MARY RUTH COMER DEESE

SANFORD — Funeral service for Mary Ruth Comer Deese, 76, of Trenton, Mich., formerly of Sanford, who died Wednesday (11/13/13), was held Monday at 11 a.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Wood and the Rev. Gilbert McDowell officiating. Remarks were by her son, Kenneth Deese, and great-granddaughter, Zoe Deese. Burial followed at Lee Memory Gardens.

Two selections were sung by Jeffrey and Rebecca Craft with Jeffrey Craft playing the guitar.

Arrangements were by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

SANFORD — Barbara Jean Gear, 62, of 108D Weatherstone Drive, Chapel Hill, died Sunday (11/17/13) at her residence. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Knotts Funeral Home.

ROBERT CRISSMAN

CARTHAGE — Robert "Gus" Crissman , 79, died Sunday (11/17/13) at First Health Moore Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Cool Springs Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. William Cashion. Burial will follow at Union Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home.

A native of Moore County, he was the son of the late Aaron Frank Crissman and Flora Phillips Crissman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during the Korean War. He previously had worked for Glendon Talc Mine, N.C. Prison Department and most recently was the owner and operator of Crissman Septic Tank, Inc. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Barber Crissman; a daughter, Linda Diane Crissman; a sister, Mary Alice "Lindy" Preslar; and a brother, Garland Crissman.

He is survived by his son, Robert W Crissman of Sophia; two nieces; two nephews and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Cool Springs United Methodist Church, 2027 Cool Springs Road, Carthage, N.C. 28327 or to donor's favorite charity.

GERALD LEGRAND JAMERSON

SANFORD — Funeral service for Gerald LeGrand Jamerson, 48, who died Wednesday (11/13/13), was held at 6 p.m. Saturday at Rogers Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Curtis Norris and the Rev. Andrew Sharum. A private burial will be held at a later date.

During the service, pianist was Ronnie Parker and soloist were Jennifer Rouse and Ronnie Parker.

SANFORD — Memorial service for Caroljean Harriet Blix Viertel, 71, who died Wednesday (11/13/13), was held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Cool Springs Baptist Church by the Rev. Matt Martin.

During the service the grandchildren sang, soloist was son-in-law Chad Delaney, and the congregation sang. Pianist was Myra Cole. Daughters Jennifer and Jacqueline delivered eulogies as well as other members of the congregation.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Brandon Wendall Jenkins, 33, who died Saturday (11/9/13), was held Saturday at 4 p.m. at Grace Chapel Church with the Rev. Joel Murr officiating. A eulogy was given by his father, ISG (Ret.) David William Jenkins. Military served as pallbearers and rendered military rites at the end of the funeral service.

Recorded music was played. Soloist was Tammy Strickland.

SILER CITY — Robert Frazier, 80, died Sunday (11/17/13) at Randolph Hospice Home in Asheboro.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gees Grove AME Zion Church in Siler City. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

He is survived by his two sons, Keith Frazier (Monique) and Tyler Frazier (Amy); daughter, Virginia Jones; four brothers, Willie Frazier, Buddy Frazier (Faye), Roy Earl Frazier (Karen), all of Siler City, and Roy Lee of Raleigh; four sisters, Nannie Mae Alston of New York, Martha Brower (James), Ola McClenon and Ella Horton, all of Siler City; 17 gsrandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Matthew Joel “Red” West, 25, who died Tuesday (11/12/13), was conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Christy Dew officiating. Burial followed at the Broadway Town Cemetery.

During the service, taped music was played.

Pallbearers were Trey Cox, Terry Gunter, Andrew Thompson, Mike Kowolski, Michael Crowder, Ryan Edmonds, Jordan Patterson and Jeremy Clark.
