JAMES ARCHIE CAMPBELL

SANFORD — Mr. James Archie Campbell, age 71, of Sanford, N.C. died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at his home.

Mr. Campbell was born on Nov. 11, 1941, in Harnett County, N.C. to the late Rayford James Campbell and Excelle Barber Campbell. He was a member and Deacon of Hillview Christian Assembly. Mr. Campbell was a Decorated Veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam where he was awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Payne Campbell; three daughters, Susan Renee Teague and husband John of Granite Falls, N.C., Lisa Campbell Baker of Sanford, N.C., Michelle Campbell Viverette and husband Michael of Raleigh; two brothers, Reid Perry Campbell of Olivia and Richard Eugene Campbell of Sanford, N.C.; a sister, Muriel Hall of Sanford, N.C., and four grandchildren, Christine and Hanna Teague, A.J. Baker, and Cayden Viverette.

The family will receive friends Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Hillview Christian Assembly. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the church with Rev. Ray Bodin and Rev. Lynn Epps officiating. Burial will follow at Lee Memory Gardens.

FAYDINE OPAL ELLIS TISDALE

SILER CITY — Faydine Opal Ellis Tisdale, 71, died Thursday (11/7/13).

She was born June 4, 1942, the daughter of John M. and Mary Edna Johnson Ellis. She was a native of Chatham County. She was a homemaker, a member of Hickory Mountain United Methodist Church, and was preceded in death by husband, Garland Tisdale; brothers, Willie Ellis, George Ellis, Buck Ellis and Gilbert Ellis; and sisters, Margaret Oakley and Etta Mae Mann.

She is survived by daughter, Linda Faye Moody; sons, Thomas Edward Foushee, Clarence "Peanut" Foushee and Kenneth Ray Foushee; sister, Annie Ring; and brothers, James Ellis, Grady Ellis and Bernice Ellis.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Smith & Buckner Funeral Home. The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hickory Mountain United Methodist Church in Pittsboro with the Rev. Mary Ellen Bender officiating.

SUE ANN WILLIAMS BONNER LOTTER

SANFORD — Memorial service for Sue Ann Williams Bonner Lotter, 66, who died Sunday (11/3/13), was held Friday at 10 a.m. at Barbecue Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Sandy Williams officiating. Comments were made by Vince Schimmoller and Kevin Montgomery.

Pianist was Joey Holmes. Organist was Dorothy Hales. Soloist was Deborah Womble. The congregation also sang.

The family received friends in the church fellowship hall following the memorial service.

SANFORD — Wilma Martin Nelson, 76, of 710 San Lee Drive, died Tuesday (11/5/13) at Sanford Health and Rehabilitation.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Nelson; her daughters, Rachel Hooker and Teresa Stokes, both of Sanford; her son, Chris Headen of Sanford; stepchildren, Ronald Nelson, Kimberly Nelson and Bernadette Chalmers (Tony); one sister, Lillie M. Mickie; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Odessa Alston, Sylvia Parker, Bernice Tita and Alphadella McRae; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Pine Ridge Baptist Church. Wake will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Knotts Funeral Home.

MONCURE — Ray Thomas Smith, formerly of Prosperity, S.C., died Wednesday (11/6/13).

He was born in Lee County to Joe Thomas Smith and Irene B. Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Brenda S. Tillman. He was a graduate of Sanford Central High School and retired from Norfolk-Southern Railroad.

He is survived by his wife, Linda S. Smith; two sons, Ray D. Smith of Fort Lee, Va., and Sean T. Smith of Prosperity, S.C.; and four grandchildren.

CARTHAGE — Fred Martin Jr., 80, died Thursday (11/7/13) at his home.

He is survived by his wife, Apostle Thelma Martin; five daughters; two sons; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Hattie Gillespie; and one brother, Woodrow Martin.
