JANICE BROOKS WHITE HARRIS
SANFORD — Janice Brooks White Harris, 80, of Sanford, passed away Monday (8/12/13) at Duke University Medical Center.
A Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 17, at East Sanford Baptist Church.
Mrs. Harris was born in Lee County, daughter of the late Harvey Hay White and Lillian Brooks Smith White. She was an active member of East Sanford Baptist Church and served on various committees. She also served as a Sunday School Teacher and Youth Chaperone. She worked 30 plus years in Customer Service with Heins Telephone, volunteered with the Bread Basket and also with the Bread of Life ministries. She loved her family and looked forward to their annual family vacations to the beach.
Mrs. Harris is survived by her six children, Sharon Harris Bridges, Kim Harris Neal and husband Andy, William Davis Harris Jr. and wife Kim, Jan Harris Cameron and husband Tommy, Harriet Harris Norris and husband Edwin, and Lea Harris Lanier and husband Randy, all of Sanford; grandchildren, Meghan Bridges Chewning and husband Steven, Whitman Bridges, Drew Neal and wife Becky, Meredith Neal Sercy and husband Derrick, Trent Harris, Trevor Harris, Brittany Cameron Brinson and husband LJ, Shaw Cameron, Kelli Ann Norris, Jennifer Norris, Carson Lanier, Shane Lanier, Emily Lanier, and Harris Lanier; great-grandchildren, Nathan Neal, Eli Neal, Max-Andrew Sercy, Tenley Sercy and Cameron Brinson; one sister, Aileen Jones and husband Lynn of Sanford; a special cousin, Barbara Burns Truelove of Sanford, several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 17, in the Fellowship Hall at East Sanford Baptist Church and other times at 6001 Mockingbird Lane, Sanford.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Building Fund at East Sanford Baptist Church, 300 North Avenue, Sanford, N.C. 27330.

THOMAS JOSEPH DOYLE
PITTSBORO — Thomas Joseph “Tom” Doyle, 87, died Thursday (6/27/13) in The Arbor at Galloway Ridge.
He was born in New York City on Dec. 21, 1925, the son of Joseph and May Egan Doyle. He served in the U.S. Navy in both W.W. II and Korea. He received a business degree from Long Island University and an engineering degree from New York University. He worked as a diesel/industrial engineer before establishing his own firm with his brother. Following retirement, he and his wife moved to Fearrington Village, where they became active in both the community and also at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James; and four siblings-in-law, Martin, Mary Rigney, Daniel and Helen Little.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Terrie Connolly Doyle; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, from St. Thomas More Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Scott E. McCue, VF, presiding. Enurnment in the church columbarium will follow. Following the service, friends may visit at a reception in the church family life center.
Memorials may be given to St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 940 Carmichael St., Chapel Hill, N.C. 27514 for engraved brick pavers in his memory.

PITTSBORO — Melvin Azelle Williams, 57, of 145 Firetower Road, died Saturday (8/10/13) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Annette Green Williams; one son, Azelle Tywon Williams (Ashley) of Pittsboro; one daughter, Kenyatta Shantel Williams of Greensboro; one grandaughter; four brothers, Sgt. Curtis Morrison of Fayetteville, Freeman Eddie Williams (Mary) of Badin, Wilbert Lee Williams (Sharon) of Sanford and Alfonza Calvin Williams of Pittsboro; one sister, Candy Moffitt of Raleigh; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Andrews Congregational Christian Church in Pittsboro. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Wake will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Knotts Funeral Home in Pittsboro.

VIVIAN BAILEY BLUE
CARTHAGE — Vivian “Pankey” Bailey Blue, 71, died Sunday (8/11/13) at her home.
Funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Culdee Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. Joseph Washburn. Burial was at the church cemetery.
A native of Greene County, she was a daughter of late Willie “Earl” and Carolee (Croom) Bailey. After graduating from Sanford Business College, she went to work for Robert M. Page Jr. Attorney at Law as a legal secretary. Later she worked seasonally at Farmers Tobacco Warehouse and also part time with the Moore County Board of Elections.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 53 years, Richard Blue; sons, Ronnie Blue and wife Shelia of West End and Richard Blue Jr. and wife Chris of Summerfield; sister, Sondra B. Smith of Marshton; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and her aunt.

VASS — Robert Attaway Edwards, 82, of Lakeview and Titusville, Fla., died Monday (8/12/13) at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Windish officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Johnson Grove Cemetery in Vass.
He was born in Saluda, S.C., on May 7, 1931, to Jackson and Mary Attaway Edwards. He was the Manager of Finance of America for 22 years. He was an Elks Club Member of Lodge #2113 and served with Shoes for the Needy charity.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Catherine Blue Edwards; two godchildren, Chris Marion and wife Tonya of Lakeview, and Elise McInnis and husband Tracey of Southern Pines; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jackson and Mary Attaway Edwards; one godchild, Hilton Marion; two sisters, Marguerite Butler and Maggie L. Edwards; and two brothers, Jack and William Edwards.

LILLINGTON — Myrtle K. Coleman, 92, died Tuesday (8/13/13) at Universal Health Care in Lillington.
A native of Harnett County, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd T. and Rosella McLeod Kennedy. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James C. Coleman; daughter, Donnie Coleman Butler; brother, Robert P. Kennedy; and sister, Mary Walston.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at O’Quinn-Peebles Chapel with the Rev. Cecil McNeill officiating. Burial will follow at Westview Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Jimmy and Cindy Coleman.
She is survived by daughters, Lana C. Ahrens and husband Jay of Georgia, Brenda C. Johnson and husband Robert, and Delia C. Powell and husband Leon, all of Lillington; sons, Linwood Coleman and wife Dianne of Broadway, Larry Coleman and wife Dot, and Jimmy Coleman and wife Cindy, all of Lillington; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
