KIM SIMONSON BUTTS

SANFORD — Kim Simonson Butts, 61, died Friday (2/15/13) at Sanford Health & Rehab.

She was born in Lee County to the late William Franklin Simonson and Nellie Gaines Simonson. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Suzanne S. Comstock, and a half brother, Perry Holland. She was the Director of Elections for Lee County for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Timothy Allen Butts; son, Jeffrey Osborne and wife Mary of Sanford; daughter, Jessica Osborne of Sanford; brother, Bill Simonson of Sanford; half sister, Shirley Holland Wicker of Maxton; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral service will be conducted Sunday at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Yandle officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home, but the family will receive friends today from 3 to 5 p.m. at the home of Jeffrey and Mary Osborne, 7620 Partridge Circle.

JESSE SMITH

LILLINGTON — Jesse Smith, 76, died Thursday (2/14/13) at Universal Health Care in Lillington.

A lifelong resident of Harnett County, he was the son of the late Roy and Rosa Batton Smith. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter. He was an employee of Champion Mobile Homes for over 30 years.

Funeral service will be coducted at 3 p.m. Monday at O’Quinn-Peebles Chapel with the Rev. Michael McCauley officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, and other times at the home of Tammy Wrench.

He is survived by three daughters, Kimberly Darroch and husband Tim, and Tammy Wrench and husband Keith, all of Lillington, and Wendy Smith of Sanford; three sons, Bradley Smith and wife Allison of Mamers, Jeffrey Smith of Lillington and Mark Smith of Garner; brother, Billy Smith of Lillington; sister, Margaret Taylor of Sanford; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

JEFFREY LYNN REAVES

SANFORD — Funeral service for Jeffrey Lynn Reaves, 63, who died Monday (2/11/13), was held at 3 p.m. Friday at Tempting Congregational Church with Pastor Michael McLeod and the Rev. Barry Palmer officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

Soloists were Natalie Hawes and Pastor Charlie Hawes.

Pallbearers were friends of the family.

Arrangements were by Knotts Funeral Home.

JOHN EDWARD REAVES SR.

SANFORD — Funeral service for John Edward Reaves Sr., 60, who died Saturday (2/9/13), was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tempting Congregational Church with Pastor Barry Palmer officiating. Burial was at Lee Memory Gardens.

The Tempting Inspirational Choir sang and soloist was Pastor Charlie Hawes.

Pallbearers were friends of the family.

MARY REBECCA WATSON BROWN

SANFORD — A private graveside service for Mary Rebecca “Becky” Watson Brown was held Friday at Poplar Springs UMC Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Arthur James, Noah Page, Cameron Page, Walt Joyner and Vesper Brown. Robert Watson read a special scripture reading, and the Rev. Kathryn Dudley and the Rev. Keith Miller officiated the service of committal.

Following the graveside service, a funeral service was held at Jonesboro Presbyterian Church. Worship leaders were the Rev. Kathryn Dudley and the Rev. Keith Miller. Organist was Pam Beal. Following the service, family and friends gathered in Jonesboro Presbyterian Fellowship Hall.

PITTSBORO — Blanche Flater, 95, of 72 Business Drive, died Thursday (2/14/13) at Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Knotts Funeral Home in Pittsboro.

PITTSBORO — James Hemple, 50, of 116 S. Masonic St., died Thursday (2/14/13) at Central Carolina Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Knotts Funeral Home in Pittsboro.

JOHNNIE MAE BAGWELL

ABERDEEN — Johnnie Mae Bagwell, 69, died Wednesday (2/6/13) at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

A graveside service will be conducted at 12 noon Monday at Cross Hill Cemetery.

A native of Augusta, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Everette and Ouida Price Perry, and a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Carothers; son, Jeff Jackson of Carthage; daughter, Charlotte McClung and husband Curtis Epperson of Aberdeen; sister, Katherine Kravec of Lake City, Fla.; one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

MARIAN PHILLIPS BRIDGES

SANFORD — Funeral service for Marian Phillips Bridges, 85, who died Tuesday (2/12/13), was conducted Friday at Cool Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Ira Sutton, Dr. Greg Burriss, the Rev. Matt Martin and Joe Liles officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

Steve Bristow sang one song. The congregation sang two songs. Frances Phillips was the pianist. Kristen Johnson was the organist.

Pallbearers were Robert Griffin, Stephen David Bridges, Larry DeWayne Bridges, Greyson Hill, Jared Bridges and Jacob Bridges.
