WALTER WADE HARRINGTON
SANFORD — Walter Wade Harrington, 69, of Sanford, passed away on Friday (12/14/12) at Central Carolina Hospital.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday (12/16/12) at 3 p.m. at Central Baptist Temple with Pastor Mike Oldham officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. at the church and other times at the home. Burial will follow at Center United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Wade was born in Sanford on Sept. 10, 1943, to Ralph and Nellie Watson Harrington. He was retired from Fort Bragg as a heating and air technician and was an active member of Central Baptist Temple.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Rebecca “Becky” Harrington; three sons, Lee Harrington and wife Wendy, Bob Place and wife Sandy, Billy Place and wife Kathy, all of Sanford; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Nellie Watson Harrington; and three sisters, Nancy, Jessie and Jean.

WILLIAM WARREN HALLOWELL
SANFORD — William Warren Hallowell, 67 of Sanford, died on Thursday (12/13/12) at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford.
William was born on October 28, 1945, in Philadelphia to the late Samuel Allen Hallowell and Catherine Lafferty Hallowell. He was a veteran of his country and served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. He retired from the Air Force after 24 years of service. After his military career he then retired after 15 years of service from the North Carolina Forest Service as a public education instructor.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Christel Hallowell of Sanford; four daughters: Manuela Nickerson of Goldsboro, Christel VanHorn of Mt. Olive, Andrea Denning of Goldsboro and Tammy Hallowell of Sanford; five sisters: Catherine Wallace of Pennsylvania, Betty Kell of New Jersey, Marion McGoldrick of Pennsylvania, Caroline Duckenfield of South Carolina and Dottie Gallagher of New Jersey; three brothers: George Hallowell of Pennsylvania, Bob Hallowell of New Jersey and Ray Hallowell of New Jersey; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers.
A full honors military graveside service will be held on Wednesday (12/19/12) at 10 a.m. at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.
The family will receive friends Tuesday (12/18/12) from 6-8 p.m. Miller-Boles Funeral Home in Sanford.

RUTH BEAL JOHNSON
SARASOTA, Fla. — Ruth Beal Johnson, 93, of Sarasota, Fla., died Monday (12/10/12). She was born in Pittsboro and came to live in Sarasota, FL with her daughter and grandson in 1982. She was a homemaker and married to Ezra H. Johnson before his death in 1981.
She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Gulf, N.C., where she grew up. She was the daughter of the late Sallie Margaret and Robert Henry Beal, and the eldest sister to the late Ruby Beal Poe, Gertrude Beal Hall and Devereux Beal.
She is survived by her daughter, Kaye Johnson Matthews; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; one sister, Rachel Beal Mansfield and husband, Julian; one nephew and three nieces.
A Celebration of Life memorial service was held at First Brethren Church, 150 Shade Ave., Sarasota, Fla. on Saturday (12/15/12) at 12 p.m. with Pastor David Stone officiating. A private burial will be held at the Big Meadows Primitive Baptist Church in Pittsboro on Tuesday (12/18/12).

CARL RAY ELKINS
BROADWAY — Carl Ray Elkins, 82, of Broadway, died Friday (12/14/12) at his home. He was born May 8, 1930 in Chatham County, son of the late Noah Lee Elkins and Martha Anne Fields Elkins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his siblings, Jessie Elkins, Newby Elkins, Leroy Elkins, Talmadge Elkins, Johnnie Elkins, Fred Elkins, Myrtie Elkins Branson and Annabelle Elkins Hudson.
He was a member of the Juniper Springs Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was retired from Allied Fibers.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday (12/18/12) at the Juniper Springs Baptist Church with Rev. John Hackney officiating. Burial will follow in the Broadway Town Cemetery.
Surviving him are his wife Akron B. Elkins; daughters Patsy Rogers and husband Paul, and Debra Morrison and husband Danny, all of Sanford; son David Elkins and wife Debbie of Sanford; brother Worth Elkins of Pittsboro; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Tuesday before the funeral service at the Juniper Baptist Springs Church and other times at the home of Patsy and Paul Rogers, 193 Peppermill Road, Sanford.
