PATRICIA DIANE DURHAM
SANFORD — Patricia Diane Durham, age 66, of Sanford, N.C., died Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
She was born on August 10, 1947, to the late Jesse Everette Durham and Arlene Kline Durham. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Richard Durham and Robert Durham and his wife Kevelynn. Patricia was a retired supply clerk for the United States Government and was a member of Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, David Glenn Johnson and wife Leah of Sanford; daughter, Beverly Diane Johnson of Sanford; brothers, Rev. Ronald Durham and wife Linda of Georgia and James Durham and wife Elizabeth of Idaho; sister-in-law, Dianne Durham of Georgia; and six grandchildren: Krysta Johnson, Savannah Johnson, David Johnson Jr., Amber Johnson, Kalyse Reives and Alexander Johnson.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 30, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Calvin Sayles officiating. Eulogy will be given by Rev. Brett Durham.
The family will receive friends, also on Monday, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the hallway out from the Bullock-Matthews Choir Room.
Burial will follow at Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

PORTER GRAY HARDY
CARTHAGE — Porter Gray Hardy, 89, of Carthage died Thursday (6/26/14) at his home.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Summer Hill Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Arnold Comer and the Rev. Edwin Moore.
A native of Surry County, he was the last surviving child of of the late Dallas and Lillie Brown Hardy. He retired from the N.C. Department of Transportation where he operated a motor grader for 38 years.
He was preceded in death by his former wife, Ruby McIntosh Hardy; and sons, Gerald Gray Hardy, Gary Lynn Hardy and Kenneth Lee Hardy.
He is survived by his daughter, Annette H. Taylor and husband Billy of Carthage; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of Annette and Billy Taylor.

GUY KENNIS QUICK JR.
SANFORD — Guy Kennis Quick Jr., 66, of 1349 Summerset Pl., Sanford, died Tuesday (6/24/14) at his home.
Funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church on Colon Road with the Rev. George Dark officiating. Interment will follow at Lee Memory Gardens.
He was a 1966 graduate of W.B. Wicker High School. He also served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his fiancee, Tennessee Richmond; mother, Louise Quick; children, Barbara Kellam (Jay), Takenia Canady (Jayson), Breana Quick, Dre Richmond and Makel Quick; three grandchildren; one sister, Martha Petty (Jimmie); two brothers, Brenell Quick and Ezzard Quick; one foster sister; one aunt, and several nieces and nephews.
No wake will be held. The family will receive friends at the home.

ROBERT LEWIS SMITH
MONCURE — Funeral service for Robert Lewis Smith, 60, who died Monday (6/23/14), was held at 1 p.m. Friday at Liberty Chapel in Moncure with Apostle Norma Bryant and the Rev. Stanley Burnette officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.
The Mt. Olive Male Chorus sang.
Pallbearers were members of his class of 1972, family and friends.

REV. FRED JULIUS PLEASANT
GARLAND — Rev. Fred Julius Pleasant, 87, of Garland, died Thursday (6/26/14) at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson with Dr. Herbert Carter and Dr. Don Sauls officiating. Burial will follow at the Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Angier.
He was born July 9, 1926, in Harnett County to the late Joseph C. and Pearl Guy Pleasant. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Dean Pleasant. He served the N.C. Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Churches in Lillington, Benson, Faison, Sanford and surrounding areas. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Wright Pleasant; daughters, Ann Cantwell of Pinehurst, and Teresa Wylie and husband David of Raleigh; sons, Julius D. “Butch” Pleasant of Whispering Pines, and Tim Pleasant and wife Tricia of Fremont; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Glenwood Pleasant and wife Ruth of Angier; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson.
