VICTOR B. KILGORE
BROADWAY — Victor B. Kilgore, 81, of Broadway, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, Sept. 15.
Victor was born in Delta, Pa., the son of Clarence and Nellie Pierson Kilgore in 1932. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955 and thereafter worked as a carpenter at Aberdeen Proving Ground. He was a faithful and beloved Elder of Pine Grove Presbyterian Church for many years, an enthusiastic member of the Early American Steam Engine & Old Equipment Society, and a caretaker for Camp Donegal of Airville, Pa. Subsequent to his move to North Carolina in 2006, he was a faithful member and Elder of Broadway Presbyterian Church, as well as a volunteer for the Christian United Outreach Center.
Victor is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Jean; a sister, Harriet Garcia of Havre de Grace, Md.; a brother, Larry Kilgore of Airville, Pa.; three daughters, Cathy Griffith (Jeff) of Broadway, N.C., Bonnie Kilgore (Rick Kearney) of Gardners, Pa. and Patti Gerlach (Eric) of Langhorne, Pa.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Smith Funeral Home in Broadway, N.C. on Tuesday, Sept. 17 from 6 until 8 p.m.
The funeral will be at Pine Grove Presbyterian Church in Sunnyburn, Pa. on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 2 p.m. with visitation in the fellowship hall following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Christian United Outreach Center, P.O. Box 2217, Sanford, N.C. 27331.

JOHN HENRY PAYNE
SANFORD — Memorial service for John Henry Payne, 82, who died Saturday (9/14/13), was held Monday at 11 a.m. at Tramway Baptist Church with the Rev. John Allen officiating.
Recorded music was played and eulogy was given by a son, John Payne.
The family received friends at the church following the memorial service. Burial will follow at a later date.

RUBY CHARLENE WATSON WOODWARD
CAMERON — Ruby Charlene Watson Woodward, 42, died Saturday (9/14/13) at First Health Moore Regional Hospital of Pinehurst.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Pastor Eugene Ussery and Pastor Sherry Baird officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
She was born in Sanford on Dec. 4, 1970, to Clinton Edward and Shirley Ann Simmons Watson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Clinton Edward Watson Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Mark Woodward; one sister, Annette Sykes of Monroe; and five brothers, David Watson and Mike Watson, both of Sanford; Terry Watson and Jerry Watson, both of Carthage, and Edward Watson of Cameron.
A visitation will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church today from 6 to 8 p.m.

STALEY — Doris Ann Dark, 73, of 7142 Staley View Trail, died Saturday (9/14/13) at Clapps Nursing Center Inc. in Greensboro.
She was the daughter of William P. and Naoma B. Brown, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Monroe Brown and W.D. Brown, and two sisters, Mattie Godfrey and Ada Coble.
Funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Oliver’s Chapel AME Zion Church in Staley. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her husband, Harvey Dark; two sons, Harvey Dark Jr. of Staley and Kenny Dark (Melanie) of Liberty; one daughter, Lenny D. Edringston (Billy) of Greensboro; one sister, Wilma McCall of Springfield, Mass.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

MARGARET JEANETTE SPIVEY STONE
SANFORD — Margaret Jeanette Spivey Stone, 82, died Sunday (9/15/13) at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.
She was born on April 6, 1931, in Lee County, to the late William Isaac Spivey and Bessie Willis Wilkie Spivey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul William Stone; a son, Paul William Stone Jr.; three sisters, Shelby Jean Patterson, Irene Black and Sarah Mason; and two brothers, Melvin Spivey and Junior Spivey. She worked at Cornell Dubilier for 20 years before retiring.
She is survived by a son, Dennis Ray Stone and wife Norene of Cameron; five daughters, Carolyn Louise Gunter of Broadway, Linda Lou Stone of Charlotte, Janice Faye Eason and husband Donnie of Dunn, Norma Jean Spivey and husband Wayne of Cameron, and Teresa Paulette Davis and husband, the Rev. Robert Davis of Broadway; two sisters, Faye Lynn George of Colon and Mary Stone of Providence, R.I.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Benny Helms and Daryl Perry officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home, one hour prior to the funeral service. At other times, the family will be at 544 Longstreet Road in Sanford.
