VALLIE ANN MASON WEST

SPRING LAKE — Vallie Ann Mason West, 75, died Sunday (10/20/13) at her home.

A native of Harnett County, she was the daughter of the late Neill and Tabitha Porter Mason. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack C. West; two sisters and three brothers.

Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday at Gourd Spring Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home, and other times at her home.

She is survived by her sons, Michael West and wife Donna, and Mark West and wife Stella, all of Spring Lake, and Eric West of Durham; daughter, Judy W. Lynch and husband Clifford of Spring Lake; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Martha “Dolly” Mason of Mamers.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Lewis Covington, 57, who died Monday (10/14/13), was conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Ward Memorial Church with the Rev. James Elliott officiating.

Music was provided by Try Jesus Ministries.

Pallbearers were Harold Carnegie, Roshon Robles, Robert Robles, Montrel Lyons, Gary Barkley, Antrone Rice, Timothy Rice and Antonio Swann.

Arrangements were by Knotts Funeral Home.

SILER CITY — Kathleen Brower, 98, died Saturday (10/19/13) at Genesis Health Care in Siler City. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Knotts & Son Funeral Home in Siler City.

DUNN — Judith A. Nixon, 77, of Hwy. 701 South, Four Oaks, died Tuesday (10/15/13) at Johnston Health in Smithfield.

Funeral Mass was conducted at 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Anns Catholic Church in Clayton.

She is survived by sons, Wayne of Perrineville, N.J., Winston of Fayetteville and Isacque (Shona) of Conyers, Ga.; daughters, Mia (Eric) and Nicole, all of Greensboro, and Hazel Green of Alabama; brothers Edgar Jr. (Bobbie) of Garner, Willie (Mary) of Charlotte, and Anthony (Carolyn) of Selma; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Arrangements were by Dafford Funeral Home in Dunn.

SANFORD — Teresa McKoy Jenkins, 49, of 105 6th St., died Thursday (10/17/13) at Central Carolina Hospital.

Funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Works For Christ Christian Center. No wake will be held. Burial will follow at Minter Cemetery.

She is survived by one son, Gilbert Jones Jr. (Dominique); one daughter, Christina Ireen McKoy-Jones; her mother, Minnie Mae McKoy; one stepson, William McKoy; two stepdaughters, Meleka McKoy and Jennifer Wilson; two sisters, Adria McNeill (Eddie) and Sharon McKoy; two grandchildren; and other relatives.

Arrangements are by Knotts Funeral Home.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Kurtis Lett, 89, who died Thursday (10/17/13), was held at 2 p.m. Monday at Rogers Memorial Chapel with Pastor David Yarborough officiating. Burial followed at Moore Union Christian Church Cemetery.

Soloist was Greg Oldham and Woody Stone gave the eulogy.

Pallbearers were James Bureau, Elmer Hunter Jr., Terry Lett, Dan McGarrity, Troy Schall and Woody Stone.
