RACHEL RASH MCNAIR
SILER CITY — Rachel Rash McNair, 81, of Siler City died Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Laurels of Chatham, Pittsboro.
Mrs. McNair was born in Forsyth County on July 20, 1932, the daughter of Lee McKinley and Leona (Rupard) Rash. She was a retired bookkeeper for SH Basnight & Sons Hardware. Rachel enjoyed quilting, baking sourdough bread, caring for her cats and taking long walks with her friend, Edith Lindley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas B. McNair; her parents; brothers, James H. Rash, Ralph W. Rash, Harold G. Rash; sisters, Alma M. Rash and Flora D. Hemric.
She is survived by one daughter: Kimberly Webster and husband Stephen T. Webster of Siler City, NC; sister: Ruth R. Lindsay of Hickory, NC and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 3, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Chatham Memorial Park, 13260 Hwy 64 West, Siler City with Daniel Farris officiating.

DOROTHY MAE LONG
FAYETTEVILLE — Dorothy Mae Long, 73, of Bronx, N.Y., formerly of Fayetteville, died Thursday (6/26/14) in New York.
She is survived by sons, Jermine Jones and Otis Jones; daughters, Chatina Lewis and Carena Jones; and six grandchildren.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Willis Creek A.M.E. Zion Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday at Cunningham & Son’s Mortuary in Fayetteville.

MARY NIXON BAKER THOMPSON
SANFORD — Funeral service for Mary Nixon Baker Thompson, 87, of Sanford, who died Sunday (6/29/14), was held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Grace Chapel Church with the Rev. Bob Yandle and the Rev. Joel Murr officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery. Doves were released at the gravesite.
Pianist was Betty Sue McNeill and soloist was Donald Perrell.
Active pallbearers were Jerry Thompson, John Thompson, Charles Riddle, Joey Faulk, James Baker, Terry Nixon, Rodney Marsh and Eddie Thomas. Honorary pallbearers were Carolyn Marsh, Ruby Belsma, Frances Baker and Sherry Thomas.
Arrangements were by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.
WILBUR GARY FARLOW
MERRITT — Wilbur Gary Farlow died Friday (6/13/14) at the Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport.
He was born in Sanford to Golda and Roscoe Farlow. He graduated from Sanford Central High School and earned an Architectural degree from N.C State University. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany and Vietnam. After returning from Vietnam, he became an architect with the U.S. Navy Dept. in Norfolk, Va. After retiring from Navy Dept. he returned to North Carolina.
He is survived by his brother, Tom (Carolyn) Farlow of Denton, Texas, and a stepsister, Sherry (Bill) Daughty of Raleigh.
Inurnment will be held at Buffelo Cemetery at a later date.

HAYWOOD DAVID WELCH
CAMERON — Funeral service for Haywood David Welch, 77, of Cameron, who died Saturday (6/28/14), was held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. John Howard. Burial followed at Lee Memory Gardens.
During the service, recorded music was played and the eulogy was given by Jonathan Welch.
Pallbearers were Johnny Atkins, Kenny Atkins, Shane Blackman, Brandon Lamb and Don Maddox.
