BESSIE MAE ALSTON SCURLOCK
PITTSBORO — Bessie Mae Alston Scurlock, 83, of 910 Hillsboro St., Pittsboro, died Thursday (1/17/13) at her residence.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Alston Chapel, Pittsboro. Burial will follow at church cemetery.
No wake is scheduled.
She is survived by her sons, Timothy Scurlock (wife Kathy) and Adrian Scurlock (wife Loleta), all of Pittsboro; her brother, Edward Alston (wife Barbara) of Pittsboro; her sisters, Mary Henry Farrar (husband Walter) of Pittsboro, Patricia Ann Alston of Pittsboro, and Elrita Rodgers of Greensboro; three sisters-in-law; two special cousins and friends; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

FRANKIE MAE GLOSSON
MONCURE — Frankie Mae Glosson, 81, died Friday (1/18/13).
She was daughter of Henry and Sarah Campbell, and sister to Maude, Maxine and Peggy. She was married to Lee Triplett and later to Franklin Glosson.
She is survived by her sister Dorthy Hartley; five children, Carol Paisley, Kenneth Triplett (wife Lis), Ronald Triplett (wife Joan), Lynn Rich (husband Mack) and Tim Glosson (wife Donna); nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A service to honor and remember her will be held today at 2 p.m. at Gum Springs Baptist Church. Friends may visit with the family in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Archie Murphy Yarborough, Jr., 85, of Sanford, who died Wednesday (1/16/13), was held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Moore Union Christian Church with Pastor Terry Pleasants, Pastor Robert Yandle and Pastor David Yarborough officiating.
Burial followed at Grace Chapel Cemetery with military rites.
Pianist was Linda Spivey. Soloist was Tracy Lee. The congregation also sang.
Pallbearers were Jerry Carter, Doug Priest, Thomas Womble, Mike Yarborough, Mitch Yarborough and Ricky Yarborough.

ABERDEEN — Larry Bowden, 64, of Aberdeen, died Thursday (1/17/13) at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro.
Funeral services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Pugh & Smith Funeral Chapel in Carthage. Burial will follow in the Berkley Cemetery in Aberdeen.
He is survived by three sisters, Josephine Covington, Linda McPhatter and Cheryl Riggins; and two brothers, Samuel Bowden and Roy Bowden.
Pugh & Smith Funeral Home is serving the family.

SANFORD — Carolyn Sue Glossenger, 75, of Sanford, formerly of Allen County, Ind., died Thursday (1/17/13) at her home.

CHRISTOPHER GRAY BAKER
BROADWAY — Funeral services for Christopher Gray Baker, 33, of Broadway, who died Saturday (1/12/13), were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Broadway Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Kenneth McNeill officiating. Entombment followed at the Lee Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
During the service, Robin Seagroves was the pianist and taped music was played. Pallbearers were Jason Brown, Jeremy Wicker, Ricky Graham, Glenn Lucas, Randall Patterson and Steve Dowdy.
Arrangements were by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
EDWARD Y. FREEMAN
BROADWAY — A private memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Edward Y. Freeman, 71, of Broadway, N.C., who died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, was held Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013.
Immediate family members and relatives were present. A slideshow of pictures of his life were shown.
He was survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Mess Freeman, a sister, Anne Smeal and husband Glenn Sr. of Holly Springs; two nieces, two nephews and seven great-nieces and nephews.

ROCHELLE WILLIAMS WALKER
SANFORD — Rochelle Williams Walker, 88, born in Lee County, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Parkview Retirement Home where she was a resident.
Mrs. Walker was retired from W. Koury Company, Carnes Corporation and Wal-Mart. She taught Sunday School and was a youth leader for several years. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, writing poetry, crafts and she loved people. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tan L. Walker; parents Richard Wilton and Leacy Joyner Williams; four brothers, Wilbur, Herbert, Barden and Joyner Williams; two sisters, Annie Stone and Florene White.
She is survived by one brother, Richard M. Williams of Concord; four sisters, Pauline Cox of Parkview Retirement Center, Frances Spivey and husband Wayne of Sanford, Clara Dean and Euna Belle Dickens of Broadway; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, 2 p.m. at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church with Rev. Gilbert McDowell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

FRANCES DAVIS “FRANKIE” WOODELL
SANFORD — Frances Davis “Frankie” Woodell, of Sanford, passed away Friday, January 18, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday at First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Woodell was born in Cumberland County, a daughter of the late Henry Clay Davis Sr. and Mary Frances Lee Davis, and was preceded in death by her husband Harvey Eugene “Gene” Woodell, and a brother, Henry Clay Davis Jr. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Harriet Pickard Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Woodell is survived by two sons, Tony Woodell and wife Melissa, and Mark Woodell and wife Rhonda, all of Sanford; one daughter, Kim W. Holt and husband Alan of Sanford; six grandchildren, Hunter Woodell, Taylor Woodell, Logan Woodell, Davis Holt, Peyton Holt and Christopher Woodell; one sister, Linda D. Ford and husband Jack of Jacksonville, Fla.
The family will receive friends following the Memorial service in the Church Fellowship Hall.
