SYMERTRA BETHEA ALSTON

SANFORD — Symertra Bethea Alston, 76, of 926 Lansing St., died Tuesday (8/20/13) at her residence. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Knotts Funeral Home.

NAOMI BYRD LOCKLEAR

LUMBERTON — Naomi Byrd Locklear, 61, of 531 Shannon Road, died Sunday (8/18/13) at the Southeastern Hospice House.

She was born in Robeson County on Oct. 29, 1951, and was a daughter of the late Quimbie Locklear and Liverta Musselwhite Locklear.

She is survived by her husband, Hulen Locklear; three daughters, Theresa Ransom and husband Eugene, Lisa Locklear and Toni Byrd; a brother, Franklin Byrd; three sisters, Minnie Buleza, Hazel Fitch and Patricia Byrd; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday at Revels Funeral Home Chapel in Lumberton with the Rev. Gilbert Walker officiating. Burial followed in the Gardens of Faith Cemetery on Fayetteville Road in Lumberton.

Arrangements were by Revels Funeral Home in Lumberton.

HELEN L. DAVIS

SANFORD — Funeral service for Helen L. Davis, 91, who died Saturday (8/17/13), was conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. George Dark and the Rev. Bob Hill officiating. Burial was at Lee Memory Gardens.

Soloist was Dorothy Matthews.

Pallbearers were friends of the family.

Arrangements were by Knotts Funeral Home.

SYLVIA MCBRIDE TATE

SANFORD — Funeral service for Sylvia McBride Tate, 78, who died Friday (8/16/13), was conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bruce Petty officiating. Burial was at Lee Memory Gardens.

The church choir sang.

Pallbearers were friends of the family.

Arrangements were by Knotts Funeral Home.

JOANNE SKORNIA KLUMB

SILER CITY — Joanne Skornia Klumb, 68, of Siler City-Glendon Road, died Tuesday (8/20/13) at her residence.

She was born Nov. 1, 1944 in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of Frank and Gertrude (Prybyzylski) Skornia. She had been employed at AJ Schneierson and later Glendale. She was a member of Hillbrook Wesleyan Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Deboraha Stafford of High Point; four sons, William Klumb and wife Brenda, and Donnie Klumb, all of Siler City, Ray Klumb and wife Robin of Bahama, and Keith Klumb and wife Nancy of Graham; sisters, Lorraine of Wind Lake, Wis., Sister Jeannette of Chicago, Ill., Mary Jane of Racine, Wis., Diane of Brookfield, Wis., Rosemary and Suzanne of Milwaukee, Wis., Christaine and Nancy of Oak Creek, Wis., and Arelene and Janet of Siler City; brother, John of Milwaukee, Wis.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at First Wesleyan Church in Siler City. A memorial service will follow at the church with the Rev. Dennis Boone officiating.

LOIS WOMACK PARSON

SANFORD — Funeral service for Lois Womack Parson, 88, who died Sunday (8/18/13), was held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Baptist Chapel Church with the Rev. Alex Smith and the Rev. George Stallings officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

Pianist was Wendy Womack Smith. Soloist was Audrey Womack.

Pallbearers were Russell Thomas, Gene Parson, Tony Dawkins, Mark Durham, Philip King and Tillman Howard.

Arrangements were by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.
