GLINDA RAY DOUGLAS
HOLDEN BEACH — Mrs. Glinda Ray Douglas, 62, of Supply, formerly of Sanford, died peacefully Thursday, March 20, 2014 with her family by her side.
Glinda was born in Lee County on April 13, 1951 to the late Howard & Nellie West Baker. She was a gifted piano player and learned how to play by ear at the age of two. Glinda was a member of several gospel groups and thoroughly enjoyed gardening, walking on the beach and collecting sea shells. Glinda was extremely devoted to her family and loved them dearly.
She is survived by her husband, Larry “Buck” Douglas of Supply; her sons, Scott Douglas and his wife Darlene of Sanford, and Patrick Douglas and his wife Melissa of Sanford; seven grandchildren, Ben, Matthew, Joley, Tyler, Kayla, Madison, Hannah; and one great-grandchild, Nya.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Countryside Presbyterian Church, 127 Ponderosa Road, Cameron, North Carolina. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Family will receive friends after the service in the fellowship hall.

RICHARD DANE NEWTON
SANFORD — Richard “Rich” Dane Newton, 69, a retired journeyman electrician, died Saturday, March 15, 2014 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst surrounded by family. Rich, a native of Yuba-Sutter, California, called Sanford his home for the past 9 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of five years and companion of 20 years, Lonnie Newton. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Lori Ackerman, Dina Newton, and Lori Lieziert; stepdaughters, Rebecca Hernandez and Hanna Basham; 12 grandchildren; sisters, Joan Hayes and Linda Bunch; nieces, nephews and a host of long-time friends.
Rich was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Simon Newton; mother, Mae Lorene Allen; sisters, Wanda and Geraldine (“Geri”), and brothers, Don, Ronnie and Larry.
Rich will be remembered for his fun loving personality, signature deep voice, and his amazing sense of humor. Rich enjoyed spending time with his family and riding his Harley Davidson with good friends.
A private service was held at Cape Fear Crematorium on March 17, 2014.
A celebration of his life will be held in Chico, California on Saturday, April 12, 2014.
CHARLIE Y. SMITH
ROCKINGHAM — Charlie Y. Smith, 91, of Rockingham, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Fayetteville.
He was born September 17, 1922 in Ellerbe, NC, a son of the late Claudius Young Smith and Mae Sharpe Smith. Charlie served his country in the US Navy during World War II. He was honorably discharged due to injuries while serving in the Pacific Theater. In his youth, Charlie loved to hunt and enjoyed bird watching. Later in life he became very fond of playing Bingo and was known as “Lucky Charlie”. He loved KFC, and any type of homemade food; especially desserts. Charlie was extremely gracious to his family, friends, and caregivers. A true Southern Gentleman who loved everyone equally.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 23rd in the chapel of Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham with Dr. David A. Boroughs officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Cemetery, Mt. Gilead, NC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, James Frank Smith, Willie Melvin Smith, Joe Thomas Smith, Flora Smith Wilmoth, George Locke Smith, Lewis Carl Smith, Marvin Lee Smith, Curtis Monroe Smith, and Alfred Howell Smith.
Surviving are his sisters, Beulah Smith Chappell of Cedar Hill, FL, Evelyn Smith Lehrschall of Raleigh, NC, and Virgie Smith Hamer of Sanford, NC and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham.

EASTOVER — Justin Michael Mozingo, 21, of 1617 Middle Road, Eastover, died Thursday (3/13/14) at home.
He is survived by his mother, Martha Michelle Mozingo Villanueva; father, Padro “Pete” Villanueva; grandmother, Thelma Mozingo; brother, Michael Mozingo; and sisters, Jessica Villanueva, April Mozingo and Amanda Westmeyer.
Funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Crystal Springs Chapel in Hope Mills. Burial will be at a later date.
No visitation will be held.
Arrangements are by Elizabeth Street Mortuary in Spring Lake.
