JAMES ELMER RIGGSBEE

TRAPHILL — James Elmer Riggsbee,  loving husband, father and grandfather,  of Traphill, N.C., passed away, Friday, June 6, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. Riggsbee was born in Vass, N.C. to the late James Bradley Riggsbee and Georgia Marks Riggsbee. Mr. Riggsbee was an avid outdoors man; deer hunting, fishing and very active in racing, also building race cars. He was a chicken farmer for well over 22 years for Holly Farms and Tyson, and a cattle farmer and always willing to help his fellow farmer and neighbor. He was former President of Benham Ruritan Club and current member.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Hasty Riggsbee, and three sisters, Mary Riggsbee Cohen, Sandra Riggsbee Johnson and Grace Riggsbee Trudo.

He is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Nancy Baldwin Riggsbee of the home; daughters, Vickie Riggsbee Combs and husband Ricky, and Kathy Riggsbee Bare; brother, George Rosser Riggsbee and wife Lola, two sisters, Annie Riggsbee Page and Lois Riggsbee Bradley; grandchildren, Rebecca Victoria Kilpatrick and husband Scott, Amanda Kay Combs, Matthew James Combs and wife Karrie, Victoria Renee Combs, David James Bare and Joshua Bradley Bare; great-grandchildren, Tyler Combs, Owen Combs, Breagha Kilpatrick, Korbyn Wood, Addie Combs and Rachael Combs.

Funeral service was held Monday at 7 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Elkin by the Rev. Travis Brown. The family received friends prior to the funeral from 5-7 p.m.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Mount Pleasant Christian Church in Vass, N.C., with the assistance of Cox Memorial Funeral Home in Vass, N.C.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, VA 23060-9979.

SADIE YARBOROUGH RYALS

SANFORD — Memorial service for Sadie Yarborough Ryals, 73, of Sanford, who died Thursday (6/5/14), was conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Juniper Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. John Hackney officiating. Inurnment followed at the church cemetery.

During the service, Marty McNeill was soloist, Cindy Buchanan was organist and the eulogy was given by Chris Headen.

Arrangements were by Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.

BEATRICE WILSON BREWER

BEAR CREEK — Beatrice Wilson Brewer, 88, of 9245 Highway 42, Bear Creek, died Saturday (6/7/14) at her home.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Fall Creek Baptist Church in Bennett with the Rev. Scott Allmon and the Rev. Joe Drum officiating. She was a member of Fall Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Etta Wilson; sisters, Myrtle Cromer, Ruth Wilson, Katie Mae Oldham and Betty Wilson; and brothers, Hank and Daniel Wilson.

She is survived by her husband, Pete Brewer; daughters, Carol Lee Phillips and husband Herman Ray, and Patsy S. Bray and husband Gregory, all of Bennett; sons, Sammy Brewer and wife Cathy of Bear Creek, and Alan Brewer and wife Beckie of Bennett; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

EDITH CULBERSON SIMPSON

GREENSBORO — Edith Culberson Simpson, 84, died Monday (6/2/14) at Wesley Long Community Hospital.

Funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Hinshaw United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Donna Smith officiating. Interment will follow Westminster Gardens.

She was born on July 7, 1929 in Chatham County, a daughter of the late Erie and Ruby Siler Culberson. She a member of Hinshaw United Methodist Church. She worked at Sears Mail Order plant and retired from Jefferson Pilot Insurance Company in 1994. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Binford Simpson, and her oldest brother, Calvin Culberson.

She is survived by a son, Jim H. Simpson Jr. and wife Sherrie of Greensboro; two brothers, Frank Culberson of Dallas, Texas, and Hal Culberson of Laurinburg; two sisters, Jean McNeese of Siler City and Becky Oldham of Bear Creek; and three grandchildren.

ERNEST PAUL OLDHAM JR.

SANFORD — Ernest Paul Oldham Jr., 73, of Sanford, died Saturday (6/7/14) at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rogers Memorial Chapel.

He was a lifelong resident of Lee County. He was the son of the late Ernest Paul Oldham Sr. and Stella Gaines Oldham. He was preceded in death by brothers, Wilton Gaines Oldham and Harold Reid Oldham.

He is survived by his daughter, Leslie Oldham Nagy (John); two grandchildren; sister, Michelle Oldham (Mitzi) Sloan; and several nieces and nephews.

GUS NICK KEHAGIAS

SANFORD — Gus Nick Kehagias, 49, of Sanford, died Sunday (6/1/14).

Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Cross Creek Cemetery in Fayetteville.

He was born in Detroit, Mich., and preceded in death by his father, Nikolas Kehagias.

He is survived by his mother, Panorea Ringas Kehagias; a brother, Dan Kehagias and wife Karen of Sanford; two nephews and a niece.

THOMAS WAYNE CLARK

SNOW CAMP — Thomas Wayne Clark, 76, of Snow Camp, formerly of Sanford, died Saturday (6/7/14) at Alamance Health Care Center in Burlington.

He was born in Lee County, son of the late Thomas Clark and Louise Spivey McNeill Clark. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Clark. He was an Army veteran.

He is survived by his daughter, Carrie Clark of Snow Camp; and sisters, Barbara King of Moncure, and Judy Page and Reba Davis, both of Broadway.

A private service will be held at a later date.
