ROBERT ZEKE HILLIARD

SILER CITY — Robert Zeke Hilliard, 76, formerly of 190 Bruce Phillips Road died Wednesday (8/14/13) at Siler City Center.

Funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Hickory Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Darrell Garner officiating. Burial will follow at the Hilliard Family Cemetery.

He was a Chatham County native and was a retired farmer. He was the son of the late Robert “Bob” and Salli P. Hilliard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Harold Hilliard and Archie Hilliard.

He is survived by son, Randy Hilliard of Siler City; brother, Roy Hilliard of Siler City; sisters, Juanita Lucas and Lenora Lucas, both of Siler City, and Ezzie Smith and Geneva Beck, both of Bear Creek; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church from 1 to 2 p.m.

CHARLES LEVI CAVINESS

ROBBINS — Charles Levi Caviness, 72, of 1755 Wilson Road, died Tuesday (8/13/13) at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Memorial service will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at Joyce-Brady Chapel with the Rev. Terry Warren officiating.

He was a Moore County native and was a self- employed logger. He was the son of the late Wess and Madie B. Caviness. He was a member of Unity Grove Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Haithcox Caviness; daughter, Brenda Maness and husband Ricky of Seagrove; sister, Laverne Chriscoe and husband Vernon of Robbins; and two grandchildren.

The family asks in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Joyce-Brady Chapel, P.O. Box 89, Bennett, N.C. 27208 to help with funeral expenses.

MANDY LYNN CHAVIS

CAMERON — Mandy Lynn Chavis, 35, died Tuesday (8/13/13) at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Knapp officiating.

She was born in Sanford on June 19, 1978, to Conley Delane Chavis and Donna Taylor McKenzie. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Howard and Shirley Driggers.

She is survived by her mother, Donna Taylor McKenzie; father, Conley Delane Chavis; stepfather, Don McKenzie; and maternal grandparents, Bob and Carolyn Doberstein.

MELVIN AZELLE WILLIAMS

PITTSBORO — Funeral service for Melvin Azelle (Tater) Williams, 57, who died Saturday (8/10/13), was conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Andrews Congregational Church in Pittsboro with the Rev. Janer Beck and the Rev. Dr. Mary Jo Gilmore officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

Soloists were Clifton Snipes, Lori Sisco and John Williams.

Pallbearers were classmates of 1974 of Northwood High School and nephews.

FUQUAY-VARINA — Otho Chester Snipes, 86, died Thursday (8/15/13). Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home.


MARJORIE ELIZABETH ELLIOTT

VASS — Marjorie Elizabeth “Lizzie” Elliott, 90, of 219 Union Church Road, died Tuesday (8/13/13) at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be conducted at 12 noon Saturday at Allen Chapel AME Zion Church in Vass. Wake will be held from 11 a.m.  to 12 noon. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.

She is survived by daughters, Jean E. Tate (James) of Norwalk, Conn., Althea E. Bates (Alfonso) of Cleveland, Ohio, Joyce Harrison (Walter) of Upper Marlboro, Md.; son, A. Laverne Elliott of Temecula, Calif.; sisters, Evelyn McLean (James) of Cleveland, Ohio, and Dorothy Helms (Robert) of Greensboro; brother, Clarence Elliott of Tacoma, Wwash.; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
