PETER ARCHIE BOTZIS

GREENSBORO — Peter Archie Botzis, 71, of Greensboro, went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Beacon Place.

A funeral service will be held Friday, December 7, 2012 at 2:00 pm, at Hanes Lineberry N. Elm Chapel with Pastor Joe Giaritelli officiating. A graveside service will follow at 4:30 p.m. at Buffalo Cemetery in Sanford, NC.

Pete was born March 31, 1941 in Sanford, the son of the late Gladys Lawrence Botzis and Archie Peter Botzis.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard before completing his degree in Industrial relations at UNC-Chapel Hill in 1965. His career in the textile industry progressed from working at Greensboro Manufacturing to Creighton Shirt Company in Reidsville, NC where he was the plant manager for many years.

Pete was a devoted father to his three children, Krista, Gina and Michael. He enjoyed working in his yard on Saturdays and conversing with the neighbors, yearly family vacations to Ocean Isle Beach, and attending church. He found great pleasure in helping others and in talking about the simple pleasures in life.

In his later years, he pursued researching his Greek ancestry. He fulfilled a life-long dream of visiting his father's grave at Normandy American Cemetery (“Omaha Beach”), France. He loved spending time with his five grandchildren and always wanted to buy them treats.

Surviving are his daughters, Krista Brady and her daughters, Mercer and Mahlon, and Gina Botzis, all of Greensboro; son, Michael Botzis and wife Fran and their three sons, Benjamin, Harrison and Alexander of Raleigh; and the mother of his three children, Jean Botzis.

Friends will be received from 1 to 2 pm, prior to the service, at the funeral home.

CHARITY ELIZABETH HUNT YARBOROUGH

SANFORD — Mrs. Charity Elizabeth Hunt Yarborough, age 88, of Sanford, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Parkview Retirement Home.

She was born in Lee County on January 25, 1924 to the late Abner Flynn Hunt and Elizabeth Wicker Hunt. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Thomas Carr Yarborough Sr. and brother, Robert Wicker. Mrs. Yarborough was a life-long member of Jonesboro Presbyterian Church and was also a member of the VFW and American Legion. She retired from Koury Company after 40 years of service as a seamstress.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Carr “T.C.” Yarborough Jr. and wife Kimberly of Sanford; grandchildren, Danielle Yarborough Riddle and husband Gary of Sanford, Shannon Yarborough Buchanan and husband Todd of Sanford, Thomas Carr “Carr” Yarborough III and Heather Giles of Broadway, Brandy Dawn Yarborough of Sanford; great-grandchildren, Madison Blair Whitaker and husband Derrick of Virginia Beach, VA, Kelli Mackenzie Riddle, Britton Kaleb Buchanan, Dawson Thomas Buchanan all of Sanford, Payton Carlee Yarborough of Broadway; great-great-grandchildren, Reighlynn Blair Whitaker of Virginia Beach, VA; step-grandchildren, Heather Moody Oldham of Graham, Jessica Moody Corona of Siler City; step-great-grandchildren, Ashley Riddle of Sanford; five step-great-grandchildren of Siler City and two step-great-great-grandchildren of Sanford.

The family will receive friends Saturday, December 8, 2012 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of Jonesboro Presbyterian Church and at other times at T.C. and Kim's home, 2004 Belford Drive, Sanford. The funeral will follow at 11:00 AM with Rev. Kathryn Dudley and Mrs. Yarborough's nephew, Rev. Mike Yarborough officiating. Burial will follow at Shallow Well cemetery.

LINDA LOU COOPER GARNER

SANFORD — Linda Lou Cooper Garner, 67, died Tuesday (12/4/12) in Mechanicsville, Va.

She was born in Lee County on Aug. 23, 1945, to the late Brownie Lee Cooper and Ruth Edna Abernathy Cooper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Kay Dempsey, and a brother, William “Bill” Cooper. She graduated from Hampton High School in Hampton, Va., and was a member of Pineywood Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Albert Garner; sons, Randy Dempsey of Sanford, and Robert Dempsey of Holden, Mo.; stepdaughters, Lynn Crabtree of Mechanicsville, Va., and Kathy Gill and husband Billy of Saluda, Va.; sisters, Peggy Holder of Lakeview, Carolyn Benson and husband Johnny of Venice, Fla., Martha Caviness and husband Jim, and Nancy Cooper, all of Sanford; three stepgrandchildren and many step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends todayy from 7 until 9 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home. The funeral will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Pineywood Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Calhoun officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

KIMBERLY GAIL MCNEILL

BROADWAY — Funeral service for Kimberly Gail McNeill, 38, who died Tuesday (12/4/12), was held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Holly Springs Baptist Church in Broadway with the Rev. Jerry Parsons officiating. Burial followed at Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pianist was Louise Oyster. Organist was David Oyster. Soloist was Richard Sistrunk. The congregation also sang.

Active pallbearers were Barry Baber, Dal Langston, Morris McClellan, Gene McNeill Jr., Kevin Thomas and Jonathan Wilson. Employees of Central Electric Membership Corporation sat together as a group.

WILLIAM CHARLES GRAHAM

OLIVIA — William Charles Graham, 69, died Wednesday (12/5/12) at Central Carolina Hospital.

He was born in Lee County, on Jan. 11, 1943, to the late Garland Judson Graham and Odell Godfrey Graham. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Crissman; and a sister, Carolyn Dalrymple. He served in the N.C. National Guard and was retired from the telephone company as an inspector.

He is survived by three stepsons, Terry G. Thomas and wife Patsy, and Ricky G. Thomas and wife Sharon, all of Sanford, and Ronnie Lee Thomas and wife Denise of Olivia; a stepdaughter, Shelia McNeill of Shallotte; a sister, Faye Hall and husband Lloyd of Spring Lake; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew.

The visitation will be held today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home and other times at 615 Seawell-Rosser Road, Olivia.

Funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at Olivia Presbyterian Church with the Rev. George Walton presiding. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

CARTHAGE — Donnie Alton McIntosh, 58, died Wednesday (12/5/12) at his residence.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Crossroads Community Church with the Rev. David Bibey officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home.

A native of Moore County, he was the son of the late Alton McIntosh and Mollie Wheeler McIntosh. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John McIntosh.

He is survived by two sons, John McIntosh of Gibsonville and Jamie McIntosh and wife Kimberly of Greensboro; one grandchild; three sisters, Kathy Gurganus and husband Steve, Sally Williams and husband Madison, and Patricia Rundle and husband Patrick; three brothers, Alton Spencer McIntosh, James McIntosh and wife Pam, and Steven McIntosh, all of Carthage.

HIAWASSEE, Ga. — Mary L Kiem, formerly of Sanford, died Monday (11/12/12).

She was born in Florence, S.C., daughter of the late Edmund Clark Luster and Mary Elizabeth McIver Luster.

SANFORD — Timotheus DeVon Dunbar, 28, of 105 E. Chisholm St., died Saturday (12/1/12) at Central Carolina Hospital.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Christian Provision Church with Bishop Charles Mellette officiating. Interment will be on Tuesday at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

He was a graduate of Lee Senior High School and served several years in the U.S. Navy with an honorable discharge in April 2012.

He is survived by his mother, Darcell Cole of the home; father, Norman Dunbar (Ella) of Florida; one daughter, Kaleigh Dunbar; one sister, Dalpheny Minter (Quincy) of Sanford; three brothers, Bobby Cole and Lavar Cole, both of Sanford, and Antwan Williams of Florida; maternal grandmother, Patricia C. Rives, and paternal grandmother, Arlene Trusell, both of Sanford; and a host of other relatives and friends.

VASS — James (Jimmy) W. Mills Jr., 61, died Tuesday (12/4/12) at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

Graveside service will be held today at 10 a.m. at Johnson Grove Cemetery with military honors with Pastor John Brown officiating.

He was born in Siler City on March 2, 1951, to James William and Lue Eastridge Mills Sr. He was preceded in death by his father, James William Mills Sr.; his wife, Janet Yarborough Mills; and grandparents, Will and Lillian Eastridge.

He is survived by his mother, Lue Eastridge Mills; one daughter, Jamie Lynn Mills; two sons, James (J.W.) William Mills III and Walter Luther Mills, both of Vass; three sisters, Annie Ruth Briggs of Vass, Pat Westmoreland and husband Darrell of Surfside Beach, and Jessie Lou Maddox and husband Gene of Swansboro; two brothers, Jackie Allen Mills and wife Vickie of Vass, and Robert Michael Mills and wife Tammy of Kelly; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

SILER CITY — Roberta Brown Teague, 89, of 1221 Silk Hope Road, died Tuesday (12/4/12) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

She was born in Robbins on Oct. 29, 1923, the daughter of James Madison and Blanche (Ray) Brown. She worked at Collins & Aikman for 32 years as a cloth inspector. She was a member of Loves Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady L. Teague Sr; and sons, Grady Teague Jr. and Richard Wayne Teague.

She is survived by four daughters, Nell T. Caudle and husband Raymond of McLeansville, Joyce T. Branson of Bear Creek, Jewel T. Hall of Gibsonville, and Hilda T. Spivey and husband Ronnie of Bynum; five sisters, Virginia McIntrye of Troy, Clara Saunders of Robbins, Elizabeth Poole of Sparta, Kay Elliott of Robbins, and Rose Cassady of Brown Summit; two brothers, Winfred Brown and David Brown, both of Robbins; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Ruth Wicker Trogdon, 72, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., formerly of Sanford, who died Friday (11/30/12), was held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Cool Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Ira Sutton and Pastor Matt Martin officiating. Eulogy was by Pastor Matt Martin. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

Pianist was Sherry Pruette. Organist was Frances Phillips. Soloist was Frances Phillips. The congregation also sang.

Pallbearers were George Caviness, Jim Caviness, Bob Price and Roger Beattie.

The family received friends at Cool Springs Baptist Church Fellowship Hall immediately following the interment.
