JAMES RALPH HOLT SR.

SANFORD — Mr. James Ralph Holt, Sr., age 77, of Broadway, N.C., died Sunday, May 5, 2013, at his home.

Mr. Holt was born on Dec. 15, 1935, to the late Challie B. Holt and Molinda Jane Buchanan Holt. He was preceded in death by a sister, Geneva LaMora; a brother, Robert Holt and by a stepson, Steven McNeill. He was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Opal Patterson Holt; a son, Ralph Holt, Jr. and wife Belinda of Sanford, N.C.; a daughter, Michelle Chrisco and husband Steve of Olivia, N.C.; a stepson, Christopher McNeill and wife Wendy of Lynchburg, Virginia; a brother, Bryant Holt and wife Polly of Sanford, N.C.; a sister, Frances Nobles of Charlotte, N.C.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 8, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home. The funeral will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2013, at 4:00 p.m. at Holly Springs Baptist Church in Broadway, N.C. with Rev. Jerry Parsons officiating.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm, Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church, Broadway, NC. Burial will follow at Cameron Grove Cemetery.

Wake will be held Friday, May 10, 2013, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at Knotts Funeral Home, 719 Wall Street, Sanford, NC.

JOSEPH FLOYD DOUGLAS

SANFORD — Joseph Floyd Douglas, 76, died Tuesday (5/7/13) at his home.

He was born in Harnett County on Aug. 7, 1936, to the late Charlie Glenn Douglas and Sally Diana Creed Douglas. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Frances Patterson Douglas; sister, Elsie Carpenter; and brother, Lloyd Douglas. He was owner and operator of Doug's Appliance Service. He also farmed many years ago and ran a sawmill for 16 years.

He is survived by one son, Joseph Floyd “Joey” Douglas Jr. and fiancé Helen Daniel of Sanford; two daughters, Gwendolyn Douglas Little and husband Joe, and Kim D. Donathan, all of Sanford; two brothers, Neil Douglas of Sanford and Billy Douglas of Arizona; one sister, Pauline Meyers of Sanford; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Cool Springs United Methodist Church in Broadway. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

ROGER STOKES MCNEIL

LILLINGTON — Funeral service for Roger Stokes McNeil, 52, who died Friday (5/3/13), was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Knotts Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Deon Allbrooks officiating. Burial was at Rock Springs FWB Church cemetery at Raven Rock.

Music was provided by Frederick Berryman and Deon Allbrooks.

Pallbearers were friends of the family.

ROBERT FREDERICK CHAMBLESS

BROADWAY — Funeral service for Robert Frederick Chambless, 83, who died Monday (4/29/13), was conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Holly Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Parsons and the Rev. Garland Smith officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Air Force and Masonic Rites conducted by Friendship Masonic Lodge #763 AF&AM.

During the service, Stephanie McRae was the soloist, the congregation sang, Louise Oyster was the pianist and David Oyster was the organist.

Pallbearers were members of Friendship Masonic Lodge No. 763 AF&AM.

Arrangements were by Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.

VIOLA ELIZABETH LEE

MONCURE — Funeral service for Viola Elizabeth Lee, 94, who died Sunday (4/28/13), was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Moncure with the Rev. Kerry Hawkins officiating. Burial was at Bryant Cemetery.

Providing music were the Mt. Olive Choir, Sammy Raines and Mary Moffitt.

Pallbearers were family and friends.

Arrangements were by Knotts Funeral Home.

ERNEST ROSSER RING

VASS — Ernest Rosser Ring, 83, died Monday (5/6/13) at ManorCare of Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Beaver Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Darrin Moore and Pastor John Brown officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

He was born in Vass on April 30, 1930, to Troy B. and Nellie Garner Ring. He farmed and lived in Vass all his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy B. and Nellie Garner Ring; one sister, Lucy Ring; and one brother, Layton Ring.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Frances Morgan Ring; one son, Roger B. Ring of Vass; two daughters, Linda Stewart of Sanford and Joyce Blue of Vass; two sisters, Helen Ross of Whispering Pines and Grace Thompson of Southern Pines; one brother, Lawrence Ring of Vass; and two granddaughters.

A visitation will be held at Cox Memorial Funeral Home today from 6 until 8 p.m.
