WILLIAM HENRY (BILL) KEITH JR.

(June 12, 1956 - January 17, 2013)

CHICAGO, ILL — Bill Keith, 56, died Thursday, January 17, 2013, at his home in Chicago.

Bill was born in Frankfurt, Germany to the late William H. "Billy" Keith and Annie Adelene McLeod Keith, while Billy was stationed there with the U.S. Air Force. Bill was a 1975 graduate of Sanford Central High School (where he was on the football team); and he attended Chowan College in Murfreesboro, N.C. Bill was a nationally ranked Triathlete, and had twice finished the Hawaiian Ironman. For the past two years, he had won most of the big races in which he competed. Bill was a drivetrain product manager for SRAM in Chicago, and previously was Cannondale Bicycle's product manager for road bikes and was well-known and respected across the cycling industry. Bill was a person who absolutely squeezed the most out of every single day, he was an incredible person; a dedicated husband to his wife Pam, beloved brother to his sisters, 'Uncle Bo' to his nieces and nephews, and a passionate athlete.

Bill is survived by his wife of 25 years, Pam Lubenow Keith of Longwood, FL; his five sisters: Katherine Keith Garey of Sanford; Jann Goldenthal and husband Lance of Raleigh; Alexa June Landsheft of Virginia Beach, VA; Deborah Keith-Castillo and husband Tony of Huntington Beach, CA; and Rosie Deese and husband David of Apex; two aunts, Mildred McLeod of Charlotte, and Peggy Buchanan of Broadway; three nieces: Anne Garey Bjergstad and husband Kim of Havdrup, Denmark; Lillian Goldenthal of New York, NY, and Katherine Ann Castillo of Huntington Beach, CA; six nephews: Logan Keith Garey of Boulder, CO; Henry Landsheft and Jeremy Landsheft, both of Virginia Beach, VA; Keith E. Castillo, of Huntington Beach, CA; Stuart Deese, and William Deese, both of Apex; one grandneice: Caroline Bjergstad of Havdrup, Denmark; and two grandnephews: Andrew and William Bjergstad of Havdrup, Denmark; and many cousins and friends.

A beach memorial will be held on March 9, 2013 at Bethune Beach Park in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. BROADWAY — Ms. Marta T. Zapata, 62, of Broadway, N.C. died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at UNC-Chapel Hill Hospital, Chapel Hill, N.C.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013 at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Sanford. Burial will follow in the St. Stephen Catholic Church Cemetery.

She is survived by her sister, Veronica Yanes; nephews, Cornelio Cerrato, Alberto Cerrato, Pablo Rubio Jr., and Mario Gomez; nieces, Diana Gomez, Sendy Cerrato, Carolina Rodriguez, Gabriela Rodriguez, Kaloby Melissa Cerrato; cousins, Francisco Cruz Yanes, Pablo Rurio, Wilfrida Rubio, Adilia Herrera and many other family members.

APEX — Ronnie Lee Mason, 56, died Wednesday (3/6/13) at his home.

He was born in Orange County on July 9, 1956, the son of Brodie Lee Mason Jr. and Elizabeth “Lib” McCoy Mason. He attended New Hope Church. He worked over 30 years at Stone Truck Parts. He was predeceased by his father, B.L. Mason, Jr., on June 20, 2012.

He is survived by his wife, Jessica Dominick Mason; son, Parker Mason of Apex; daughters, Ashley Whitaker and her husband Kain of Pittsboro, Leslie Mason of Cary and Taylor Mason of Apex; his mother, Lib M. Mason of Apex; and his sister and brother-in-law, Patt and Terry Sturdivant of Chapel Hill.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bell’s Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Paul Alverson presiding. Interment will follow at Bell’s Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family today from 6 until 8 p.m. at Hall–Wynne Funeral Home in Pittsboro.

NEW HILL — Lucille Partin Holden, 90, died Wednesday (3/6/13) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Partin and Sally Rebecca Holt Partin, and her husband, Silas Presley Holden. She was a member of New Elam Christian Church.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Elam Christian Church with the Rev. Gary Moore officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

She is survived by her daughters, Frances Sue Yow and husband Clarence of Moncure, Brenda Kay Odell and husband Robert of Knightdale, Rebecca Lou Baker and husband Stoney of Holly Springs, Bobbie Jean Mendenhall and husband Eddie of Moncure, and Karen Ann Martin and husband Matt of Sanford; sons, Loyd Arnold Holden and wife Patricia of New Hill, and Crist Leon Holden of the home; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home of Moncure and other times at the home of Eddie and Bobbie Mendenhall.

SANFORD — Funeral service for James Utley, 72, who died Thursday (2/28/13), was held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Church of God of Prophecy with Pastor Luther Jackson officiating. Burial was at Lee Memory Gardens.

The church choir sang.

Pallbearers were church members.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Gracie Lee McCray Cross, 66, who died Friday (3/1/13), was held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Apex with the Rev. William Y. Davis officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

Faye Hackney and Jim Hackney sang.

Pallbearers were Jeremy Trapp, Johnny Wilson, Frederick Hackney, Ken Hackney, Melvin Gill and Chris Harris.

SHERRON KAY LYONS

SANFORD — Funeral service for Sherron Kay Lyons, 57, who died Monday (3/4/13), was conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. at Edgewood Presbyterian Church with Dr. William Hayes officiating. Burial followed at Lee Memory Gardens.

Pianist was Eugenia Thompson and the organist was Wilson Weathers. The congregation sang two hymns and the Edgewood Presbyterian Church choir sang.

Pallbearers were Spencer Wall, Tommy Martin, Lynn Lyons, Marty Parish, Ray Wilson and Wayne Randall.

BETTY MAE WALDECK LOHMILLER

WHISPERING PINES — Betty Mae Waldeck Lohmiller, 87, died Wednesday (3/6/13) at the FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.

A celebration of life will be held at the Country Club of Whispering Pines in April.

Born Feb. 18, 1926 in Lyndhurst, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth Waldeck, and wife of the late Roy Vernon Lohmiller. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Rose Louise Edwards. Before coming to North Carolina, she was a bookkeeper for Bell Telephone in New Jersey. A resident of Whispering Pines for over 35 years, she was an active member in the community working at the World Golf Hall of Fame, The Thrift Shop of Whispering Pines and she was a member of The Country Club of Whispering Pines.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Lorraine of Chicago, Ill, two nieces, two nephews, and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
