MONROE FEASTER

SILER CITY — Monroe Feaster, 81, of 259 Feaster Road, died Wednesday (1/30/13) at UNC Hospital at Chapel Hill.

He is survived by one brother, Ernest Ray Feaster (Merilyn) of Sanford; three sisters-in-law, Charlotte Feaster of Ramseur, Fannie Feaster of Greensboro and Geraldine Bethea of Upper Marlboro, Md.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Knotts Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Lee Memory Gardens.

RICHARD DONALD PEELE

SANFORD — Memorial service for Richard Donald Peele, 80, who died Monday (1/28/13), was held at 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church by Dr. Jeff Clark. Interment followed in the church columbarium.

During the service, soloists were Cressler Peele and Etta Love. The congregation and the Hymns and Hers Choir also sang. Reflections were by Rick Peele and Mr. Peele’s grandchildren delivered a poem. Organist was Pat Langston.

ARLEEN ANDERSON MATTHIESEN

SANFORD — Memorial service for Arleen Anderson Matthiesen, 94, formerly of Oconomowoc, Wis., who died Tuesday (1/22/13), was held in the Casey Chapel at St. Luke United Methodist Church Friday by the Rev. Dr. Gene Cobb and Carrie Nicholson.

During the service, the congregation sang and the organist was Dianne W. Stanley. Readings were by Jeff Towson, Brad Matthiesen and Bill Towson.

DELSIE BROWN MCARTHUR

BROADWAY — Delsie Brown McArthur, 83, died Friday (2/1/13) at the E. Carlton Powell Hospice Center in Lillington.

She was born in Harnett County, daughter of the late James Henderson Brown and Nellie Loveday Holder Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edmond Brown and Ferrell Brown; and sister, Jean Brown Nunnery. She was a member of the Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church and a member of the church choir.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Doug Houston officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Samuel “Sam” McArthur; daughter, Phyllis Pearson of Zebulon; sons, Robert V. McArthur and wife Yvonne, and J. Mike McArthur, all of Broadway; sisters, Ora Lee Brown Clayton of Broadway and Mona Brown McNeill of Sanford; brothers, Elton Eustace Brown of Spring Lake, Jerry Monroe Brown of Merlin, Ore., Jimmy Baxter Brown of New Port Richey, Fla., and Royce Brown of Cary; stepsisters, Mary Ann Jackson of Stedman and Kathleen Frease of Vander; stepbrother, Clyde Smith of Mebane; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday at Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.

MONCURE — Roy Berryman, 80, of 981 Old U.S. 1, died Friday (2/1/13) at his residence.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marilyn Hawkins Berryman; three children, Ricky Berryman (Sandra), Rojalyn Phillips (Samuel), and Marvin Berryman; five brothers, Jim Berryman (Stormie), Robert Berryman (Doris), John Berryman, Reggie Berryman (Barbara) and Brian Berryman; five sisters, Helen Palmer (Leo), Mary Farrow (Charlie), Barbara Wilson (Bill), Margaret Berryman and Carolyn Berryman; brother-in-law, Bruce Garner; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.

VERNON MAURICE MCIVER

SANFORD — Vernon Maurice McIver, 49, of 150 Variety Lane, died Tuesday (1/29/13) at his home.

Other survivors include his father, William C. Dorsett; and sister, Jacqueline Dorsett.

Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Poplar Springs AME Zion Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 1 until 6 p.m. Saturday at Watson Memorial-Cunningham & Sons Mortuary.
