ROBERT JAMES DATTILO JR

SANFORD — Robert James Dattilo Jr., 32, of Sanford, died Friday (2/15/13) at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by C.E. Willie Funeral and Cremation Services.

PITTSBORO — James Hemple, 50, of 116 S. Masonic St., Pittsboro, died Thursday (2/14/13) at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford.

Funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of God, located at 89 Milliken Road, Pittsboro. A wake is scheduled from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Knotts Funeral Home, located at 50 Masonic St.

He survived by his wife, Pecolia Hemple of the home; stepsons, Lance Epps, Derrick Epps and Torrey Epps; one grandson; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Barbara Smith of Detroit, Mich., Suzy Childs of Florida, and Phyllis Osborne of Sterling Hights, Mich.; two brothers, Charles Hemple and Christopher Calhoun, both of Detroit, Mich.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

BENNETT — J.H. "Red" Brown, 86, of 338 Lewis Brown Road, Bennett, died Friday (2/15/13) at Chatham Hospital in Siler City.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Pleasant Grove Christian Church with the Rev. Mark Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

He was a Randolph County native and was a veteran of WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben J. and Melissa E. Brown; and brothers Wilborn and Stacy.

He is survived by his wife, Jearline Hancock Brown of the home; daughters, Rita Brown Holt and husband Steve of Bear Creek, and Angie Brown Fields and husband Buddy of Goldston;  brother, Clifton Brown and wife Mary Etta of Siler City; sister, Leah B. Short and husband Clarence of Bennett; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Joyce-Brady Chapel, 3833 Chatham St., Bennett, and other times at the home.

  LESLIE COWART BRUMBELOE

FARMVILLE — Leslie Cowart Brumbeloe, 84, died Saturday (2/16/13) at Heritage Healthcare of Farmville.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Church Street Chapel of the Farmville Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Price officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

She was a member of Farmville United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca B. Thomas of Farmville, and Kathy New and husband, Dan of Dover; two sons, Robert L. Brumbeloe and wife Jane of Fuquay-Varina and James “Jay” Brumbeloe and wife Bonnie of Kill,Devil Hills; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

  CARLTON LEE HARDY

CAMERON — Carlton Lee Hardy, 72, of Cameron, died Friday (2/15/13) at his home.

A celebration of life will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor John Brown officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.

He was born in Lillington on March 4, 1940, to Reuben Lee and Sarah Worrel Hardy. He was a self-employed mechanic all his life.

He is survived by five sons, Reuben Hardy of Aberdeen, Ken Hardy of Vass, Randy Hardy of Carthage, Frank Hardy of Cameron and Ray Hardy of Cameron; one sister, Betty Shelton of Broadway; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Reuben Lee and Sarah Worrel Hardy; one son, Paul Hardy; and two brothers, Caviness Hardy and Harvey Hardy.

  HOWARD LEGGET JOHNSTON

VASS — Howard Legget Johnston, 69, of Vass, died Thursday (2/14/13) at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

A home-going celebration will be held at 3 p.m. today at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Greg Newton and Pastor John Brown officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Doubs Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with military honors.

He was born in Rolla, North Dakota, on Nov. 11, 1943, to Sam and Lena Markley Johnston. He was a self-employed concrete finisher and was a member of Open Arms Community Church. He also served his country in the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice Lee Johnston; four children, Kevin Johnston and wife Paula of China Grove, Kelly Johnston of Fuquay-Varina, Kimberley Johnston Boyette of Aberdeen and Marie Goodwin and husband Butch of Candor; three stepchildren, Jason Meeds and wife Melissa of Cameron, Lessie Godfrey of Sanford, and Bobby Moser and wife Kimberly of Vass; two sisters, Darlene Johnston of California and Ann Riley of Indiana; two brothers, Harry Johnston of Nebraska and Elvin Johnston of Texas; seven grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Lena Markley Johnston; his first wife, Judy Johnston; and a son, Dwayne Johnston.

OLIVIA — Funeral service for Jerry Grayson Womack, 76, of Olivia, who died Monday (2/11/13) at Central Carolina Hospital, was held at 3 p.m. Friday at Swann Station Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Blackmon officiating. Burial followed at Cameron Grove Cemetery.

Four Heart Harmony sang several song selections and daughter Ashley read a special poem.

Pallbearers were Chuck Cotten, Joshua Cheeseman, Garrett Cotten, Matthew Cotten, Lonnie Harris and Gerald Godfrey.

Arrangements were by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

SANFORD — Graveside service for Mildred Arlene Motsinger Atkins, 77, of the Deep River Community, Sanford, who died Thursday (2/14/13) at her home, was conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Flat Springs Baptist Church Fellowship Hall with David Mills presiding. Burial followed at Flat Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
