RUBY WHITE BEAL COLE

GOLDSTON — Ruby White Beal Cole, 74, of Goldston-Glendon Road, Goldston died Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at her residence.

Mrs. Cole was born in Chatham County on October 25, 1938, the daughter of Loss Lynn and Nellie Mae (Joyce) White. She was a member of Bonlee Baptist Church and Badin Shores Chapel. Ruby had worked at Chatham Hospital in medical records and as a bookkeeper. She was a collector of Madame Alexander dolls and porcelain dolls, Elvis memorabilia and enjoyed long walks. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Peggy Gilmore.

She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Darrell L. Cole; one son, Kim Michael Beal and wife, Candace of Bonlee, NC; grandchildren, Brandon Beal and Brittany Beal; step-children, Alesia Cole Purvis and husband, Brian of Raleigh, NC, Bill S. Cole and wife, Andrea of Broadway, NC; step-grandchildren, Jonathan and Caroline Hunter of Bonlee, NC, Savannah, Carrie, Amber, Colby Purvis of Raleigh, NC, David Cole and wife, Darlene of Fayetteville, NC; step-great-grandson, Landon David Cole of Fayetteville, NC; special nieces and nephew, Tenita Sawyer (John), Tammy Buckner (Ritch), Brandy Oldham and John S. Gilmore (Mandy).

The family will receive friends Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC and other times at the family home. A graveside service will be held Friday, March 8, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Hope Cemetery, Bonlee with Chaplain Jamie Pearce and Rev. Darrell Williams officiating.

JOHN ANTHONY WICKER (pic)

SANFORD — John Anthony Wicker, 61, died Tuesday (3/5/13) at his home.

He was born in Lee County on Nov. 17, 1951, to the late Charles H. Wicker and Doris Fuquay Wicker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Wicker, and a sister, Terry Wicker.

He is survived by his fiancee, Joyce Black; two sons, John A. Wicker Jr. and wife Nicki of Broadway, and Bryan Wicker and wife Kimberly of Creedmoor; one brother, Michael Wicker of Swann Station; two sisters, Cynthia Myers of Broadway and Charlene Cummings of Mamers; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Swann Station Baptist Church with the Rev. Russell Blackmon officiating. Cremains will be interred at Cameron Grove Cemetery at a later date.

JAMES MELVIN BRADY

BEAR CREEK — James Melvin Brady, 60, of Clint Fields Road, died Tuesday (3/5/13) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

He was born in Chatham County on Feb. 13, 1953, the son of Lynden and Sue (Gatlin) Brady. He was self employed in home repair. He was preceded in death by his mother; and grandparents, Ernest and Viola Brady, FF and Lillie Gatlin.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie (Fields) Brady; daughter, Mary Alice Christman and husband Monte of Sanford; father, Lynden Brady of Bennett; sisters, Janette Farrington and husband Warren of Lusby, Md., Sylvia Ford and husband John of Kernersville, Pamella Salisbury of Cameron, and Karen Garner and husband Shane of Robbins; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Sandy Branch Baptist Church in Bear Creek with the Rev. Marc Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

WILLARD OPERT O’QUINN

CAMERON — Funeral service for Willard Opert O’Quinn, 73, who died Saturday (3/2/13), was held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Lemon Springs Baptist Church by Pastor Wayne O’Quinn and Pastor Andy Foley. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

During the service, the congregation led by Mary Sutherland sang and the soloist was Edward Lee. Accompanist was Janet Childress.

Pallbearers were David Baker, Ronnie Holder, Aubrey Palmer, Scott O’Quinn, Tommy O’Quinn and Larry Thomas.

TAZEWELL, Va. — James Ferguson, 76, formerly of Sanford, died Monday (3/4/13) at at Tazewell Community Hospital in Tazewell, Va.

He served in the U.S. Army.

Funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, Va. Interment will follow at Glennview Memorial Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Ferguson; two daughters, Wanda Purcell of Sanford; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; three sisters and one brother.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service on Saturday.
