SANFORD — Mr. Wesley Allen Davis, age 75, of Sanford, NC died Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Central Carolina Hospital.

He was born in Robeson County, NC on April 1, 1938, to the late Leroy A. Davis and Jocie Key Davis. He moved to Sanford at age 14 and graduated from Greenwood High School, served in the United States Air Force four years and was employed with the U.S. Postal Service in Sanford for 29 years. He retired October 2, 1992 and worked several years with the ABC Board. He was a member of Pocket Presbyterian Church serving as an Elder and Deacon.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Hussey Davis; two sons, Brian Davis and wife Pam, Lee Davis and wife Shannon, all of Sanford; sister, Jean Hodges and husband Ray of Sanford; three grandchildren, Ally, Natalie and Sean Davis; niece, Michelle Guarino and husband J.P and their daughter Isabella, all of Pittsboro.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Pocket Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Dudley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the services and at other times at the family home.

CAMERON — Clarence Robert Orman Jr., 77, of Cameron, died Saturday (1/18/14) at Peak Resources in Carthage.

He was born in Rochester, N.Y., on Sept. 16, 1936, to the late Clarence Robert Orman Sr. and Ethel Mae Prior Orman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Orman.

He is survived by three sons, Robert Orman and wife Mary of Livonia, N.Y., Jeffrey Orman and wife Elin of Hemlock, N.Y., and Michael Orman and wife Amy of Haw River; two daughters, Brenda Orman of Livonia, N.Y., and Diane Gridley and husband Mark of Salisbury; two brothers, Richard Orman of Southern Pines and Kenneth Orman of Farmington Hill, Mich.; two sisters, Eileen Artlip and Cheryl Overbey, both of Boynton Beach, Fla.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at a later date.

FUQUAY-VARINA — Mary Lou Sanford, 80, of Fuquay-Varina, died Sunday (1/19/14) at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

She was born in Johnston County, the daughter of the late Marvin Love and Mara Anna Wood Barbour. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Buck Sanford; and a son, Tony Sanford.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Chapel in Lillington. Burial will follow at Harnett Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m.

She is survived by two sons, Curtis Sanford and wife Teresa of Fuquay-Varina and Ken Sanford of Houston, Texas; one granddaughter; two sisters, Ernestine Maynard of Kenly and Elsie Tart of Dunn; two brothers, Melvin Barbour of Coats and Roy Barbour of Dunn; and daughter, Ginger Sanford of Clayton.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Chester Davis Patterson, 68, who died Friday (1/17/14), was conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at Hillview Christian Assembly with Pastor Ray Bodin and Chaplain Joel Cameron officiating. Burial followed at Lee Memory Gardens.

Pianist was Carla Walsh. Soloists were Bobby Barbour, Carson Lemons and Kenneth Parker. The Praise and Worship Team consisting of Carla Walsh on the piano, Bobby Barbour on the bass guitar, the Rev. Ray Bodin on the bass guitar, and singers, Kenneth Parker, Richard Walsh, Carson Lemons, Shelby Bodin and Irene Thomas, sang.

Pallbearers were Odell Lawrence, Brian Lawrence, Michael Kelly, Richard Kelly, Alvin Dickens and “PeeWee” Taylor.

SANFORD — Warren Hampton Wallace, 67, of Sanford, died Sunday (1/19/14) at his home.

He was born in Lee County, Ala., on Jan. 27, 1946, to the late Mitchell McNeice Wallace and Catherine Hampton Wallace of Madison. He was an electrical engineer and a 1968 graduate of Auburn University.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Emily McBride Wallace; son, Corbett Wallace of Vienna, Austria; daughter, Hayden Long and husband Tim of Suwanee, Ga.; stepsons, Mark Malloy and Scott Malloy and wife Lisa, all of Phenix City, Ala.; sister, Cathy Ann Yates and husband Joe of Greensboro; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Grace Chapel Church at 4 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Joel Murr and the Rev. Michael J. Emeott officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church.

CARTHAGE — Ruby Crabtree Maness, 85, of Mt. Carmel Road, died Saturday (1/18/14) at Peak Resources – Pinelake in Carthage.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Unity Grove Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Terry Warren and the Rev. Jimmy Shirlan. Burial will follow at Pine Rest Cemetery in Robbins.

A native of Moore County and a daughter of the late Andrew and Sarah Sheffield Crabtree, she worked in textiles most of her life and in later years did private duty work. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene G. Maness; two sisters and four brothers.

She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Caddell and husband Wayne of Carthage; sons, Garry L. Maness and wife Gayle of Carthage, Ronald C. Maness of Eagle Springs, Donnie R. Maness and wife Viola and Dwight R. Maness, all of Robbins; brothers, Curtis Crabtree of Carthage and Carlton Crabtree of Indiana; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Marian Lorraine Wicker, 62, of Sanford, who died Saturday (1/18/14), was conducted Monday at 3 p.m. at Salem Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Tyler Williams officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

Pianist was Faye Cameron. Dawn and Wilson Weathers sang.
