SARAH FRANCES COGGINS LEE

SANFORD — Mrs. Sarah Frances Coggins Lee, age 76, of Sanford, NC, died Sunday, August 25, 2013 at her home.

She was born in Lee County on July 31, 1937, to the late Hurley D. Coggins and Lacy Jones Coggins. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Bobbie Gene Lee; son, James Roy Lee; and siblings, HD Coggins Jr., Etheline Gunter, Norma Logan and Josephine Moree. Mrs. Lee was a member of Grace Christian Church and was retired from Magneti-Marelli. She was known for her loving and giving spirit.

Mrs. Lee is survived by three sons, John David Lee of Sanford, Donald Eugene “Doc” Lee of Cameron and Robert Joseph “Bobby” Lee of Sanford; sisters, Marguerite Ferguson and Honoree Donathan of Sanford, Linda Fogarty and Kay Welch of Sebring, FL and Gayle Burns of Okeechobee, FL; brothers, Jack and Mark Coggins of Sanford and Rex Coggins of Tampa, FL; two grandsons, Brandon and Jonathan Lee of Sanford; two granddaughters, Tianna and Amber Lee of Ohio and three great-grandchildren, Anthony, Alora and Marie.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 4:30 p.m. at Grace Chapel Church with the Rev. Robert Yandle presiding. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the funeral service (3:30 to 4:30 p.m.) also at the church on Wednesday. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

KAREN BECKMANN SHARPE

SOUTHERN PINES — Karen Beckmann Sharpe of Penick Village died Wednesday (8/21/13) at Hospice House in Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be held at the Penick Village Chapel on Sunday, Sept. 8, at 1 p.m.

She was born Nov. 21, 1934, the daughter of Dr. Olive J. Kooyman and Emil Bulck. For many years she resided in the Oyster Bay, N.Y., area, but relocated to Southern Pines in 1986. She was predeceased by her parents; first husband, Arthur H. Beckmann in 1988; her youngest son, Randolph W. Beckmann; and her brother, William F. Bulck.

She is survived by her husband, H. Jack Sharpe Jr.; three sons, Dale (Mary) Beckmann of Oyster Bay, N.Y., Arthur W. (Carol) Beckmann of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and Jon Beckmann of North Palm Beach, Fla.; her daughter-in-law, Maryann Beckmann of Oyster Bay, N.Y.; one daughter, Patricia A. (Stephen) Iacampo of New Berlin, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Juanita Stevens Hunter, 86, who died Wednesday (8/21/13), was held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Emmanuel Congregational Christian Church by Dr. Barry Drum. Burial followed at Buffalo Cemetery.

During the service, soloist was Anne Edens and the pianist/organist was Rosemary Parten. Family reflections were by Brenda S. Sadeghi and Katharine Brannon.

Pallbearers were George Brannon, Katharine Brannon, Mason Brannon, Matthew Brannon, Ronald Stevens and Don Worsley.

SANFORD — Ernest Dale McNeill, 63, died Saturday (8/24/13) at his home.

He was born in Lee County to the late Preston McNeill and Girlene Parrish McNeill.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Cox McNeill of the home; son, Ryan Patterson and wife Jenny of Mamers; daughters, Sara Allen and husband Lee of Carthage, and Jennifer Howell and husband Daniel of Sanford; brother, Harold McNeill of Sanford; and six grandchildren.

The family received friends Monday at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be conducted today at 2 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church in Mamers with the Rev. Patrick Broaddus officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

PITTSBORO — Carl Murdock, 82, of 1386 Hillsboro St., died Thursday (8/22/13) at Genesis Rehab Center in Siler City.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Centennial AME Zion Church in Bear Creek.

He is survived by seven children, Carolyn, Sharon, Carlos, Harry, Renee, Linda and Horace, all of Philadelphia, Pa.; one brother, Ervin Murdock; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Faye Alease Stone Eads was held Monday at Miller-Boles Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Smith officiating. The family met with friends one hour prior to the service.

During the service, three special songs were played.

Following the funeral, a graveside service was held at Buffalo Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Allen Eads, Robbie Hurlburt, Ronnie Stone, Gary Trull, Kenneth Williams and Marshall Eads.

SIDNEY ALTON MCNEILL

SEAGROVE — Sidney Alton McNeill, 80, formerly of 7219 Hussey-Williams Road, died Monday (8/26/13) at Woodland Hill Center in Asheboro.

Graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Luke Roberts officiating.

He was a machine operator for the N.C. Dept. of Transportation and had attended Robbins Bible Methodist Church. He was the son of the late Causie and Maggie Cheek McNeill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Mae McNeill; brothers, Herman McNeill and Doc McNeill; and sisters, Myrtle Nalls and Bertie Welch.

He is survived by sons, Randy McNeill and wife Teresa of Biscoe, Ray McNeill and wife Denise, and Bobby McNeill and wife Tamatha of Asheboro; sister, Dollie Maness of Robbins; and two grandchildren.

Viewing will be held today from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday morning at Joyce-Brady Chapel in Bennett. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Symertra Bethea Alston, 76, who died Tuesday (8/30/13), was conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Blandonia Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Mamie Hooker and Pastor Cathy Ray officiating. Burial was at Minter Cemetery.

Music was provided by Myra Quick, Bridgette Paige, Elder Allen McLean and Brittany Yarborough.

Pallbearers were grandsons.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Diane Morrison, 55, who died Thursday (8/22/13), was conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Works For Christ Christian Center with Dr. Joyce Blue and Dr. Grant Blue officiating. Burial was at Lee Memory Gardens.

The Potter’s House Choir sang and Priscilla Thompson was soloist.

Pallbearers were friends of the family.
