LILLINGTON — John Marshall Johnson, 87, died Friday (11/15/13) at UNC Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chesley and Arlie Wester Johnson, and a brother, Larry Johnson. He was a master carpenter and home builder. He served in the Army during W.W. II.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Janet Hood Johnson; three daughters, Janet Louise Johnson of Lillington, Mildred Hinkle and husband James of Pittsboro, and Dr. Katherine Johnson Coats and husband Kevin of Holly Springs; a son, John Marshall Johnson Jr. and wife Deborah of New Jersey; seven siblings, Florine Penny, Jessie Cannady, Aaron Johnson, Ramona Bethune, Edith Mangum, Doris Peebles and Nathan Johnson; and one grandson.
Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Neill’s Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Harnett Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home and other times at the home.

SANFORD — Graveside service for Wesley Bryant Parrish Sr., 89, who died Thursday (11/14/13), was held Friday at 11 a.m. at Shallow Well Cemetery with Chaplain Joel Cameron officiating.
The family received friends at the cemetery following the graveside service.

SANFORD — Mary Elizabeth Blackmon Stone, 72, of 546 Blacks Road, died Monday (11/11/13) at Central Carolina Hospital.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lee Memory Gardens.
She was the daughter of the late Edward and Stella Ammons Blackmon. She was also preceded in death by her son, Fetcher Eugene Marshburn.
She is survived by the father of her son, Chester Wayne Estes; son, Raymond Lee Estes and wife Carol Hicks Estes; brothers, Jimmy Blackmon and wife Bonnie; Bobby Blackmon and wife Shelia, Johnny Blackmon and wife Victoria, and Kenneth Blackmon; sisters, Evelyn Blackmon Oldham, Jessie Mae Jamerson and Beulah Stone; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

MATTHEW JOEL WEST
SANFORD — Matthew Joel “Red” West, 25, died Tuesday (11/12/13).
He was born in Lee County on May 6, 1988, son of Robert William West Jr. and Judy Ann Sheffield West. He was a graduate of Lee County High School, class of 2006 where he played on the soccer team and was named MVP. He attended Central Carolina Community College and was very creative and artistic.
Funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Broadway with the Rev. Christy Dew officiating. Burial will follow at the Broadway Town Cemetery.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Judy West of Sanford; daughter, Aubree J'Ann West; sister, Jessica LeAnn West of Salemburg; aunt, uncle and cousins.

MAMERS — Funeral service for Doralene Brown Knight, 76, who died Monday (11/11/13), was conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Patrick Broaddus and the Rev. David Anderson officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.
During the service, Graham Matthews was the pianist. Fred and Carolyn Sykes sang.
Pallbearers were members of the Boone Trail Fire Department and Emergency Services.

VASS — Ronald Marsh Lineberry, 65, died Thursday (11/14/13) at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Pineywood Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Charles Lassiter. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
A native of Moore County, he was a son of Gladys Marsh Lineberry and the late Davis Howard Lineberry. He was preceded in death by a brother, Perry Lineberry.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Laura Linberry Wiggins of Heflin, La.; and brothers, Mike Lineberry and wife Darlene of Cameron and Terry Lineberry and wife Mary of Sanford.

SANFORD — Mary Ruth Comer Deese of Trenton, Mich., formerly of Sanford, died Wednesday (11/13/13).
She was born on July 9, 1937, in Cameron, to the late Luther Frank Comer and Florence Minnie Bailey Comer. She was a retired elementary school teacher of second grade for over 30 years.
She is survived by her husband, Phillip M. Deese of Trenton, Mich.; two sons, Phillip Deese and wife Laura of Trenton, Mich., and Kenneth Deese and wife Sara of Jacksonville, Fla.; brother, Carl Comer and wife Peggy of Concord; sisters, Peggy Jordan of Burlington, Anne Lambert and husband Tub of Climax, Jean Marsh and husband Dwight of Sanford and Judy Loving and husband Tommy of Cameron; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

CAMERON — Ruth Evelyn Lane Boyer, 85, died Friday (11/15/13) at FirstHealth Hospice House of Pinehurst.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Charles Lassiter officiating. Burial will follow at Pineywood Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
She was born in Selma on Aug. 29, 1928, to James Andrew and Maude Campbell Lane. She worked as a nurse's assistant most of her life and was a member of Pineywood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Andrew and Maude Campbell Lane; her husband, Rick Boyer; one daughter, Betty Ruth Medlin; three sisters, Virgie, Louise and Frances; and three brothers, George, James and Jennings.
She is survived by three children, Sam Medlin and wife Patricia of Southern Pines, Kathy Suggs and husband Frank of Vass, and Jan Picerno and husband Nick of West End; one sister, Doris Maddox of Sanford; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
