GLORAS HAYES PICKARD

SANFORD — Gloras H. Pickard, 93, died Friday (2/1/13).

She lived in Siler City before moving to Sanford in the late 1990's.

She is survived by her daughters, Gloras Elizabeth Dawson of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Alice Bruton Wieland of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sisters, Betty Ann Hayes and Danny Furr, both of Wilmington.

A private memorial service will be held with immediate family at a later date.

CARTHAGE —  Emma Degraffenreid, 81, of Carthage, died Friday (2/8/2013) at First Health Moore Regional Hosptial in Pinehurst.

SANFORD — John H. Newby Jr., 61, of 500 Dudley St., Sanford, died Tuesday (2/5/2013) at his residence.

He is survived by three sons, John Henry Hancock (Renea), William Hancock, both of Sanford, and Rodney Sims of Fayetteville; two daughters, Jacqueline Steele of Virginia and Jessica Newby of Sanford; four sisters, Barbara Campbell of Broadway; Shirley Carter of Fayetteville, Valerie Curry of Orange City, New Jersey and Shonda Currie of Newark, New Jersey; two brothers, William Cameron of Sanford and Robert Cameron (Robin) of Sanford; 24 grandchildren, one aunt; one great aunt; two uncles and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

SANFORD — Helen Phillips, 89, of Sanford, died Friday (2/8/2013) at Sanford Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time however the family will be at the home of Ernest and Debbie Phillips, 150 Dycus Road, Sanford.

  PHYLLIS BUCHANAN YEASEL

LEWISTOWN, OHIO — Phyllis Buchanan Yeasel, 88, of Lewistown, Ohio, died Dec. 22, 2012 at Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine, Ohio.

She was born on August 17, 1924 in Pleasantville, Ohio to the Lester and Flo McCreary Buchanan. On December 11, 1953, she married Charles Dean Yeasel in Richmond, Indiana, and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Anthony Haynes, her sister Zoe Buchanan, brother, Franklin Buchanan, sister-in-law, Lucy Buchanan, and a son-in-law, Charles Heppard.

Yeasel is survived by two daughters, Helen Yeasel Heppard of Mechanicsburg, Ohio and Donna (Charles) Yeasel Haynes of Lewistown, six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a great-great grandson, a niece, and a nephew.

A memorial picnic will be held 1 p.m. Feb. 16, 2013 at Winner’s Harvest Barn, 7317 State Route 47 W, DeGraff, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her name to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Fla. 33607.
