ANNIE LEE HOPKINS MATTHEWS
SANFORD — Annie Lee Hopkins Matthews, 83, of Sanford, died Friday (5/9/14) at Central Carolina Hospital.
She was born on June 22, 1930, in Cameron to the late Pate and Cora Godfrey Hopkins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, William Gaither Matthews; one brother, Dillard Hopkins; and one sister, Vallie Marsh.
She is survived by two children, Frankie Matthews and his wife Bonnie, and Jackie Matthews Bass and her husband Jeff; four grandchildren, Dennis Matthews and his wife Diana, Jonathan Matthews and his wife Brandi, and Justin and Jordan Serrano; three great grandchildren, Daniel and McKenzie Matthews and Kendal Serrano; and two step-grandchildren, Laura Harrell and Adam Bass.
A visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m. Sunday at Pocket Presbyterian Church. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the church with interment in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pocket Presbyterian Church, 669 Pocket Church Road, Sanford NC 27330.

EDWARD CHAPIN OLDHAM
PITTSBORO — Mr. Edward Chapin Oldham, 91, died Friday, (5/9/14) at Cambridge Hills in Pittsboro.
Chapin was born on March 13, 1923, in Chatham County, son of the late Coley Graham Oldham and Mamie Cooper Oldham. He honorably served as a Master Sergeant in the Army Signal Corps in Okinawa, Japan during World War II. Chapin met and married the former Audrey Campbell. They were together 61 years until her death Oct. 9, 2003.
Chapin Oldham is survived by his sons, Chapin Pierre “Pete” Oldham (Dare Scott Oldham) of Asheboro, and Steven Eugene “Gene” Oldham (Vicky Thomas Oldham) of Pittsboro; his grandchildren, Andrea Oldham Anderson (Calvin) of Yorktown, Va., Heather Oldham Osborne (Jody) of Clemmons, Steve Oldham (Catherine Hamm Oldham) of Pittsboro, and T.J. Oldham (Jenna Arthurs Oldham) of Pittsboro; his great-grandchildren, Eric, Brian and David Anderson, Jordan, Daniel and Emma Grace Osborne and A.J. Oldham; his brother, Graham Camp Oldham of Pittsboro; and his sister-in-law, Emma Dell Ritter of High Point.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday (5/11/14) at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 396 West St., Pittsboro. A funeral service for Mr. Oldham will be held 11 a.m. Monday (5/12/14) in the Griffin Chapel of Hall-Wynne, Pittsboro with the Rev. Ray Gooch presiding. Burial will follow at Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
