JAMES HALFORD ALLEN

CAMERON — Mr. James Halford Allen, age 71, of Cameron, NC, died Monday, November 18, 2013 at his home.

He was born in Harnett County on May 13, 1942 to the late James Harvey Allen and Maggie Kelly Allen. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Sidney Allen and one sister, Mary Ann Allen. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School. Mr. Allen served our country in the United States Air Force and was a member of Cameron Baptist Church. He served the church as deacon, Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, and various other committees of the church. Mr. Allen worked for Morganite's in Dunn and Allen's Auto in Sanford. He retired in 2008 from Central Carolina Community College as an automotive instructor.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ellen Babb Allen; two daughters, Melanie Allen Thomas of Cameron and Anna Allen Frahm and husband Chris of Carthage; brother, Fred Allen and wife Faye of Sanford; and two grandchildren, James Christopher Thomas and Ava Elizabeth Frahm.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 20, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home and the funeral will be held Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Cameron Baptist Church with Dr. Wayne Greene and Dr. Greg Poplin officiating. Burial will follow at Crains Creek Cemetery.

M. LARRY COBLE

FISHKILL, N.Y. — M. Larry Coble of Fishkill passed away peacefully on November 17, 2013  at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 63.

He was born on July 22, 1950 in Charlotte, North Carolina to Ernest Franklin Coble Jr.  and the late Janice Rouse Coble.

Larry grew up in Pompano Beach, Florida and Danville, California and lived in  Sanford, NC prior to Fishkill.

He enjoyed the great outdoors including hunting, fishing, gardening and of course golf. Larry was also a licensed pilot and enjoyed playing billiards.

He was a Mechanical Construction Engineer/Planner for Black Diamond Consulting at Indian Point Energy Center, Buchanan, NY.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Diane Gil of the home; loving children, Michael Glines and his wife Mary, Brett Coble and his wife Kristen, Casey Johnson, Win Nichols, Tyler Nichols and Ben Coble; his dear father, Ernest (ERK) Coble; loving brother, Glenn Coble and his wife Vickie; loving sister, Kelly Fallon and her husband Mike; seven cherished grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

Friends may call on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 from 6-8:30 p.m. at Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 1028 Main Street, Fishkill.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday evening at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Flat Springs Baptist Church, 4148 Deep River, Sanford, NC on Saturday, November 23 at 2 p.m. Guests will be received immediately after service in the fellowship hall.

Interment will be private in North Carolina.

SOUTHERN PINES — Ruth Clyde Ferguson, 90, of Southern Pines passed away on November 18, 2013 at Penick Village.

She was born on January 31, 1923 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Albert R. and Mary Clyde.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one daughter, Janet F. Weber.

Ruth had a love for singing and reading. She spent her life joyfully serving the Lord and her family. Ruth loved her family deeply and will be missed by them all.

She is survived by one son, T. Rex Ferguson and his wife Laurie S. of Hickory; two daughters, Lynne F. Bost and her husband Larry of Greensboro and Ruth Ann F. Borrell and her husband Jim of Southern Pines; son-in-law, Robert F. Weber; two sisters, Elizabeth C. Shilliday and Edith C. Martin; grandchildren, Susan W. Keller (Carter), Rob Weber, Rev. Michael S. Bost (Michelle), Kelly B. Kaze (Chris), Rev. Thomas P. Bost (Sarah Jane), Emily Fisher (Jeff), Michael Ferguson (Jessica), James Ferguson (Brook), Derek Borrell (Erin), Danny Borrell (Martha), Megan Walsh (Jim); also survived by 19 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 22 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Southern Pines United Methodist Church, 175 Midland Road, Southern Pines. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the church. Interment to follow at Buffalo Cemetery.

JAMES PETER LACH

SOUTHERN PINES — James Peter Lach, 98, formerly of Chicago, died Saturday (11/16/13) at Tara Plantation in Carthage.

He was born in Chicago, Ill., on July 26, 1915, to Florian and Justyna Moslonka Lach. He served in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II. He was retired from General Motors Corporation and was a member of American Legion Post 1112, Illinois Police Association  and Voiture.

He is survived by daughter, Judith Schanilec and husband William of Southern Pines; sister, Elizabeth Ostrowski and husband Matthew of Las Vegas, Nev.; two grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six siblings including sisters, Anne Lach and Mae Reichenbach; and brother, Edward Lach.

Services will be held in Chicago at a later date.

CHARLIE WILLIAM ELLIOTT JR.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Charlie William Elliott Jr., 83, who died Friday (11/15/13), was held Monday at 3 p.m. at the Church of God of Prophecy on Plank Road with Pastor Vernon Riggins and Mike Russell, Minister of Music, officiating. Charlie Bryant read the obituary and gave a eulogy. Burial followed at Center United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Recorded music was played.

Pallbearers were Sammy Johnson, Matthew Davis, Tracy Carter, Stacy Dix, Darrell Elliott and Bill Elliott.

WILMA JUDD THOMAS

BROADWAY — Wilma Judd Thomas, 82, of 605 Vernon St., died Saturday (11/16/13) at Central Carolina Hospital.

She is survived by her children, Ronald Riggs (Janet), Linda Murchison and Iris Thomas; stepson, Barry Douglas (Lanthia) of Bowie, Md.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cameron Grove AME Zion Church in Broadway. Wake will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service.

JESSE ELDRIDGE BLAKE

WILMINGTON — Jesse Eldridge Blake, 72, died Sunday (10/13/13).

He was the son of the late George W. Blake and Mary Finncannon Blake of Sanford. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Blake of Wilmington; five sons, Jeff Blake of Rocky Point, Bradley Blake (native of Lee County), Jesse Eldridge Blake Jr., John Earl Blake and Joseph Edward Blake, all of Wilmington; one sister, Minnie Belle Blake Scott of Lemon Springs; and two grandchildren.

Memorial service will be held at Sanford Community Church at 1 p.m. Saturday by Pastor Ruth Holder and Pastor Hilda Rosser. Burial will be at the Blake Cemetery in Biscoe after the services.

CHERYL SUE WILSON DELGIUDICE

BROADWAY — Cheryl Sue “Susie” Wilson Delgiudice, 47, died Monday (11/18/13) at her home.

She was born in Lee County on July 11, 1966, daughter of Larry Sheard Wilson and the late Florence Alberta Sloan Wilson. She was preceded in death by her mother; grandmother, Mary Dowd; and her daughter, Jessica Renee Wilson.

Funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Broadway with the Rev. Garland Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the Sloan Cemetery in Broadway.

She is survived by her father, Larry Wilson of Broadway; sons, Filimon “Phillip” Torres, Antonio “Tony” Torres and Jeffery Sloan, all of Broadway; sisters, Patricia Dowd of Broadway and Belinda Merritt of Sanford; and one grandson.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.

SANFORD — Anna G. Lewandowski, 99, died Saturday (11/16/13).

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Stephen Catholic Church. Burial will follow at a later date at Meadowlawn Memorial Gardens in New Port Richie, Fla.

She was born in New York City, a daughter of the late Athanasy Guzek and Dora Zelem Guzek. She was preceded in death by her husband, Zenon “Zane” Joseph Lewandowski.

She is survived by a daughter, Dolores L. Danuck and husband William of Broadway; a son, Robert Lewandowski and wife Pat of Sanford; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will begin receiving friends at 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
