ROBBINS — Kathleen Hussey Marley, 79, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013, surrounded by her family, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, NC.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, NC. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Pine Rest Cemetery, Robbins, NC, with Reverend Sam Swinney officiating.
Mrs. Marley was a native of Moore County. She was a homemaker and loved caring for her family and home. She was a daughter of the late Oscar and Glenna Williams Hussey. She was preceded in death by husband of 59 years, William Graham Marley Sr.; brothers: Tim and Sonny Hussey; sisters: Mazie White, Ethleen Luck and Joyce Anne Hussey.
Kathleen is survived by daughter, Janet Marley Derrickson and husband Vance of Sanford; sons: William Graham Marley, Jr. and wife Donna of Fuquay-Varina, Tony Marley and wife Misty of Robbins; grandchildren: Joseph Derrickson, Ashley Marley Davis and husband Daniel, Justin Marley; sisters: Helen Williams and husband Foy, and Betty Key; brother: Tommy Hussey and wife Judy.

JOYCE VAUGHN BEAL
GOLDSTON — Joyce Vaughn Beal, 71, of Beal Road, Goldston, died Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford.
Mrs. Beal was born in Chatham County on March 15, 1942, the daughter of John and Josie (Gaines) Vaughn. She had been employed as an inspector at Mastercraft. Joyce was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and enjoyed reading her Bible, and going out to eat with the senior citizens group from church. She also enjoyed sewing. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Reid O. Beal; daughter, Tammy Beal Buie; father, John Robert Vaughn; brother, John Wayne "Weasel" Vaughn; sister, Ada Jean Jones.
She is survived by two sons: Randy Beal and Marty Beal, both of Goldston, NC; mother, Josie (Gaines) Vaughn of Goldston; grandchildren, Allison Buie Strohacker, Brittany Anne Beal and Brandon Dean Beal; son-in-law, Allen Buie of Vass, NC; great-granddaughter, Serene Elizabeth Womble.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 24, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC and other times at the family home.
The funeral will be Sunday, August 25, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church, 3825 Bonlee-Carbonton Road, Goldston, with Rev. Mike Garner and Rev. Bob Griffith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

DANIEL NOAH PHILLIPS
BENNETT — Daniel Noah Phillips, 86, of 12 Buffalo St., died Thursday (8/22/13) at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.
Graveside funeral service will be conducted Sunday at Bennett Baptist Church Cemetery at 2 p.m. with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
He was a Chatham County native and was retired owner and operator of Dan's Sporting Goods in Bennett. He was an Army and Air Force veteran and had attended Bennett Baptist Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Tonda Phillips of Bennett; sister, Lucy Phillips Pugh of Bennett; three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the graveside service and other times at the home of his sister.

SYMERTRA B. ALSTON
SANFORD — Symertra B. Alston, 76, of 926 Lansing St., died Tuesday (8/20/13) at her residence.
She is survived by her daughters, Sarah Alston McBride (Bobby), Patricia Alston and Delores Sommerville (Raymond); one son, James Lewis Alston; two sisters, Daisy Chamber and Rose Lee Sutton; 13 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Blandonia Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to funeral at the church. Burial will follow at Minter Cemetery.
