SANFORD — Warren Richard Barber, 92, died Wednesday (2/13/13).

Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Episcopal Church by Fr. Craig Lister. Interment will follow in the Church Columbarium.

He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, a son of the late Walter Barber and Lillie Ost Barber, and was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Stabler Barber. He graduated from Allentown High School and Michigan State University, College of Chemical Engineering. He served the Army Air Corp as a Lieutenant - Navigator from Sept 6, 1943 until July 13, 1945, and received several medals for bravery including the “Distinguished Flying Cross." As a chemical engineer he worked with several corporations. He concluded his career as a health engineer for the Wyoming Co. Health Dept. in Warsaw, N.Y. He and his wife moved to Sanford in 1987. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, the American Legion, and the Masonic Lodge Newcomers.

He is survived by a daughter, Janice A. Barber of Buffalo, N.Y.; two sons, Gary W. Barber of Sanford and Paul J. Barber of Raleigh; one brother, Donald Barber and wife Patricia of Fremont, Calif.; two granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews.

SANFORD — Betty Roth Wall, 89, died Tuesday (2/12/13) at her home.

Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the Church Columbarium.

She was born in Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Edward Roth and Emma Josephine Beyer Roth and preceded in death by her husband, William J. Wall. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and an avid golfer and a member of the ladies golf league at Quail Ridge.

She is survived by a niece.

The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the memorial service.

MONCURE — Fred William Perry Jr., 68, died Sunday (2/10/13) in Pittsboro.

He is survived by his son, Vincent Perry (Candia) of Fuquay-Varina; daughter, Sharon Crump (Dywanne) of Moncure; two brothers, Charles Perry of Moncure and Labert Perry of Siler City; three sisters, Annie Alston (Gene) of Pittsboro, Mary Lou Allsbrook (Kenny) of Apex and Linda Thomas of Moncure; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Moncure. Burial will follow at Seymour Cemetery.

BROADWAY — Silas J. McKoy, 86, of 858 McNeill Mill Road, died Tuesday (2/12/13) at his residence.

Funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Chestnut AME Zion Church. Viewing will be held at 1 p.m. prior to service.

He is survived by two sons, Lester McKoy and James (Susan) McKoy of Stamford, Conn.; one daughter, Ester (Robert) Tinsley of Stamford, Conn.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

SANFORD — Mildred Motsinger Atkins, 77, of the Deep River Community, died Thursday (2/14/13) at her home.

She was born in Moore County on July 4, 1935, to the late Ralph Henry Motsinger and Maude Livengood Motsinger. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Homer Warren Atkins; brother, Ray Motsinger; and sister, Doris Motsinger. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by three sons, Jerry Atkins and wife Linda, Dale Atkins and wife Annette, and Lloyd Atkins and wife Judy; one daughter, Kathy Tessman and husband Todd, all of the Deep River community; four brothers, Fuller Motsinger and wife Barbara of Southern Pines, Ralph Motsinger and wife Lavon of Athens, Ga., Wade Motsinger and wife Maxine of Carthage, and Spencer Motsinger of Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Violet Bullard and husband Pat of Sanford; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Flat Springs Baptist Church and other times at the home of Jerry and Linda Atkins, 270 Atkins Lane, Sanford. A graveside service will follow in the church cemetery with David Mills presiding.
