MARY ANN BROWN LANIER

SANFORD — Mary Ann (Peggy) Brown Lanier (78) of Sanford died on April 30, 2014.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Joseph R. Lanier; daughters, Beverly Nicholas and husband Donald of Buies Creek, Sheila Nelson of Minnesota; and grandchildren, Aprille Campbell and Jesse Nicholas.

There will be no memorial service, however, the family will receive friends at the home of Joe Lanier, 517 McIver St., Sanford and at the home of Beverly Nicholas, 59 Peace St., Lillington, N.C.

LLOYD E. SHARP JR.

LILLINGTON — Lloyd E. Sharp Jr., 59, of Lillington, died Wednesday (4/30/14) at Wake Medical Center in Cary.

He was born in Delaware County, Pa., the son of the late Lloyd E. Sharp Sr. and Anna Boyko Sharp.

Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Harnett Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Charlene West Sharp; son, Jason Sharp and wife Tonya of Lillington; daughter, Jennifer Brock and husband Eric of Lillington; four grandchildren; brother, Dave Boyko of Havertown, Pa.; sisters, Linda Finfrock of Cary Deb Sharp of Lancaster, Pa., and many nieces and nephews.

NANCY SUE DAVIS MOON

SANFORD — Funeral service for Nancy Sue Davis Moon, 73, of Sanford, who died Friday (4/25/14), was held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Shallow Well United Church of Christ with the Rev. Robert Thomas officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

Pianist was John Godfrey. Organist was Patricia Thomas. Piano solo was by John Godfrey. The congregation and the church choir sang.

Pallbearers were Kelly Jones, Jerry Batchelor, Jimmy Maddox, Ray Norris, Terry Thomas and Gary Bullock.

Arrangements were by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

SAM YARBOUGH

PITTSBORO — Sam (Tom) Yarbough, 86, of 644 Hwy. 902, Pittsboro, died Tuesday (4/29/14) at Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro.

He was the son of the late Sam and Ollie Penny Yarbough.

Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Stanton Memorial CME Church in Pittsboro. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Pittsboro Cemetery.

VIRGINIA POINDEXTER CREEK

VINTON, Va. — Virginia Poindexter Crook, 73, of 1023 Ross Road, Vinton, Va., and formerly of Chatham, died Wednesday (4/30/14).

She was born on Dec. 22, 1940, in Sanford, the daughter of the late Thomas Poindexter and the late Maggie Buchanan Poindexter. She was married to the late Wilbur Lewis (Bill) Crook. She had previously attended Marion Baptist Church prior to moving to Vinton.

She is survived by her daughter, Belinda Crook Garrett and her husband Steve of Vinton; two sisters, Ruby Creed and Alice Gainey and her husband Charlie, of Sanford; two brothers, Tommy Poindexter and his wife Bertie, and Phillip Poindexter and his wife Pam, all of Sanford; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Marion Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Henry M. Meadows Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Hollywood Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Marion Baptist Church from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.

LEON MASHBURN

SEAGROVE — Leon Mashburn, 84, of Seagrove, died Wednesday (4/30/14) at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Graveside funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 3 p.m. at Maple Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Matthew Gunter and the Rev. Billy Joe Brady officiating.

He was born in Moore County, and was a retired truck driver with Luck's in Seagrove. He was the son of the late Brooks and Jennie Dowd Mashburn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Mashburn; son, Tony Mashburn; brother, Larry Mashburn; and sisters, Angie Maude Oldham and Mary Sue Garner.

He is survived by daughters, Hilda King of Robbins, and Tina Turner and husband Chad of Asheboro; stepsons, Spencer and Josh Goins; brothers, Joe Mashburn and wife Sherry of Carthage, and Jerry Mashburn of Carthage; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall after the graveside service.
