ANNIE COLE KELLY

MONETA, Va. — Annie "Anne" Cole Kelly, 84, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2013 at her home in Moneta, Va., surrounded by family.

Anne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William "Bill" Kelly and her parents, Neill and Virginia King Cole of Sanford.

She worked for General Electric in Salem, Va. for 33 years before retiring and moving to Smith Mountain Lake.

Anne actively participated in her husband's WWII Navy LST Association activities, and enjoyed traveling often with him to association events. She also participated in a senior bowling league in Roanoke, Va. and in more recent years enjoyed playing bingo with friends. Above all else, Anne was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Survivors include her daughters, Virginia Baker and husband Lewis of Gaithersburg, Md., and Wanda Dougherty and husband Leo of Alexandria, Va; grandchildren, Scott Baker, Shannon Geisbert and husband Adam, Neil Dougherty and wife Melissa, and Caitlin Dougherty; sisters, Nora Shell of Burlington, NC, and Sara Brown and husband Bobby of New Bern, NC.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will follow at Buffalo Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Sanford. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

KENNETH WAYNE SIMMONS (PIC)

BENNETT — Kenneth Wayne Simmons, 56, formerly of Clipwood Road, Bennett, died Thursday (11/7/2013) at Randolph Health and Rehabilitation in Asheboro.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, at Pleasant Grove Christian Church, where he was a member, with Jimmy Hill officiating.

Simmons was a native of Chatham County, and was the son of Reid J. and Flossie Mae Cox Simmons.

He was a self-employed farmer.

Simmons is survived by daughter, Jill Simmons of Bennett, and son Jeff Simmons of Bennett; Sisters, Rama Maness and husband Bobby, Linda Allred, Sharon Simmons all of Bennett, Betty Asbill and husband Boyce of Asheboro; and mother of his children, Sherry Simmons of Asheboro; two granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service, and at the other times at the home of his sister, Sharon Simmons in Bennett. Online condolence’s at www.joycebradychapel.com.

FRED MARTIN

CARTHAGE — Fred Martin Jr., 80, of Carthage died Thursday (11/7/2013) at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Carthage Elementary School Auditorium. A Viewing will be held from 1 -6 p.m. Sunday at Pugh & Smith Funeral Home, Carthage.

He is survived by wife, Apostle Thelma Martin, five daughters, two sons, 14 grandchildren 10 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, one sister and one brother.

Pugh & Smith Funeral Home Of Carthage is assisting the family.

 

GLYENDERLEEN GRIFFIN THOMAS

SANFORD — Graveside service for Glyenderleen “Gwen” Griffin Thomas, 91, who died Tuesday (11/5/2013), was conducted at 4 p.m. Friday, at Buffalo Cemetery with Pastor Kevin McHarg, the Rev. Robbie Gibson and the Rev. Misty Mowrey officiating.

Soloist was Gibson, who sang one selection of music.

Arrangements were by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

 

PATRICIA RUTH COLE BELLOMY

SANFORD — Funeral service for Patricia Ruth Cole Bellomy, 63, of Sanford, who died Tuesday (11/5/2013) was held at noon Saturday at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Don Flynn officiating. Burial followed at Broadway Town Cemetery.

Pianist was Pat Kelly and recorded music was played.

Pallbearers were D. J. Dunlap, Tyler Dunlap, Travis Cole, Michael White, Omer Bunn, Randal Rhyne.

Arrangements were by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.
