SANFORD — Herbert Lee Johnson, 71, of 212 Circle Drive, Sanford, died Saturday (4/12/14) at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

He is survived by six daughters, Rosalind Dalrymple (Minister James), and Merenda Brown (Wilson), all of Sanford, Gwen King (Fred) of New Jersey, Tonya Daniel (Keith), and Kelly Alleyne, all of Boston, Mass., and Kim Johnson (Dewitt) of Greensboro; three sons, Marcell Johnson (Sharon) and Jeffrey McFayden (Robin), all of Greensboro, and Lee McFayden of Boston, Mass.; daughter-in-law, Latonya Jackson-Flowers of Albany, N.Y.; four brothers, Elder Terry Johnson (Cynthia) of New Jersey, Nathaniel Howard Johnson (Denise) of Greensboro, Louis Johnson of Oklahoma, and Harry Johnson of Sanford; sister-in-law, Brenda Johnson of Sanford; 28 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Works For Christ Christian Church.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Arlene Sis Jamerson Heath, 88, of Sanford, who died Monday (4/14/14), was held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Curtis Norris and the Rev. Bruce Parsons. Burial followed at Barbecue Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

During the service, the Rev. Norris was the soloist.

Pallbearers were Jeffrey Boyles, Dorman Coats, Hank Donithan, Johnathon Norris, Andrew Sharum and Coy Whitaker.

SANFORD — Rosa Lee Burgess Thomas, 87, of Sanford, died Thursday (4/17/14) at her home.

She was born in Johnston County on April 8, 1927, to the late Olan E. Burgess and Lola Honeycutt Burgess. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Tandy Thomas, and half-sister, Pauline Oldham.

She is survived by one son, John Thomas and wife Linda of Sanford; one daughter, Pam Poindexter and husband Phillip of Sanford; one sister, Geneva Smyth of Broadway; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Jonesboro United Methodist Church with the Rev. Hunter Preston presiding. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the funeral hour in the church parlor. Burial will follow at the Jonesboro Cemetery.

CAMERON — Eddie James Ryals Hardison, 4, of Cameron, died Thursday (4/17/14) at his home.

He was born in Lee County, son of Rodney Hardison Jr. and Jessica Ryals.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Poplar Springs United Methodist Church with the Rev. Daniel Gore officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

He is survived by his parents, Rodney Hardison Jr. and Jessica Ryals; sisters, Shania Ryals of Sanford, and Jasmine Ryals Hardison and Serenity Ryals Hardison, both of Cameron; brother, Rodney Hardison III of Cameron; maternal grandparents, Kay Looper and husband Dan, and Ronnie Ryals, all of Sanford; and maternal great-grandparents, Helen Ryals Maddox, and Lois and Halford Wilson, all of Sanford.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home in Broadway and other times at the family home, 20 Tracey Lane, Cameron, and also at the home of Helen Maddox, 6818 Bradley Road, Sanford.
