DAVID WESLEY SANDERFORD

NEW HILL — David Wesley Sanderford, 23, died Tuesday (11/12/13) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

He was born on April 11, 1990, son of David Earl Sanderford and Susan Perkins Yoque. He was a member of the Truth Missionary Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jack E. Sanderford.

Graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Merry Oaks Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Ronald Humphreys officiating.

He is survived by his father, David Earl Sanderford of the home; mother, Susan Perkins Yoque (Marco) of Siler City; brothers, Bobby A. Sanderford (Kristal) and Donald Joe Sanderford (Erin), all of Bear Creek; paternal grandmother, Dorothy O. “Tootie” Sanderford of New Hill; maternal grandmother, Carol Thomas of New Hill, and maternal grandfather, Jimmy Perkins of Pittsboro.

The family will receive friends from noon until 1:30 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home in Moncure.

ROBERT EARNEST MCGHEE

CHAPEL HILL — Robert “Bobby” Earnest McGhee, 57, died Wednesday (11/13/13) at UNC Hospitals.

He was the son of Frances Markham McGhee and the late James Robert McGhee. He worked at UNC Facilities and Services for 30 years before retiring in 2005. He also served as a volunteer fireman and first responder for North Chatham Fire Department for 25 years. He served on the board of directors for many years.

He is survived by his mother, Frances McGhee of Chapel Hill; two brothers, Ray McGhee and wife Brenda of Mebane and Chris McGhee of Chapel Hill; and two nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Merritt’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Dr. Richard Tysinger presiding. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held before the service at the church from 2 until 2:45 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the North Chatham Fire Department, 45 Morris Road, Pittsboro, N.C. 27312; and also to Merritt’s Chapel UMC Cemetery Fund, 1090 Farrington Point Road, Chapel Hill, N.C. 27517.

DENNIS STEPHEN MASON

SANFORD — Dennis Stephen Mason, 72, died Thursday (11/14/13) at Parkview Retirement Center.

He was born in Morehead City on Nov. 27, 1940, to the late Clyde Mason and Hester Davenport Mason. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jencey Leonard, and a half-brother, Clyde Mason Jr. He served in the U.S. Army. He was an insurance adjuster in Roanoke, Va., and in Charlotte.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Pierce Mason of the home; and a brother, Joseph Van Mason of Havelock.

Funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Gilbert W. McDowell presiding. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church fellowship hall following the service.

PAUL FRANCIS ROWE KIMBER

SANFORD — Paul Francis Rowe Kimber died Sunday (11/10/13). A memorial service will be held at a later date in England.

He was born in Lyndhurst, England, a son of the late Donald Corbin Kimber and Susan Phyllis Turner. He is survived by his daughters, Philippa Kathryn Kimber Nelson and husband Chris of Sanford, and Samantha Dawn Jenner and husband Richard of England; one sister, Christine of England; four brothers, Tony, Richard, Brian and Phillip, all of England; and three grandsons.

The family will receive friends beginning at 5 p.m. today at 2006 Longwood Avenue.

WESLEY BRYANT PARRISH SR.

SANFORD — Wesley Bryant Parrish Sr., 89, died Thursday (11/14/13) at his home.

He was born in Lee County on Aug. 29, 1924, to the late Alton Lee Parrish and Lydia Jane Dalrymple Parrish. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers Gordon, Stanley, Alton and Ernest Parrish and sisters Gerline McNeill, Nettie Reid Smith and Leola Calcutt. He was a self-employed plaster contractor. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He is survived by two sons, Wesley Bryant Parrish Jr. and wife Patti, and Dwight Lee Parrish, both of Sanford; daughter, Debbie Parrish Allen of Sanford; one sister, Almeta McNeill of Sanford; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held today at 11 a.m. at Shallow Well Cemetery with Chaplin Joel Cameron officiating. The family will receive friends in the cemetery following the graveside service.

SANFORD — Kenneth Edwin Greene, 82, died Sunday (11/10/13) at Duke University Medical Center.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Greene; daughters, Diane Healy, Tammy Greene, Connie Lopez, Robin Peyton and Cherri Damiani; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

FAYE POWELL YOW

LILLINGTON — Faye Powell Yow, 73, died Thursday (11/14/13) at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.

She was born in Harnett County, the daughter of the late Obie Powell and Bertha Davis Powell. She was preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Holland.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at O’Quinn-Peebles Chapel with the Rev. Janet Buffaloe and the Rev. Michael Sadtler officiating. Burial will follow at Summerville Presbyterian Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Melvin Yow; mother, Bertha Davis Powell of Lillington, three daughters, Gloria Eller and husband Shawn, Diane Stewart and husband Michael, and Barbara Newton and husband Bryan, all of Lillington; seven grandchildren; brother, Leon Powell and wife Delia of Lillington; and several nieces and nephews.

She is survived by sons, Vincent Grant, Alonzo Peterson and Dennis Grant; daughters, Marcelline Edwards and Barbara Ann Grant; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

SANFORD — Gerald LeGrand Jamerson, 48, died Wednesday (11/13/13) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at Rogers Memorial Chapel.

He was born in Lee County, son of Janice Gardner James and the late James Albert “JA” Jamerson. He attended Calvary Missionary Methodist Church and he was the sound man with the “Angel Band.”

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Lena Warriax Jamerson; daughter, India Yvette Jamerson; two sons, Bradley James Jamerson and Tara Daffin, and Dylan Neal Jamerson, all of Sanford; sisters, Terena Jamerson Lawrence of Sanford, Gina Norton and Jamie of Cary, Tina Warriax of Maxton, Brenda Faye Stanton and Ellen Jane Holloway of McCall, S.C.; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

The family will begin receiving friends Saturday at 4 p.m. prior to the funeral.

She was born in Duluth, Minn., a daughter of the late Bjarne Blix and Alma Larsen Blix. She was a member with Eastern Star.

She is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline Kerchefski and husband Scott of Junction City, Wis., and Jennifer Delaney and husband Chad of Sanford; a brother, Rolf Blix; her ex-husband, Kurt Viertel of Stevens Point, Wis.; seven grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

CRYSTAL GAIL EAGLE

SHALLOTTE — Crystal Gail Eagle, 42, of Shallotte, formerly of  Sanford, died Wednesday, November 13, 2013, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Crystal was born on December 1, 1970, a daughter of the late Buddy Lee and Ruby Bradsher Ellis. She obtained her master’s degree in child care and development from UNC-Greensboro and owned and operated a child care facility.

Surviving are her husband of 19 years, Rodney Paul Eagle; sister, Connie Ross of Belgrade, MT; several nieces and nephews, and her two special dogs, Abby and Skipper.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 16th in Brunswick Memorial Gardens, Shallotte.
