BROADWAY — Ruby Mae Pulley Chalmers, 82, of 212 Rosser-Pittman Road, died Friday (7/20/13) at her residence.

She is survived by four daughters, Anne C. Shaw of Sanford, Veronica C. Mays (Matthew), Glenda Chalmers, and Gloria C. Boyce (Marcus), all of Broadway; four sons, Henry A. Chalmers of Spring Lake, Jimmy E. Chalmers, Floyd Chalmers and Bruce Chalmers (Becky), all of Broadway; 31 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, two nieces, two nephews and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at First Church Disciples of Christ in Broadway. Burial will follow at Chalmers Cemetery.

Wake will be held today from 7 until 8 p.m. at Knotts Funeral Home in Sanford.

SANFORD — Graveside service for Lane Siler McArtan, 91, formerly of Dunn, who died Saturday (7/20/13), was held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Greenwood Cemetery in Dunn by the Rev. David Sherrod.

During the service, bag piper was Peter McArthur.

BROADWAY — Graveside memorial service for Everett William Jones Sr., 66, who died Tuesday (7/16/13), was conducted at 12 p.m. Wednesday at the Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake with Father Robert Ippolito officiating. Military honors were provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard.

SANFORD — Willa Britt Grainger, 65, of Sanford, died Wednesday (7/24/13) at her home.

She was born on August 1, 1947, in Robeson County, to the late James P. Britt and Nellie Tyner Britt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayland Carlton Grainger; a sister, Shirley Jane Britt; and brothers, Wayne Britt and James P. Britt Jr.

She is survived by two sons, Micky Wells and wife Patsy, and James Randy Wells and wife B.J., all of Sanford; a daughter, Deana Arnold and husband Kevin of Benson; brother, Gene Britt of Kerr Lake; sisters, Alice Gooden and Deborah Wyatt and husband Sam, all of Whiteville, and Faye Britt of Wilmington; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service Friday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery.

SILER CITY — Sgt. Major (U.S. Army retired) Bobby Ray Inman, 67, died Wednesday (7/24/13) at the FirstHealth Hospice House in West End.

He was born in Mt. Airy on November 30, 1945, to the late Elbert Inman and Mary McLawhorn Inman. He served in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam and Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Storm. He retired after 20 years of service in the Army and Army Reserve. Following his retirement from the Army, he worked as the motor pool supervisor for Orange County Public Works Department in Hillsboro.

He is survived by his wife, Annette Wicker Inman; son, Brian Inman of Siler City; daughters, Landis “Molly” Inman Castano and husband Vince, and Penny Inman Cockerham, all of Sanford; brothers, John Inman and wife Jackie, and Paul Inman and wife Janice, all of Bear Creek, and Lee Inman and wife Kay of Sanford; and one sister, Judy Anderson and husband Jimmy of Bonlee.

A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Shallow Well Church cemetery with Pat Blakley and Kelly Rouse officiating. There will not be a formal visitation.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Wilma Lee Donithan Allen, 61, who died Monday (7/22/13), was held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rogers Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Steve Ray. Burial followed at Buffalo Cemetery.

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — W. Paul Phillips died Monday (7/22/13) at Virginia Beach General Hospital.

He was predeceased by his parents, George Lyle and Lessie Lawrence Phillips; brothers, Wayne Lawrence Phillips and George Lyle Phillips Jr. He grew up in Norfolk and lived in Sanford and Virginia Beach, Va. He retired from the Virginia Beach Department of Zoning and was a member of Virginia Beach Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Connor Phillips; three sons and their wives, Paul and Tonda Phillips, Andrew and Sharon Phillips, Carlos Phillips and Cathy Smith; sister and her husband, Patricia and John Morton; brother and his wife, John Richard and Gail Phillips; several grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Virginia Beach Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, friends and family may contribute to Virginia Beach SPCA in his memory.
