BRANDON WENDALL JENKINS

SANFORD — Brandon Wendall Jenkins, 33, of Sanford, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013.

Technical Sergeant Jenkins was born in New Hanover County, on April 29, 1980, to ISG (Ret.) David William Jenkins and Terry Eastman Jenkins. He worked for the U.S. Air Force as a jet engine mechanic. He was employed at Air Experts in Raleigh as a senior service technician and was loved by all his employers and customers.

Surviving relatives include his parents, ISG (Ret.) David and Terry Jenkins of Sanford; his wife, Wendi Jenkins of the home; daughters, Garbrielle Rose Jenkins and Jennabelle Grace Jenkins of the home; a stepson, Nolan Staiger and wife Megan of Newark, OH; stepdaughters, Megan Staiger, and Whitney Staiger and fiancé Adam Walker of Newark, OH; brother, Shain Jenkins and fiancée Tanya North of Sanford; sister, Melonie Jenkins Edwards and husband Matt Edwards of Sanford; nephew, Zackary Edwards; niece, Heidi Jenkins; father and mother-in-law, Walter and Hazel Wood of Heath, OH.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013 at 4 p.m. at Grace Chapel Church with the Rev. Joel Murr presiding. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 3-4 p.m. at the church and immediately following the service in the fellowship hall.

DORALENE BROWN KNIGHT

MAMERS — Doralene Brown Knight, age 76, went home to her Lord on Monday (11/11/2013) at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.

She was born in Harnett County, N.C. on February 18, 1937, daughter of the late Oris and Algie Spence Brown. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 51 years, Rabon Knight. Doralene, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, dedicated her entire life to caring for the sick and needy. She graduated from Boone Trail High School in 1955 and from Highsmith Hospital School of Nursing in Fayetteville, in 1958, where she was named Best-All-Around Nurse in her class. She began her career as a Registered Nurse at the Lee County Hospital in the Medical/Surgical Department. She worked for Dr. Vance Chamblee in Broadway and then returned to Lee County Hospital to work in Obstetrics and Nursery. She nursed at Boone Trail Medical Center for 11 years and was a Charter Member of the Boone Trail Emergency Services. In 2005 she retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections, where she had received the North Carolina Central Region Nurse of the Year in 2004. She was a devoted, life long member of the Antioch Baptist Church in Mamers, N.C.

Doralene is survived by her son, Jeffrey Knight of Broadway; son, Oris Knight and wife Ann of Mamers; sisters, Barbara Koepp of Broadway, Trilby Batchelor and husband Charles of Sanford, Katrina Tankersley and husband James of Encinitas, CA; and brother, Ross Brown and wife Ida of Mamers; granddaughters, Cassie and Hayle Knight; and grandsons, Travis, Craig and Matthew Knight. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Bernice Knight of Advance, N.C. and Laura Cagle of Carthage, N.C., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her sister Gaynelle Hudson and husband James passed away in 2010.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Antioch Baptist Church in Mamers with Rev. David Anderson and Rev. Patrick Broaddus officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1:00-2:00 p.m., at the Antioch Baptist Church.

The family wishes to acknowledge the compassionate care and love shown to Doralene by the members of Antioch Baptist Church and the Mamers community during her illness.

GOLDSTON — Ronald Leo Gilliland, 79, of 2270 Bonlee-Carbonton Road, died Saturday (11/9/13) at his home.

Funeral service will be conducted today at 2 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Mike Garner and Jimmy Jones officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

He was born in Danville, Va., and was an Army veteran. He worked as a poultry farmer for over 50 years until he retired.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Augusta Hancock Gilliland; daughter, Ginger Azar and husband Parviz of California; sons, Allen Gilliland and wife Sonya, and Randy Gilliland and companion Kristen Spulka, all of Goldston; four grandchildren; mother, Alice G. Hammer; brothers, Lionel Gilliland and J.B. Gilliland; and one sister, Vivian Petty.

The family will receive friends at his home.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Wilma Martin Nelson, 76, who died Tuesday (11/5/13), was held at 2 p.m. Monday at Pine Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Siler officiating. Burial was at Minter Cemetery.

The church choir sang and Genesis Sullivan was soloist.

Pallbearers were nephews and friends of the family.

SANFORD — Paul Francis Roe Kimber died Sunday (11/10/13).

A memorial service will be held at a later date in England.

He was born in Hamble, England, a son of the late Donald Corbin Kimber and Jacqueline Evans Kimber Ward.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Faulkner Kimber of England; daughters, Philippa Kathryn Kimber Nelson and husband Chris of Sanford, and Samantha Dawn Jenner of England; one sister, Christine of England; and four brothers, Tony, Richard, Brian and Phillip, all of England; and three grandsons.

The family will receive friends beginning at 5 p.m. Friday at 2006 Longwood Ave.

RAMSEUR — Audrey Denise Richardson, 51, of 6037 Ferguson Road, died Sunday (11/10/13) at her home.

Funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at Joyce-Brady Chapel in Bennett with Chaplain Tony Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Road Baptist Church Cemetery in Randleman.

She was a native of Richmond County, and was the daughter of Arthur Jack and Betty Jo Blackmon Braddock. She had formerly worked for 22 years at Michael Thomas Furniture in Liberty. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Lee Richardson; her father; and brothers, William Alvin Braddock and Jackie Dean Braddock.

She is survived by her daughters, Shannon M. Oates and husband Billy, Karen Hassan and husband Ahmed; mother, Betty Jo Stubbs of Rockingham; sisters, Christy Nicodemus and husband Patrick of Seagrove, and Sandra Goodwin of Charleston, S.C.; brother, Michael Lisenby of Rockingham; and six grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Joyce-Brady Chapel in Bennett, and at other times at the home of her daughter, Shannon Oates in Bear Creek.
