LOUISBURG — Lois Hagwood Hensley, 86, of Louisburg, died Monday, March 04, 2013, at Central Harnett Hospital.

She was born November 9, 1926, to the late Charlie and Martha Hagwood. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Elton Drake Griffin and Paul Willard Hensley, and her daughter, Paula Jo Hensley. She was a long-time member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

The family will receive friends Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church where services will follow at 2:00. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Gary Harrington of Broadway; her sons and daughters-in-law, Bunnie and Lisa Griffin of Macon, GA, Charlie and Pam Griffin of Dallas, TX; her brother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Faye Hagwood of Pennsylvania; her grandchildren, Brian Scott Wilder, Oscar Lee Harrington, Matthew Ryan Harrington, Wesley Drake Griffin, Morgan Alyce Griffin, Zachary Ralph Griffin and Charlie Griffin, Jr., Timothy Velasquez and JoAnna Velasquez and seven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 247, Louisburg, NC 27549.

DENTON, NC — Mrs. Joann Nance Hunt Keith, 77, of Denton, NC, died Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Hinkle Hospice House.

A funeral service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Smith and Brian Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A native of Randolph County, NC, Mrs. Keith was born June 3, 1935. She was the daughter of the late John Blair Hunt and Anna Leigh Kearns Hunt. She graduated from Farmer School in 1953. She worked at Stanly Memorial Hospital, Thomasville Medical Center and Mountain Vista Health Park.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Keith was preceded in death by her husbands, Wayne Keith and Frank Crissman; infant son, Kipley Sidney Keith; son, Kendell Wayne Keith; daughter, Kelly Keith Perry; brother, Sidney Hunt.

Mrs. Keith is survived by daughters, Karen Keith of Lexington, Katie Keith Hill of Denton; sister, Martha H. Luther and husband, Rex, of Denton; brother, Darrell Hunt and wife, Jane, of Asheboro; grandchildren, Mandy Perry Cole and husband David, Cassidy Keith Gould and husband, Justin, Keith Perry, Petty Officer 1st Class Cole Terrell and wife, Krystan, Paige Terrell, Brittany Keith, Petty Officer Carter Terrell, Miranda Hill, Stephanie Keith, Savannah Hill, Rayanna Petree; and great grandchildren, Deacon, Colby, Jayla and Addie.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and other times at the home of her brother, Darrell Hunt, 1226 Billy Walker Road, Asheboro.

ASHEBORO — Mrs. Vera Parks Storey, 80, of Asheboro, NC, died Monday, March 4, 2013, at her residence.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Friday, March 8, 2013, at Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church, 222 Mt. Zion Church Road, Thomasville, with Dr. E. Keith Carroll officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah UMC Cemetery in Asheboro.

A native of Darien, GA, Mrs. Storey was born December 2, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Walter Parks and Fleta Luck Parks. She was a graduate of Seagrove High School, Southern Wesleyan University and High Point University. She was a former teacher in the Asheboro City Schools. Mrs. Storey also worked at Ridge Funeral Home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Storey.

She was a member of the Wesleyan Church for over 50 years where she served in a number of areas including Sunday school teacher, member of the Local Board of Administration and Director of Children’s Ministries. She also served on the North Carolina East District Board of Administration and was a Trustee at Southern Wesleyan University. She was the first woman ever elected to the General Board of the Wesleyan Church, Indianapolis, Indiana, where she served for eight years.

Mrs. Storey is survived by son, Stephen Storey and wife, Jill, of Thomasville; daughter, Starr Storey Cromer and husband, Troy, of Greensboro; grandsons, John Eldridge “Ridge” Storey, Lleyton Charles Storey, both of Thomasville, Adam Parks Cromer, of Greensboro; sisters, Mary Parks Mitchell, of Six Mile, SC, Ruth Parks Newby, of Jamestown, and Kate Parks King and husband, Morris, of Sanford.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home.

Mrs. Storey will be missed by her family and friends, but her legacy will live on in Stephen, Starr, Ridge, Lleyton and Adam.

FUQUAY-VARINA — Kathryn Pate Broadwell, 58, died Monday (3/4/13) at Hospice of Wake County in Raleigh.

A native of Harnett County, she was the daughter of the late Grover C. and Lois Wilson Pate. She graduated from Lillington High School and continued her studies at Peace College and N.C. State where she received degrees in Business and Zoology. After graduation, she worked at First Citizens Bank in Raleigh for over 35 years.

Memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at O’Quinn-Peebles Chapel with the Rev. Ken Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

SANFORD — Gracie Cross, 66, of 519 Maple Ave., died Friday (3/1/13) at Central Carolina Hospital.

She is survived by three sons, William (Medena) Judd of the home, John (Tylesia) Judd of Durham and James (Brenda) Judd of Pittsboro; two daughters-in-law, Annette Judd and Karen Judd; one brother, Lonnie McCray of Baltimore, Md.; two sisters, Brenda Autry and Martha (James) Garrison of Baltimore, Md.; five sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

VASS — Edward DeGraffenreid, 57, died Sunday (3/3/13) at his residence.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Olive AME Zion Church in Carthage. A viewing will be held Thursday from 1 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife, Delores DeGraffenreid; stepchildren, James Bandy, John Bandy and Sandra Elliott; two sisters, Loretta Bell (Aaron) and Katrina Reed (Johnny); and 14 grandchildren.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Terri Sue Hall was held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Miller-Boles Chapel with the Rev. George Akers officiating.

One special song was played as a tribute.

PARKTON — Sally Leach Glover, 53, of 4738 Hickory Ridge Road, died Friday (3/1/13) at home.

Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today at Grays Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Hope Mills. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. A wake will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

She is survived by a daughter, Chandrika Davis (Kevin Graham) of Parkton; four sisters, Lester Mae Hayes of Charlotte, Sharon Malloy and Faye Patterson, both of Fayetteville, and Lorraine Dease of Winston-Salem; four brothers, Percy Bethea Jr. of Hope Mills, Ronnie McLaughlin and Charles McLaughlin, both of Winston-Salem, and Alphonso McLaughlin of Durham; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

SANFORD — Sherron Kay Lyons, 57, died Monday (3/4/13) at her home.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home of Sherron Lyons at 3518 Lee Ave. The funeral will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Edgewood Presbyterian Church with Dr. William Hayes presiding. ROBBINS — John Wilbert Smith, 80, of 144 Family Road, died Saturday (3/2/13) at home.

He was a member of Collins Chapel Congregational Church. He served in the U.S. Army and worked for many years for Millken Co. in Robbins.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Collins Chapel Congregational Church in Robbins with the Rev. Liston Brewington and Bishop Ricky Smith officiating. Burial will follow at New Zion Cemetery. Masonic Rites will be held from 12 until 1 p.m. and military rites will be held at the cemetery. A visitation will be held from 12 until 1 p.m. Thursday at the church prior to the service.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Smith; son, Cosmo (Nicole) Spruell of Red Springs; daughter, Faye DeWalt of Greenville; brother, Emory Richard (Barbara) Smith of Maryland; 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

COATS — Jimmy Earl Stevens, 69, of 296 E. Jackson St., died Monday (3/4/13) at home.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Coats with Dr. Jim Cochran officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Angier.

He was born March 3, 1944, in Harnett County to Earl Stevens of Coats and the late Geraline Williams Stevens. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Stevens. He was a supervisor with Burlington Industries and was a member of Coats Baptist Church.

Surviving, in addition to his father, are one daughter, Paula Stevens of Coats; son, Toby Stevens and wife Michelle of Rose City, Mich.; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sister, Darlene Grenther of Coats; and brothers, Jerry Stevens of Arkansas and Mark Stevens of Angier.

SANFORD — Graveside service for Janice Lee Hall, 73, who died Wednesday (2/27/13), was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Olivia Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Pastor George Walton officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

The Rev. George Walton played the guitar and sang a solo at the graveside.

Pallbearers were friends of the family.

LILLINGTON — Funeral service for Clarence P. Stewart, 90, who died Saturday (3/2/13), was held Tuesday at Spring Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Terry Williams officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

Special music was provided by the church choir.

Pallbearers were Nicky Tyner, Stewart Tyner, Frank Stewart, Steve Stewart, Eddie Stewart, Craig Stewart, Dr. John Adams and Dr. Marc Adams.
