DUNN — Charlie Coleman McQueen, 70, of 400 Ponderosa Drive, Dunn, died Friday (6/20/14) at Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn.

He was the son of the late John W. and Sally Diggs McQueen.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. Zion Christian Fellowship Church in Dunn. Viewing will be held one hour prior to service.

He is survived by one son, Dennis L. Malloy; four brothers, Bobby S. McQueen of Raleigh, Larry McQueen of Fayetteville, Ervin McQueen of Erwin, and George Diggs of Harrisburg, Pa.; five sisters, Joyce Holliday Williams of Dunn, Martha Knight of Raleigh, and Linda F. McQueen, Julia McQueen and Dianne Porter, all of Fayetteville; and a host of other relatives and friends.

SANFORD — Kennis Guy Quick Jr., 66, of 1349 Summerset Place, Sanford, died Tuesday (6/24/14) at his home. Arrangements are pending by LHorton Community Funeral Home.


GOLDSTON — George Ralph Rives Jr., 71, of 425 Horton Road, Goldston, died Saturday (6/22/14) at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Rives; sons, Mark Tyson (Linette) of Pittsboro and David Johnson (Robbie) of Bear Creek; two stepdaughters, Mispha Lashonda Dennise (Marcus) of Raleigh and Talisha Woodard of Greensboro; one stepson, Jonathan Pitkins of Chapel Hill; two brothers, Tommy Rives of Goldston and Herman Rives of Raleigh; five sisters, Mary Cotten of Holly Springs, Carolyn Degraffenreaidt and Brenda Nettles (Edward), all of Goldston, Linda Alston of Pittsboro and Nancy McCrimmon (Harold) of Cameron; one sister-in-law, Izetta Rives of Goldston; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at St. Luke United Church-Christ in Goldston. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Wake will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

SILER CITY — Randy Anthony Wicker, 54, of Siler City, died Monday (6/23/14).

He was born June 19, 1960 in Siler City and raised in Goldston. He mastered the art of Tae Kwon Do, graduated from Chatham Central High School, and joined the family business as a truck driver for Wicker Trucking. He was preceded in death by his father, William (Bill) Jennings Wicker Jr.

He is survived by his daughter, Whitney Wicker Duggins; mother, Sarah Stovall Wicker Daugherty; stepfather, Fred Daugherty; brother, Jeffrey Allen Wicker; sister, Crystal Wicker Harman; brother-in-law, Bill Harman; two nephews; three nieces, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Carbonton. Pastor David Thomas and Pastor Tim McKenzie will be officiating. Interment will follow at Loves Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home.
