EVELYN JANE MCCANTS

SANFORD — Evelyn Jane McCants, 91, of 170 Alfred Alston Road, died Wednesday (10/30/13) at her residence.

She was born March 14, 1922 in Cape Charles, W.Va., to the late Ulysses Grant and Mary Lee Watson.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at New Endland A.M.E. Zion. Burial will follow at Lee Memory Gardens.

She is survived by three children, Constance McRae of Sanford, Jerry McCants (Roselle) of New York and Bertha McCants of the home; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.

GREENSBORO — Parish Wright, infant, died Tuesday (10/29/13) at Greensboro Women's Hospital in Greensboro.

Graveside will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Johnsonville Cemetery.

She is survived by her mother, Shaniquah Wright of Greensboro; her father, Ricky James of Greensboro; maternal grandparents, Byron and Felicia Wright of Cameron; paternal grandparents, Patricia Joyner of Dominican Republic and Wendell Cawford of Haiti; maternal great-grandparents, Joseph and Pricilla Brower of Cameron; maternal great-great-grandmother, Alice Brower of Cameron; three aunts and three uncles.

TONY JONES

CAMERON — Tony Jones, 59, of 24317 Hwy 24/27, died Sunday (10/27/13) at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

He is survived by his wife Jean; son Antoine; daughter Tiffany; four brothers, Donald, Keith, Rodney and Vaughne; a sister, Terri; two granddaughters, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Knotts Funeral Home Chapel.

CELIA CHEEK BROWN

SILER CITY — Celia Cheek Brown, 89, of the Coleridge community, died Tuesday (10/29/13).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Laverne Brown, and her youngest son, Melvin Lee Brown.

She is survived by her children, David Brown and Priscilla DeVane (Timothy), all of Greensboro, and Patricia Patterson (James) of Liberty; sisters, Pauline Hardy of Wilson and Margaret Edwards of Siler City; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Knotts & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Siler City with family visitation at 10 a.m.

Internment will be at Lakeview Memorial Park in Greensboro.

VIRGILIO VINCENT

SOUTHERN PINES — Virgilio Vincent, 83, died Tuesday (11/29/13) at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Powell Funeral Home and Crematory in Southern Pines. A private family service will be held at the graveside following the visitation.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Lena Jane Howard Vincent; and his parents, Celeste Gonsalves Vincente and Virgilio Vincente Sr. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa. after his parents immigrated from Portugal to the United States.  He was an aviator and for 35 years an Aviation Specialist for the Department of Defense. He served in the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by four daughters, Kathleen Vincent and husband Al Simmons of Carthage, Shelli Vincent and spouse William Rocchi of Pinehurst, Kelli Vincent Peasley and husband Mark Peasley of Fredericksburg, Va., and Barbara Vincent Bishop; one son, Keith Vincent and wife Judy Vincent of Huntsville, Ala; and seven grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First Health Hospice and Palliative Care, 251 Campground Road, Pinehurst, N.C.
