FLOYD WILLIAMS

ABERDEEN — Floyd (Bossie) Williams, 28, died Saturday (6/29/13).

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Southern Pines Primary School Auditorium. Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He is survived by his mother, Rosie Williams; daughter, Zayda Williams; and a brother, Tony Williams.

Arrangements are by Pugh & Smith Funeral Home of Carthage.

PETER R. WILBERG

SANFORD — Peter R. Wilberg, 66, died Tuesday (7/2/13) at Central Carolina Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Miller-Boles Funeral Service.

MYRTLE MAE ROGERS

PITTSBORO — Funeral service for Myrtle Mae Rogers, 82, who died Wednesday (6/26/13), was conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Mitchell Chapel AME Zion Church in Pittsboro with the Rev. Anthony Davis and the Rev. Jermaine Rogers officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

Soloist was Minister Paul Goldston.

Pallbearers were family and friends.

Arrangements were by Knotts Funeral Home.

MARVIN DOUGLAS MCKINNEY

SANFORD — Funeral service for Marvin Douglas McKinney, 53, who died Wednesday (6/26/13), was conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Staunton Memorial CME Church in Pittsboro with the Rev. Albert Williams and the Rev. Ricky McKinney Sr. officiating. Burial was at Pittsboro Cemetery.

The church choir sang.

Pallbearers were family and friends.

Arrangements were by Knotts Funeral Home.

JOAN WARREN MADDOX

SILER CITY — Joan Warren Maddox, 43, of  Woody Store Road, died Monday (7/1/13) at her residence.

She was born in Cumberland County on Feb. 8, 1970, the daughter of the late Olen and the late Mildred (Goodwin) Warren. She was a graduate of Triton High School in Erwin, and attended Wake Tech for two years. She attended Center United Methodist Church in Snow Camp and was employed as Sr. Vice President of Client Services with Schooldude.com, and Facility Dude.com.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel Maddox; daughter, Erin Maddox of the home; and four sisters, Janice Lee of Siler City, Brenda White of Lindside, W.Va., Peggy Marske of Semora and Sybil Owney of Smithfield, Va.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home in Siler City.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Palmer's Grove United Methodist Church in Hillsborough with the Rev. Jinho Hwang, the Rev. Joseph Park and the Rev. Douglas Currin officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Duke Children's Hospital, Box 2998, Durham, N.C. 27701, The Erin Maddox College Fund or to Palmer's Grove UMC.

BARBARA ARNOLD BROGDON

SANFORD — Barbara Arnold Brogdon, 65, died Saturday (6/29/13) at Central Carolina Hospital.

She was born on June 2, 1948, in Fort Sill, Okla. to the late Chester Arnold and Louise McFarland Arnold.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy Arnold of Sanford; three sons, Danny Lee Brogdon and David Matthew Brogdon and his wife Rosie, all of Sanford, and Lawrence Eugene Curtis and wife Jennifer of Broadway; a brother, Chester Arnold of Steadman; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at Merry Oaks Baptist Church in Moncure with Pastor Allen Agee officiating.

ALBERTA P. NORTON

CARTHAGE — Alberta P. Norton, 92, died Sunday (6/30/13) at Pinelake Rehabilitation.

The family will be receiving friends from 12 to 1 p.m. Friday at Powell Funeral Home and Crematory in Southern Pines.

A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Johnson Grove Cemetery in Vass with the Rev. Douglas Kelly officiating.

Born April 6, 1921, in Moore County, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Mary Oldham Patterson and wife of the late Angus Norton.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

LILLINGTON — Funeral service for John Tilden “Tommy” Howington Jr., 79, who died Saturday (6/29/13), was conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Summerville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Harold Stone and the Rev. Thomas K. Spence Jr. officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

Organist was Ann Reece. Steel guitar solos were by Allen Howington and Johnny Howington. Recorded music by Tommy and Beulah Howington was played.

Pallbearers were Brandon Thomas, Victor Davis, James H. Currin, Gary Buffkin, Neal Taylor, Timmy Currin, Ronnie Gregory and Ronnie Womack.

Arrangements were by O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home of Lillington.
