at First Health Moore Regional Hospital of Pinehurst.
Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor George Akers officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service and other times at the home of Martha Wall, 460 Torchwood Road, Carthage. Burial will follow at Red Branch Baptist Church Cemetery in Carthage.
He was born in Laurinburg on February 14, 1954, to Jessie and Bessie Snuggs Norton. He worked as a welder and machinist most of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Bessie Snuggs Norton; and one sister, Peggy Sue Greene.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Wall Norton; one son, Matthew Lee Norton and fiancé Sherri Stewart of Carthage; one daughter, Megan Elizabeth Norton of Carthage; one sister, Annie Ruth Thomas of Decula, Ga.; two brothers, Harold Norton of Gibson and Ben Norton of Maxton; and two grandchildren.

WAYNE HAYDEN PHILLIPS SR.
CAMERON — Mr. Wayne Hayden Phillips Sr., age 74, of 2569 Nicholson Road, Cameron, N.C., died peacefully at home on Wednesday evening, May 29, 2013.
He was born in Gulf, N.C. on December 13, 1938, to the late Herman Bright Phillips and Mary Kate Phillips. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Wayne Hayden Phillips Jr. and by a brother, Charles Wade Phillips. Mr. Phillips was a manufacturing supervisor at MOEN and served our country in the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his two daughters, Terry Senter and husband Craig of Fuquay-Varina and Sheryl McCormick and husband Kenny of Sanford; and a sister, Rosellla P. Spivey of Bear Creek, N.C. He has six grandchildren: Lauren Riggsbee and husband Matt, Leigh Senter, Brittany Riggs, Bradley Riggs, Joyce Riggs and Danny Phillips. He has two great-grandchildren: Daniel Wayne Phillips Jr. and Lillian Riggsbee.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 31, 2013, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home and the funeral will be Saturday, June 1, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home with the Rev. Matt Riggsbee presiding. Burial will follow at Lee Memory Gardens.
