MARGERY LEE GEIGER WRIGHT

SANFORD — Margery Lee Geiger Wright, 80, of Sanford, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Central Carolina Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Grace Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Wright was born in Sewickley, PA, a daughter of the late LeVan R.  Geiger and Bessie Beeler Geiger Bostrom and was preceded in death by a sister, Judith Reid. Mrs. Wright was a member of Grace Chapel Church, a Girl Scout Leader for many years, operated Margie's Typing Service and over the years wrote many articles for The Sanford Herald.

Mrs. Wright is survived by her husband of 55 years, Richard Vernon Wright; daughters, Marilyn Lee Wright Pollock of Winston-Salem, and Marion Lynn Wright Jones and husband Alfred of Sanford; sons, David Richard Wright and wife Sharon of Willow Springs and Robert James Wright of Sanford; a sister, Eleanor Geiger of Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren, Leia Wright, Jonathan Wright and wife Cassy, Jillian Pollock, Christopher Pollock, Shannon Jones, Cheryl Jones Bennett and husband Michael, and Sean Wright; five great-grandchildren, Skylar, Stephen, Mason, Allyson and Benjamin.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home.

DONALD RAY HIGH

SANFORD — Donald Ray High, 88, of Sanford, formerly of Rocky Mount, died Saturday, June 21, 2014.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pineview Cemetery in Rocky Mount.

Dr. High was born in Nash County, son of the late George High and Vena Bobbitt High. He was a graduate of Red Oak High School, Atlantic Christian College and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. He was a member of Omega Delta National Alumni Assn., and a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during W.W. II. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Dr. John Thomas High and George Gerald High who died in WW II at the Battle of the Bulge.

Dr. High is survived by his sister, Helen H. Dusenbury of Sanford; nephew, David Dusenbury and wife Renee of Sanford.

JIMMIE ROBERT BRYANT

CAMERON — Jimmie Robert Bryant, 52, of Cameron, died Sunday (6/22/14) at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.

A celebration of life will be held today at 6 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bill Davis officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.

He was born in Huntsville, Ala., on June 19, 1962, to James and Mary Morrison Bryant. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Wendy Hardy Bryant; daughter, Ashley Nicole Bryant of Cameron; sister, Terry Kay Bryant of Cameron; one granddaughter; one niece; one great-niece, and a host of friends.

JERRY LOUIS GRIMES

SILER CITY — Jerry Louis Grimes, 86, of Siler City died Sunday (6/22/14) at his residence.

He was born in Harnett County on May 20, 1928, the son of Thomas H. and Glenna (Johnson) Grimes. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Siler City, and the Siler City Masonic Lodge #403 A.F. & A.M. He attended Wake Forest University and was the owner/operator of Grimes Jewelry Store from 1948 until 1963. He was a graduate of “Municipal and County Administration,"  Institute of Government at UNC-Chapel Hill. He was a member of the Chatham County Wildlife Club and a former board member of the Siler City Airport Authority. He was an Eagle Scout and a former Scoutmaster. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Curtis Grimes; his parents; and brother, Francis H. Grimes.

He is survived by his wife, Jane (Dennis) Grimes; daughter, Deborah L. Grimes of Siler City; sons, Gregory T. Grimes and wife Debbie of Siler City, and Dennis Norris and wife Jaki of Richmond, Va.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home in Siler City.

Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Siler City with the Rev. Tony Capehart and Jay Howell officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Siler City.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Charles Hugh Angel Jr., 76, of Sanford, who died Friday (6/20/14), was held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Broadway Town Cemetery with the Rev. John Hackney officiating. Ronnie Cox played the guitar. Military honors were rendered.

Pallbearers were Robert Maddox, Wilson Myers, Joe Edwards, Marion Poe, Tim Coleman and Benny Goldberg.

Honorary pallbearers were Norris Lee, Richard Womack, Billy Buchanan, Jack Wicker, Doc Oldham, Jimmy Byrd and Robert Gunter.

SANFORD — Memorial service for John William (Jack) Louer Jr., 97, of Sanford, who died Wednesday (6/18/14), was held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Jonesboro United Methodist Church with the Rev. Hunter Preston officiating.

Organist was Dr. Daniel Hester. Soloist and guitarist was Robert Watson. The congregation also sang.

BOBBY RAY SNIPES

SANFORD — Funeral service for Bobby Ray Snipes, 37, of Sanford, who died Wednesday (6/18/14), was conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Knotts Funeral Home with the Rev. Timothy Worthy officiating. Burial was at Lee Memory Gardens.

Soloist was LaVerne Silas Newby.

Pallbearers were friends of the family.

MONCURE — Robert L. Smith, 60, of 7586 Moncure-Pittsboro Road, Moncure, died Monday (6/23/14) at his residence. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Knotts Funeral Home.

GOLDSTON — Hubert Headen, 82, of 326 Horton Road, Goldston, died Sunday (6/22/14) at his residence.

He is survived by one daughter, Virginia Jones of Sanford; two sons, Antwan and Anthony Headen of Sanford; one brother, Adolphus Headen of Goldston; five sisters, Bessie Glover and Priscilla Headen, both of Sanford, Izetta Rives of the home, and Arzelia Headen and Sharon Wicker (Roy), both of Goldston; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at Roberts Chapel Baptist Church in Goldston.

Arrangements are by Knotts Funeral Home.

WOODROW MACK NIXON

SANFORD — Funeral service for Woodrow Mack Nixon, 92, of Sanford, who died Tuesday (6/17/14), was held Monday at 3 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Royce Baker officiating. Burial followed at Buffalo Cemetery with military rites.

Recorded music was played. A daughter, Sharon Nixon-Escochea, gave the eulogy. Two video tributes were shared during the service.

Pallbearers were Kevin Spivey, Andy Holder, Bobby Hurley, Gavin DelGado, Jesse Escochea and Kris Biggers.
