JAMES G. BEAL SR.

THOMASVILLE — Mr. James (Jim) G. Beal, Sr., 79, a resident of Thomasville, N.C., passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013 at his residence.

Jim was born October 19, 1934 in Chatham County, N.C., a son of the late William Baxter Beal and Willie Beal Beal. He had made this area his home for the past fifty eight years. Jim was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was owner and operator of Beal’s Roofing & Siding and was also a former employee of Lowe’s Distribution. Jim liked to go fishing, rabbit hunting, training and running beagle dogs and gardening. He was a member of the Father’s House in High Point. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Victor Beal, Herbert Beal and Claudis Earl Beal. On January 19, 1952 he married Hazel Gray who survives of the home.

Also surviving are his sons, Grady Beal, Jr. and wife Cindy of Thomasville, Timothy (Tim) Lee Beal and wife Frances of Trinity; a daughter, Dianne Beal Childress and husband Thomas of Lexington; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Elizabeth (Sis) Wright of Sanford.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with the Rev. Pershing Hagerman and the Rev. Lewis Coltren officiating. Interment will follow in the Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

SANFORD — Graveside service for Roy Wesley Wicker, 72, of Lillington, who died Thursday (11/28/13), was held at 11 a.m. Monday at Lee Memory Gardens by the Rev. Charlie Carrol.

SYLVIA BULLINS JONES

VASS — Sylvia Bullins Jones, 84, died Saturday (11/30/13).

She was born in Hoke County on Sept. 27, 1929, to the late Ernest Bullins and Levia Simpson Bullins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Vivian Jones; a son, James Lee Jones; a brother, Bill Bullins; and a brother-in-law, Earl Cheek. She worked as a seamstress for Angus Mills prior to retirement.

She is survived by her daughters, Josephine Marks and husband Harold, Patricia Marks and husband Edwin, and Jeannette Johnson and husband Lacy, all of Cameron, and Darlene McCoy and husband Bobby of Carthage; a sister, Ruby Cheek of Cameron; 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home and other times at the home of Bobby and Darlene McCoy, 1171 Torchwood Road, Carthage.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church with the Rev. George Brice presiding. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

PITTSBORO — Betty McRae, 83, of 8969 Cinnabay Drive, Charlotte, formerly of Pittsboro, died Saturday (11/30/13) at her residence. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Knotts Funeral Home in Pittsboro.

FELICIA ANDREW BEAVERS

SILER CITY — Felecia Andrew Beavers, 78, of Siler City-Glendon Road, died Saturday (11/30/13) at the Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

She was born in Chatham County on March 24, 1935, the daughter of the late Burton Albert and Eula (Whitehead) Andrew. She was a homemaker and in her earlier years she worked at A.J. Schneierson and Sons. She was a member of Edward Hill Friends Meeting, where she taught Sunday school for 25 years, a former Elder and held several offices and served on several committees.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Cecil L. Beavers; two sons, Leon Beavers and wife Annette of Sanford, and Lynn Beavers and wife Becky of Garner; three daughters, Cheryl B. Hilliard of Bear Creek, Janelle Beavers of Siler City and Julia B. Kidd and husband Dennis of High Falls; one brother, Earle Ben Andrew and wife Bessie of Robbins; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home in Siler City.

Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Edward Hill Friends Meeting in Siler City with Josh Conrad officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

MARY MOZELLE CHEEK COLE

SANFORD — Funeral service for Mary Mozelle Cheek Cole, 89, who died Wednesday (11/27/13), was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pocket Presbyterian Church by the Rev David Dudley and the Rev. Keith Miller. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

During the service, the congregation sang and the organist was Cindy Hayes Gladden. Alta Warwick gave the eulogy.

Pallbearers were Jennifer Smith, Nicole Holmes, Patrick Holmes, Michael Holmes, Chris Brewer and Lucas Palmer. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Jonesboro Heights Order of the Eastern Star and the Pocket Presbyterian Mamie Cole Day Circle.

SANFORD — A Service of Death and Resurrection for Jacques Lyman Miller was held at St. Luke United Methodist Church on Sunday with the Rev. Dr. A. Gene Cobb Jr. and the Rev. Jaye White presiding. Organist was Dianne Stanley.

Sanford Marine Corp League #1226 concluded the service with presentation of the flag and the playing of taps.

Burial will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.

NEW HILL — Funeral service for Mary Lou "Phillips" Breedlove, 67, who died Monday (11/25/13), was conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Elam Christian Church in New Hill with the Rev. Benny Oakes officiating. Entombment followed at Lee Memory Gardens. Pianist and soloist was Marcie Lorbarcher.

Pallbearers were Danny Newsom, Daniel Newsom, Ronnie Smith, Kenny Fish, Noah Anderson and Grey Sehulster. Honorary pallbearers were Austin Phillips and Jack Sehulster.

FAYETTEVILLE — Jessie Johnson Jr., 74, of 4849 Fogarty Drive, died Wednesday (11/27/13) at Cape Fear Medical Center in Fayetteville. Arrangements are incomplete and will be handled by Cunningham & Son’s Mortuary in Fayetteville.

SOUTHERN PINES — Bessie Wilt Moss, 85, died Saturday (11/30/13) at Penick Village in Southern Pines. Arrangements are pending and will be announced by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Maedelle Pearson Allen, 87, who died Thursday (11/28/13), was conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Love Grove AME Zion Church with the Rev. Dr. Alfred Ferguson officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

The church choir sang. Soloist was Dorothy Matthews.

Pallbearers were friends of the family.

MARY BUIE SCRIVEN

CAMERON — Funeral service for Mary Buie Scriven, 55, who died Sunday (11/24/13), was conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Works For Christ Christian Center with Dr. Thurman R. McNeill and Dr. Roland Foreman officiating. Burial was at Lee Memory Gardens.

The Deliverance Church of Christ Gospel Choir sang. Soloist was Twanne Ray.

Pallbearers were Robert Hill, Brandon Lee, Reginald Matthews, Terrell McGilveary, James Richardson and John Smith.

Arrangements were by Knotts Funeral Home.

ANNETTE SWANN DAVIS

SANFORD — Funeral service for Annette Swann Davis, 47, who died Thursday (11/28/13), was held at 2 p.m. Monday at Olivia Presbyterian Church by the Rev. George Walton. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

During the service, the congregation sang and the duet was George and Holly Walton. Holly Walton was the pianist and played the mandolin. Rev. Walton played the guitar.

Eulogy was given by Sara Allen.

Pallbearers were Lee Allen, Sarat Bell, Larry Godwin, Jimmy Kellam, Adam Swann, Kevin Swann, Larry Thomas and Carl Yarborough.
