SILER CITY — Rev. Gennell Wilkerson, 75, of 57 Crestview Road in Siler City, died Saturday (7/6/13) at her home.

Knotts and Son Funeral Home of Siler City is assisting the family.



SANFORD — Funeral service for Peter Robert Wilberg was held Saturday (7/6/13) at Buffalo Presbyterian Churh in Sanford with Rev. Paul Shields presiding.

Special music was sung by the church choir during the service, accompanied by organist Patricia Kelly and pianist Leah Everette.

Graveside service followed at Buffalo Cemetery, with Buffalo Masonic Lodge #172 performing the Masonic rites.

Pallbearers were Billy Joe Carter, Bruce Fortenberry, Douglas Wilberg, Phillip Wilberg, Eric Wilberg and Justin Siess. Members of the Buffalo Masonic Lodge #172 served as honorary pallbearers.

Miller-Boles Funeral Home served the family.



CAMERON — Jimmy Frank Thomas, 74, of Cameron, died at Moore Regional Hospital on Friday (7/5/13). Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Center United Methodist Church Cemetery.

He was born in Lee County, son of the late Paul S. Thomas and Katie Wicker Thomas. He was also preceded in death by brothers Willie Mac Thomas and Paul Thomas Jr.

He was a member of Center United Methodist Church and an Army veteran, and he worked as a machinist.

Survivors include a son, Scott Thomas of Cameron; daughters Naomi Thomas of Sanford and Kelly Thomas of Vass; brother Harold Thomas and wife Geraldine of Sanford; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

SANFORD — Memorial service for Gene Edward Bethea Sr., 85, of Sanford, who died Saturday (6/29/13), was held at 11 a.m. Saturday (7/6/13) at St. Luke United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jaye White and Dr. Vernon Tyson officiating.

During the service, the Awakening Band sang and the congregation sang. Soloists were David Mellnik and Howard Humphrey. His brother, Buddy Bethea, gave the eulogy. The organist was Helen Bishop.

BROADWAY — Ruth Roseman Cameron, 86, of Broadway, died Friday (7/5/13). Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Barbecue Presbyterian Church by Rev. Sandy Williams.

She was born in Lee County, daughter of the late Everett Roseman and Alda Kelly Roseman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Cameron; a son, Thomas Kelly Cameron; and a brother, Ed Roseman. She was a member of Barbecue Presbyterian Church for 65-plus years and worked at Jonesboro Lee Drug Store for many years.

She is survived by three daughters, Celia Cousins of Broadway, Carol Cameron of Sanford and Kay Davis of Charlotte; two sons, Sonny Cameron and Allen Cameron, both of Broadway; two sisters, Elderlene Keller of Sanford and Pete Bost of Sanford; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday (7/7/13) in the Fellowship Hall at Barbecue Presbyterian Church.

PALM HARBOR, FL. — A memorial service celebrating the life of Phebe Willett Knoll, 75, of Palm Harbor, Fl., will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, 1 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home in Sanford, N.C. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the funeral home before the service (from noon to 1 p.m.) and following the service at the home of Obie Watson in Sanford. Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery.

Phebe passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 in North Myrtle Beach, S.C., surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on Oct. 28, 1937 in Lee County, N.C., to the late Harvey and Rachel Willett. She met her adoring husband of 52 years in Cocoa Beach, Florida and they were married in January of 1961. She was a devoted mother to her two children Michael and Michelle. Phebe was owner and operator of the Rainbow-K Florist in Palm Harbor, Florida for 31 years. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining and spending time with her family. Phebe was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters – Kate, Kemp, Max, James, Harvey, Robert, Sylvia, and, Andy.

Survivors include brother John Willett and sisters Erna and Myrtle; her husband of 52 years and love of her life Roger Allen Knoll; son, Michael Knoll of Holiday, Fl., along with daughter-in-law Aileen Knoll, grandson Allen Ibanez Knoll, and granddaughter Phebe Knoll; and her daughter Michelle Knoll of Jersey City, N.J. She will be greatly missed and we are all very saddened by her loss.
