NANCY GUNTER BRIDGES

ROCKY POINT — Nancy Gunter Bridges, 82, of Rocky Point, NC, died Monday, August 26, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Sanford, NC, May 21, 1931 to Eddie Jones and Mary Matthews Gunter. She was a member of Wrightsboro Baptist Church, Wilmington, NC. She retired as a Patient Advocate from New Hanover Regional Medical Center in 1996 and after being retired two days, she began her most loved job at Andrews Mortuary as Receptionist. She enjoyed gardening and sewing. Nancy always loved cooking for her family and friends. Being the excellent cook she was, she always looked forward to Christmas with excitement and her love in preparing that special fresh coconut cake for the Andrews family and her children. She always gave her love and time to others before thinking of herself. She will be remembered for her kind and warm compassion towards everyone she came in contact with. Thank you Mama for giving us a special home, a home built on the foundation of your love. We will always love you, Mama!

Surviving are two sons, David Bridges, and Craig Bridges and wife Marilyn; two daughters, Mary Beth Burger and husband Jim, and Susan Bridges; two grandchildren, Jonathan Bridges and Savannah Bridges; one sister, Geraldine McGinnis; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2013 at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sea Lawn Memorial Park in Hampstead, NC.

MONCURE — Jerome Lee Taylor, 64, of 1377 East Gargus Road, died Sunday (8/25/13) at Wake County Hospice in Raleigh.

He is survived by his wife, Ellaweta Taylor; children, Corwin T. Taylor, Jerome L. Allen (Marsha), Lyonelle Allen, George L. Taylor (Pamela), Lucretia L. Ross (Micah), and Brandon McKean; his mother, Florence R. Taylor; stepchildren, Shawntelle L. Sledge, Jumanne R. Sledge, Carin D. Bellamy (Derrick), Jonakieta R. Glenn (Stacy) and Dawn L. Duncan (Will); brother, Charles R. Taylor; sisters-in-law, Sharon L. Sledge, Diane E. Mitchell (Robert); brothers-in-law, Keith Cooper (Annette), Bertram P. Cooper and George Cooper (Mary); 38 grandchildren; three aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Mt. View AME Zion Church in Moncure. Burial will follow at Seymore Cemetery in Moncure. A wake will be held Friday from 1:30 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.

SUSAN WICKER HAYMORE

SILER CITY — Susan Wicker Haymore, 69, of East Sixth Street, died Tuesday (8/27/13) at her residence.

She was born in Iredell County on Sept. 20, 1943, the daughter of Walter G. and Bertha (Harper) Wicker. She was a member of the First Wesleyan Church of Siler City and a graduate of High Point Memorial School of Nursing, class of 1964. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers and sisters, Frank Wicker, Donald Wicker, Phoebe Hamer, Virginia "Jenny" Hudson and Walter Guy "Buck" Wicker Jr.

She is survived by one daughter, Amy Teague and husband Joe of Snow Camp; two sons, Joey C. Hussey and wife Christina Lundqvist of Greensboro, and Robbie G. Hussey and wife Tara of Bear Creek; one sister, Carol Johnson and husband Donald of Siler City; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, and other times at the home of the son, Robbie and Tara Hussey, 1795 Oakley Church Road, Bear Creek.

Funeral service will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at First Wesleyan Church in Siler City with the Rev. Eddie McClure and the Rev. Donald Southern officiating. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Park in Siler City.

PITTSBORO — Funeral service for Carl Eugene Murdock, 82, who died Thursday (8/22/13), was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Centennial AME Zion Church in Bear Creek with the Rev. Marcus Williams officiating. Burial was at Centennial Cemetery.

Soloist was Rick Goldston.

Pallbearers were relatives and friends.
