DAVID RONALD “RONNIE” POE SR.

MONCURE — David Ronald “Ronnie” Poe Sr., age 67, of Moncure, died Tuesday (4/23/13) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

He was born in Durham County, son of the late Alvis Condon Poe and Hazel Marie Smith Poe. He was preceded in death by his parents, and son Brian Kelly Poe. He was a member of the American Legion Post 382 and was a Veteran of the United States Navy having served in Vietnam on the USS Forrestal. He was employed with Carrier Corporation, York and Trane Corp. for over thirty years. He was the owner and operator of Chatham-Lee Realty and Auction Company. He was an avid golfer.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Haywood Independent Bible Church with the Rev. Terry Pleasants and the Rev. Ray Gooch officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Surviving are his wife of thirty-five years, Bonnie Barnes Poe of the home; daughter, Amanda Poe Atkinson (Leslie) of Rock Hill, S.C.; son, David Ronald Poe Jr., (Sarah) of Wilmington, N.C.; sister, Sarah Poe Hearn of Pittsboro, N.C.; brothers, Alvis C. “Buddy” Poe (Mary) of St. Louis, Missouri and William Jeffery “Bill” Poe (Deborah) of Dunlap, Tennessee; grandchildren, Andrew K. Poe, David Ronald Poe III and Oliver Grey Atkinson; great-grandson, Blake Kelly Dean Poe.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Moncure.

FAYETTEVILLE — Deborah A. Jones, 60, died Saturday (4/20/13) at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville.

She is survived by one brother, James Christopher Alston (Adrienne) of Central Islip, N.Y., and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted at 12 p.m. Saturday at Macedonia AME Zion Church in Gulf. A viewing will be held Friday from 1 until 7 p.m.at Knotts Funeral Home. A wake will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday prior to the service.

GRACE ANN WHITE RUE

WASHINGTON, N.C. — Grace Ann White Rue died Saturday (4/20/13) at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

She was born on March 21, 1945, in Sanford to William McClain and Virginia White. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly; a son, Bernard; and two brothers, William Terry White and Charles White.

She is survived by four sons, Elder John E. White, Terry R. Simmons (Cynthia), and Kinney E. White, all of Washington, N.C., and Pastor Frank T. White Sr. (Margaret) of Raleigh; one daughter, Kathie Newkirk of San Diego, Calif.; twin sister, Hazel White of Washington; nine grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Beebe Memorial CME Church in Washington with the Rev. Edward Moultrie Jr. and the Rev. Frank T. White Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakdale Cemetery in Washington. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

VICKIE “VIC” WOMACK

SANFORD — Vickie R. “Vic” Womack, 59, died Monday (4/22/13). Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.

LUTRELL WILLIAMS JR.

SEAGROVE — Lutrell “Lou” Williams Jr., 56, died Tuesday (4/23/13).

He was born in Washington, D.C., son of the late Garlice Lutrell Williams Sr. and Lillian Lee Jones. He owned and operated Lou’s Greenscape for 20 years. He was a member of  Hunt’s Plank Road Chapel Church in Seagrove.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at O’Quinn-Peebles Chapel in Lillington with the Rev. Clay Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Erwin Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home of Lillian Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Abby Williams; daughter, Stacie Whicker and husband Ray of Tampa, Fla.; son, Buck Nichols and wife Christi of Jacksonville, N.C.; four grandchildren; mother, Lillian Jones and stepfather Fred Jones of Lillington; two brothers, Gary Williams and wife Christine of Lillington, and Andy Williams and wife Shea of Erwin; one niece and one nephew.
