LULA BELLE STINSON WELCH

LEESBURG, VA — Lula Belle Stinson Welch, 88, of Leesburg, Va., died Sunday (5/18/14) in Leesburg.

She was a native of Goldston and a longtime resident of the Washington, D.C. area. She came to work for the F.B.I. in the Identification Bureau during W.W. II, after graduating from Goldston High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence L. (Larry) Welch; parents, Cary and Lydia Gaines Stinson; brothers, Glen, Tom and Horace Stinson; and sisters, Estelle Marsh, Polly Wicker, Fannie Hamer and Oppie Couch.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Welch Cooke and Brenda Welch Nemec and her husband Donald Nemec; three grandsons; three great-grandsons; and one brother, Charles Harden Stinson.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Wall officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Goldston Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Goldston Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 35 Goldston, N.C. 27252.

Arrangements are by Smith & Buckner Funeral Home in Siler City.

JEREMY RAY BROWN

VASS — Jeremy Ray Brown, 26, of Vass, died Friday (5/23/14) at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

A celebration of life will be held today at 3 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Lamm's Grove Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends for a visitation and viewing two hours prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.

He was born in Pinehurst on July 12, 1987, to Angela Brown Clark and Lloyd Thomas Dills.

He is survived by his son, Noah Ray Brown; his son’s mother, Abigail Blue; mother, Angela Brown Clark and stepfather Christopher Clark; father, Lloyd Thomas Dills and stepmother Karen Dills; brothers, Jeffrey Thomas Dills and wife Nikki and Joel Wayne Dills and wife Crystal, all of North Carolina; and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an Educational Fund for Noah Ray Brown, c/o BB&T in Vass.

ANDRE LAMONT MARSH

BEAR CREEK — Andre Lamont Marsh, 25, of 133 Pinecrest Drive, Bear Creek, died Saturday (5/24/14) at Central Carolina Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Knotts Funeral Home in Pittsboro.

The family will receive friends at 7894 Pittsboro/Goldston Road and 1966 St. Luke Church Road.

EUGENE STONE

SANFORD — Graveside service for Eugene Stone was held Monday at Buffalo Cemetery with the Rev. Rodney Stone officiating.

Two music selections were played. Bobby Barbour played the guitar and also sang. Special remembrances were given by sons, Michael Stone and Rick Stone. Services concluded with prayers from son-in-law, Brad Futral.

Pallbearers were Rick Stone Sr., Michael Stone, Rick Stone Jr., Brad Futral, Jonathon Ross and Alan Ellerman. Honorary pallbearers were Conner Stone, Cary Hilliard and Bunny Stone.

Arrangements were by Miller-Boles Funeral Home.

FAYETTEVILLE — Melissa Wofford, 41, of 4205 Knollwood Drive, Fayetteville, died Saturday (5/24/14) at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Cunningham & Son’s Mortuary in Fayetteville.
