CAMERON — Mark Henry Berube, age 58, of Cameron, N.C., died suddenly on Sunday, February 17, 2013.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Geraldine Cook.

Mark is survived by his loving son, Darren Berube and his mother, Lynn Wicker; his siblings, Susie Faircloth, Lisa Malson, Iris Brown, James Cook; and his stepfather, Jim Cook.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Miller-Boles Funeral Home Chapel in Sanford.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions be made to Miller-Boles Funeral Home for the Berube Funeral Fund.

SANFORD — Memorial service for Warren Richard Barber, 92, who died Wednesday (2/13/13), was held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Episcopal Church by Fr. Craig J. Lister. Interment followed in the church columbarium.

During the service, the “Family Remembrance” was given by daughter Janice Barber, readings were by granddaughter Emma Barber. The congregation sang, organist was Dianne W. Stanley, chalice bearer was Peggy Nelson and the usher was Dave Zeph.

PITTSBORO — Funeral service for Blanche Slater, 95, who died Thursday (2/14/13), was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Terrell’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Chapel Hill with the Rev. Sarah Hill officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

Soloists were Pastor Maythel Clemons and Mary Moffitt.

Pallbearers were Bill Maurbury, James Banks, Richard Hill, Rodrick Edwards, Eugene Howard and Angel Cora.

Arrangements were by Knotts Funeral Home.


PITTSBORO — Funeral service for James R. Hemple, 50, who died Thursday (2/14/13), was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Church of God in Pittsboro with Pastor Helen Russell and Pastor Peter Bell officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

The church choir sang.

Pallbearers were friends of the family.

Arrangements were by Knotts Funeral Home.


BEAR CREEK — Mabel Oldham Lemons, 90, of 591 Henry Oldham Road, died Sunday (2/17/13) at her home.

She was born Oct. 2, 1922, in Chatham County, the daughter of Henry L. and Mattie (Fisher) Oldham. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lonnie L. (Buss) Lemons; a son, Lonnie L. (Pete) Lemons; brothers and sister, J.B. Oldham Sr., John Oldham and Gladys O. Womble. She was retired owner/operator of Lemon's Grocery and a farmer. She was a graduate of Goldston High School and was a member of Antioch Christian Church.

She is survived by a granddaughter; a grandson; three sisters, Grace O. Dowdy and Frances O. Johnson, both of Bear Creek, and Inez O. Dowd of Siler City; one brother, Eugene F. Oldham of Bear Creek; five great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends today from 6 until 8 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home in Siler City and other times they will be at the family home.

Funeral service will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. at Antioch Christian Church in Bear Creek with the Rev. David Hicks and the Rev. Clark Davis officiating.

Burial will be at the Oldham Family Cemetery.
