RUTH LAWRENCE CRAIG

SANFORD — Ruth Lawrence Craig, 88, of Sanford died Friday, November 1, 2013.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Cool Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Craig was born in Lee County, daughter of the late Alexander Marvin Lawrence and Mary Lilly Tyson Lawrence and was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Willison Craig Jr. Mrs. Craig was a lifelong member of Cool Springs Baptist Church and a member of the Lois Sutphin Sunday School Class. Ruth was preceded in death by her brothers, Alexander Lawrence, Clyde Lawrence, Hester Lawrence and Lynn Lawrence; and sisters Dorothy Rawson and Lessie Phillips. For many years Mrs. Craig was a child care provider and considered a mother to all of the kids she kept.

Mrs. Craig is survived by a daughter, Jean C. Jackson and husband Danny of Sanford; sons, RW “Bobby” Craig III of Sanford, Larry Craig and wife Jane of Sanford, and Eddie Craig and wife Billie Jean of Sanford; seven grandchildren, Adam Craig and wife Sarah, Britton Craig and wife Beverly, Karen Parker and husband John, Ashley Palermo and husband Corey, Scott Jackson, Brandon Craig and wife Megan, and Candace Smith and husband Jeffery; five great-grandchildren, Parker Craig, Drew Craig, Madelyn Craig, Morgan Craig, and Peyton Garner.

The family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church.

HAZEL MAY GOTSCHALL CLARK

SANFORD — Hazel May Gotschall Clark, 81, died Wednesday (10/30/13) at Central Carolina Hospital.

She was born in Baltimore, Md., on Nov. 5, 1931, to the late Glen and Margaret Gotschall. She was an elementary school teacher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her husband, Delmer G. Clark; sisters, Mary G. Dale and Frances Pistal; and brothers, Guy and Jack Gotschall.

She is survived by son, Richard Sherman Joy and wife Judy of Sanford; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Burial will follow at a later date in Maryland.

REX MARTIN WOODLIEF

SANFORD — Funeral service for Rex Martin Woodlief, who died Monday (10/28/13), was held at 2 p.m. Friday at Center United Methodist Church by the Rev. Chris Humphreys and the Rev. Bill Mitchell. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

During the service the congregation sang. The organist was Melody White Humphreys.

Pallbearers were Gary Cox, Mike Cranford, David Dycus, John Dycus, Tommy Lucas and Mack Wicker.
