CARTHAGE — Ester Lavornia Sutton, 92, of Carthage, died Friday (5/16/14) at home with her family by her side.

She was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on July 16, 1921 to Antonio and Anna Maria Lavornia.  She spent her working career as a real estate broker.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, George Oliver Sutton; sons, George Richard Sutton of California and Bruce Oliver Sutton of Carthage; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Anna Maria Lavornia; and son, Rodney Franklin Sutton.

Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 20, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City, Nev.

The family has entrusted services to Cox Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory of Vass.

CAMERON — John Edward Moore Jr, 32, of Cameron, died Friday (5/16/14) at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

He was born in Sanford on June 30, 1981 to John Edward Moore Sr and Joyce Kimball Smith.  He was an avid North Carolina fan.

He is survived by his mother, Joyce Kimball Smith; his father, John Edward Moore Sr; sister, Bridgette Pavlosky of Vass; brother, Sammy Kimball of Vass; and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Christy Vick.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 18, at 5 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Allen Mashburn officiating. A private burial will be held at Johnson Grove Cemetery at the family’s request.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.

LILLINGTON — Dwight L. Morgan Jr., 28, of 40 Crystal Pool Court, Lillington, died Sunday (5/11/14) at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

Surviving are his mother, Sheron Morgan, sisters Renee McCuthen (Travis), Laphiffaney Morgan (Kim), and Melissia Johnson (Keith); his brother Toni Smith (Trish); grandmothers, Evelyn Percell, Elaine Morgan and Magnolia Baldwin; special cousins;  and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 19, at Works For Christ Christian Center, Sanford.

SANFORD — Funeral service for William Thompson Jr., 74, of Sanford, who died Wednesday (5/14/14) was held Saturday at Works for Christ Christian Center with Dr. Alice Hooker officiating.  He was interred at Minter Cemetary in Sanford.

The Works for Christ Christian Center Choir sang.

The pallbearers were friends of the family.
