SANDRA DALE JOHNSON PARRIES (pic)

SANFORD — Mrs. Sandra Dale Johnson Parries, age 71, of the Deep River Community, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at her home.

She was born in Wake County, NC on March 6, 1942 to the late Joseph Moyle Johnson and Ophelia McArthur Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W. Roger Parries and daughter, Jo Anna Parries. Sandra was the owner and operator of Sanford Janitorial Service along side of her husband Roger Parries and was a member of Jones Chapel United Methodist Church.

Sandra is survived by her son, William Parries and wife Jennifer of Deep River; sister, Martha Johnson Ragan and husband Tony of Deep River; four grandchildren, Larry Keith, Hannah and Evan Parries, Erin Fogarty; and two great-grandchildren, Landon and Riley Keith.

The family will receive friends Thursday, April 18, 2013, 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home and at other times at the home of William and Jennifer Parries, 2778 Deep River Road, Sanford. The funeral will be held Friday, April 19th at 3:00 PM at Jones Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Houston Blair presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

BRIAN RAWSON

SANFORD — Brian Rawson, 64, died Saturday (4/13/13).

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Stephen Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

He was born in Sheffield, England, son of the late Irene and Fred Rawson. He graduated from the University of Birmingham, England, with a BS degree in Engineering. He was an Engineer with GKN until his retirement. He came to Sanford in 1979 from England with a "Start Up Team" for GKN's Sanford operation.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Smolnik Rawson; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends following the services in the church fellowship hall.

ELMO GARNER

ROBBINS — Elmo “Bud” Garner, 88, of 160 Gibson Road, died Wednesday (4/17/13) at his home.

Funeral service will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. at Beulah Baptist Church, where he was the oldest member, with Dr. Neal Jackson and the Rev. Robert L. Kidd officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

He was a Moore County native and had retired from Robbins Mill and Chirpy's BBQ.

He is survived by his wife, Velna Caviness Garner; son, Ronald Garner and wife Faye of Robbins; daughters, Wanda G. Ellington and husband Steve, and Debra G. Ritter and husband Ronnie, all of Robbins; brothers, Jimmie H. Garner and wife Dot, and Willie A. “Bill” Garner and wife Janelle, all of Robbins.; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held today from 6 until 8 p.m. at Joyce-Brady Chapel in Bennett and other times at his home.

MANFRED ERICH LUTZ

SANFORD — Manfred Erich Lutz, 78, died Monday (4/15/13) at Central Carolina Hospital.

He was born on May 1, 1934, in Kirchheim-Teck, Germany, to the late Karl and Maria Lutz.

He is survived by his wife, Elke Lutz; three sons, David Lutz, Harald Lutz and Josef Straub; one brother, Hans Lutz; one sister, Elli Elsaesser; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

PRISCILLA MAE SIMS MCGRAW

SANFORD — Priscilla Mae Sims McGraw, 88, died Thursday (4/11/13).

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Roger Thomas.

She was born in West Virginia and preceded in death by her husband, Ausel McGraw; a daughter, Deborah Lowe; and a son, Jack McGraw.

She is survived by three sons, Jerry McGraw of Fuquay-Varina, Robert McGraw of Fayetteville, W.Va., and William McGraw of Raleigh; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will greet friends following the memorial service Monday.

SPRING LAKE — Benjamin "Bump" Shelvin Jr., 28, of 370 McKay Drive, died Friday (4/12/13) at Central Carolina Hospital.

He is survived by his mother, Berline B. McDougald (Ron) of Spring Lake; father, Benjamin Shelvin Sr. (Mary) of New Hill; Godparents, Beatrice and Aleveolus Smith of Spring Lake; grandmother, Christine Brewington, Spring Lake; children, Devonte' A. Shelvin of Dunn, King Benjamin Shelvin of Fayetteville, Kenyon A. Belton of Carthage, Dynasty N. Shelvin of Fayetteville and Harmony Thompson of Cameron; a stepdaughter, Sanaa McBeth of Fayetteville; brothers, Desmond T. Brewington of Charlotte and Brian Wesley Shelvin of Spring Lake; stepbrothers, Rashon King of Cameron, Perry Norman of Raleigh and Johnny Mac Norman of Moncure; sisters, Danita M. Lee (Tim) of Cameron, Charonda N. Shevin of Spring Lake, Latesha B. Lindsey (Terrell) of Erwin, Barbara L. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Works For Christ. No wake is scheduled. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery in Broadway.

LILLIAN HOLT PALMER

MONCURE — Funeral service for Lillian Holt Palmer, 80, who died Sunday (4/14/13), was held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Buckhorn United Methodist Church in Corinth with the Rev. Shay Hall officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

Pianist was Eileen Cotton. The Buckhorn United Methodist Church Choir sang and the congregation sang.

Pallbearers were Adam Hall, Tom Hazelett, Michael Holt, Michael Palmer, William Stewart and Taylor Truelove.
