JOHN HARRISON BUIE JR.
BROADWAY — John Harrison Buie Jr., 65, of 1646 Kings Mill Road, Ridgeway, Va., formally of Broadway, died Tuesday (8/19/14) at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Christine Panell-Buie; two daughters, Patricia Sellars and Ann Buie; four sons, Ricky Buie (Sharon), Ronnie Buie (Tonya), Donnie Buie (Tiphany) and Kelby Buie (Sharon); his mother, Gertha M. Buie; four sisters, Gladys Fulton (Arthur), Ora Buie, Phyllis Dunham (Michael) and Wanda Eddings (Stephen); four brothers, James Buie, Daniel Buie, Thomas Buie (Gwen) and Benjamin Buie (Alan); one stepdaughter, Catrina Stokes; one stepson, Leon Stokes Jr.; two uncles; three aunts; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday (8/25/14) at Cameron Grove A.M.E. Zion Church in Broadway.
Funeral arrangements are by Knotts Funeral Home in Sanford.
BRENDA MCNEILL WILLETT
SANFORD — Funeral services for Brenda McNeill Willett, 70, of Sanford, who died Tuesday (8/19/14), were conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at the Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church with Rev. Doug Houston officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
During the service, Gene McNeill was the soloist, and the Mount Pisgah Church choir sang. Pallbearers were Ronnie Martin, Frankie Harmon, James Holder, Alex Holder, Ronnie Johnson and Gene McNeill. Nancy McCurry was the organist.
Arrangements were by Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.
KATHERINE M. MANESS
SANFORD — Katherine M. Maness, 65, of Sanford, died Thursday (8/21/14) at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday (8/24/14) at her home at 1364 Rosser Road, Sanford.
She is survived by her husband, Timothy Wayne Maness; four sons, Tonny E. Upchurch Jr., Russell T. Upchurch, James N. Sheets and Brandon L. Sheets; one daughter, Karla Upchurch; two stepsons, William Wayne and Brandon W. Maness; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

CHARLES EDWARD NANCE
A graveside service for Charles Edward Nance, 77, of Laurinburg, formerly of Sanford, who died Wednesday (8/20/14), was held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Lee Memory Gardens in Sanford, with Chaplain Joel Cameron officiating. The eulogy was by nephew Dan Hamrick.
Pallbearers were Chris Nance, Patrick Nance and Chuck Sharrett.
Arrangements were by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home in Sanford.
